First off Liverpool have no amassed that amount, second I say again that I was referring to a one-on-one match between Dortmund and Liverpool. It's no point arguing about the EPL because the BL (even during the period from 2010-14 when it was performing very well) will always be looked down on and any achievement not rated, so I'm not going to go there.

When it comes to purely a match between Liverpool and Dortmund, I still think Dortmund could, and would, beat them.

I doubt it very much. Bayern thought they could beat us across two matches.

Dortmund are a level below the top four teams in England.

It’s actually even worse: they kick-off at 12.30pm on Saturday.
That's even a bigger advantage to City.
They will face a battered Spurs or a weak one. City will make 5 changes and this will be a routine win.

Mo Salah being a bit cocky saying they will be champions if they won their last 4 matches.
That's Peps team talk taken care of.

That's what I call swift justice

and likely the first of many if City drop any points in the coming weeks. They just won't be able to help themselves; they'll have to make some kind of snide comment. It'll be a bit like having your favorite crazy ex-girlfriend in front of you begging you for a one nighter - you know you shouldn't go there and you know what the consequences will likely be, but you still go for it anyway.

They are on a near 30 year drought for a title and once it gets confirmed they will get themselves banned within minutes.

Can you really blame them though? 30 years without a title must be fecking unbearable. At the moment this is shaping up to be even better than 13/14. Best case scenario - United beat City to give liverpool a massive boost & get themselves top 4. Liverpool then lose to Wolves on the final day losing the league to City. City go on to the Champions League final and get destroyed by a Ronaldo masterclass

Although sadly, I don't see Liverpool dropping any points - hopefully City are pumped up by Salah's Naivety in his post match comments saying LFC will be champions if they win the last 4 games.

I know people think Benítez will roll over for Liverpool but Newcastle away is not “piss easy”. They’ve won 6 out of their last 7 at home, including beating City, and beat United, Arsenal and Chelsea at St. James’ last season.

Liverpool should win there but it’s hardly the walkover people are suggesting.
The difference is that they are almost safe. They've nearly achieved their goal for the season.

Could you realistically picture Pool having 95 pts before this season started? I couldn't.

Dortmund won 81 pts from 34 games two seasons in a row (11-13). That would make 90 pts over 38 games. Now, I think the Bundesliga was strong in those years. But not EPL 18/19 strong. No way would they win 90+ pts with the same team and tactics here.

That's a valid point. Still, you never know. Wham gave us quite a game and I don't think they did it in order to achieve some goal. Newcastle fans won't take the game lightly. It might be difficult for Liverpool as the game is in between both legs with Barca/United.

 no chance Benitez' Newcastle will do anything but provide the 3 points to Liverpool.
This. Some of you seem to have forgotten that Rafa lost to them 4:0 just to beat City next month, fat prick. Now that Newcastle are safe I have absolutely no hope but it would be hilarious

don't... just don't

At least we don't have to suffer Nate and Sutty any more. Those two would be unbearable
Truth. And I’m lucky that I fecked about 200 people off my Facebook recently so only have a couple of Liverpool fans in there and they’re reasonable ones to boot. I’ll still avoid social media for the rest of my life though, just in case...

That isn't the brightest thing to say considering the circumstances - City need only win their remaining games (which seems highly probably given their form right now) and they will be crowned champions.

You mean for life.

Nah, not for me.

People setting off smoke grenades/flares don't really think about the possibility of disabled kids, elderly fans & folks with breathing conditions. It's an incredibly insensitive thing to do, but I'd at least like to think that the culprit wouldn't have thrown that smoker at the oppo fans if he knew how it'd affect that poor kid.

It's not like adult racism which is entirely premeditated & intending to cause harm. It's just people being stupid, and stupidity/ignorance should be punished, but not to THAT extent unless they come back from their ground suspension & do the same shite again.

Would be hilarious if they celebrate like that every game while City just carry on quietly winning and then they realise they’ve ran out of games.

:D Definitely a possibility, but I do think both teams still have points to be dropped. Can't see either team ending the season with nothing but wins from here on out.

I'm actually more confident about the CL than the league.

Wish they were still around. Same with Davo. It'd be glorious.

Takes me back to the good old days where a vote for caf president lead to a splinter forum in the fallout. I only started participating here after sutty called for help in rigging that election.

I'm not a Livepool or a United fan, not even a City fan but one of my favourite things about their title win in 2012 was seeing Rooney's face when he realised City had won it whilst United were celebrating on the pitch.

Nothing against the club & didn't even want City to win that year but there's something about Rooney that has always made me dislike him, right back to his Everton days.

Strange post. People throwing flares at the stands should know there could be consequences of their actions. Someone else could have got hurt instead of the kid. Banning them for 4 games isn't an appropriate punishment at all.

Honestly, I forgot how little of the season was left for a moment. I'd ban them for a decent period of time, but I think a life ban is a bit excessive.

I think @hasanejaz88 is comparing Klopp's Dortmund (circa 2012-4) with Klopp's Liverpool now, and basically saying that version was still the better team, and I see his point. That team could paralyze you from playing for 15-20 minutes, score a couple at your end and it was goodnight Charlie. What they did to Mourinho's Real Madrid was a work of art - 4 unanswered goals by Lewandowski on CL semi is unheard of. Even Madrid's goal was a backpass mistake by Hummels if I recall correctly. They truly had a better midfield and just as good if not better attack.

Because the media wankfest every single time their club gets close to winning anything is utterly unbearable (over the top, romantic nonsense) and combine that with a large part of their fanbase being utterly fecking mental and busy writing poems and shit whenever they come back against Burnley, you have the perfect combination for never wanting them to ever succeed.

Logically I should want them to win it over the plastic abomination that is City, but Liverpool are the most successful team ever at making it impossible to want them to win anything. They would be utterly unbearable.
Damn right, yesterday when Salah scored the second I thought the bloody commentator was going to cum in his trousers, and that’s just one fecking goal.
I never thought I’d say this but City better maximum points from their last remaining games because those basted scousers are having more luck this season than a Euro Lotto Jackpot winner!

I've made peace with the fact that City will win out but what a season we've had. Most thought we'd try to challenge but fall away in the second half of the season. No one thought it would come down to a potential 1 point margin with both teams over 95 points.

Klopp has built something special and will continue to do so. He hasn't won a trophy yet but even if we end up with feck all this season, he cant be described as a failure when we will have been beaten by a City team that many think is the best Premier League team ever.

I guess what I'm trying to say is next year is our year :wenger:

Winning 81 in 34 game season is much easier than doing it in EPL due to 4 reasons.
1) Less matches to play, so players dont get burned out as easily.
2) Winter Break also helps players to keep their energy level high.
3) Apart from Bayern and Dortmund, which other team comes close to their strength and talent? None.
4) Good german teams play only 3 competitiions. English teams have to play in 4. More chances of getting tired and injured.

Didnt Liverpool did the same to all conquering Man City last season? Then repeat it again over two legged Champions league tie? LIverpool finished all those matches in matter of 10-15 minutes. That Man City was much better than Mourinho's Madrid as a team. Dortmund did end up conceding 4 goals in that tie. This Liverpool team wouldnt concede 4 atleast not this season.

I get that most Utd fans dont want Liverpool winning the league.
But, losing to City could potentially contribute to you missing out on CL football next season.
The negative impact that could have on the strengthening you need to make is a very real possibility, yet so many would be happy to lose to City.

Wow.

We've arguably had bigger summers when we've not been in the top four.
The last time we didn't have champions league football we signed Pogba and Ibra, the time before that we signed Di Maria.

What softens the blow for me is that I've already reconciled with them winning it. And really, if not this year they'll win it the next year. They've become an excellent football team. Pep can't win it every year. I mean he's still to prove he can win it back to back. The season they don't Liverpool will be champions whether it's this season or the next.

And if not next then in 5 or 10.basically they're going to win it again no matter what. May as well be now and give every decision maker at our club a boot up the arse

Blue moon's "Liverpool 18/19" thread is 1600 pages, gents. I guess they hate us better than you now too.

Strange outlook, but each to their own.

You can be sure that the board, the manager and the players will want to win vs City because they want us in the CL next season. The question is not whether we will want to but whether we will be able to. The game is only 3 days after Everton away and 4 days before Chelsea home and Ole will rotate. It's not impossible that he views the games with Everton and Chelsea as more winnable and thus important for our top 4 challenge.

That's fair comment, and I dont believe for a minute that any of the Utd managing or playing staff would purposely throw any game.

It still doesn't help me understand the mindset of a supporter who wants to lose to City, so Liverpool dont win the league, despite knowing it could cost his own club a place in next seasons Champions League.

I just dont get that at all.
