I didn't say they can't. All I said was that some good managers in the league don't have the luxury of being able to spend hundreds of millions on players. Guardiola and Klopp are great managers, but the former in particular has been able to go out and buy, buy, buy. Neither excelled in the premier league until they spent huge amounts of money.

Van Djik's basic wage is very reasonable IIRC, but has a shit ton of relatively easy to achieve bonuses which boosts it up a lot.

According to this https://www.google.dk/amp/financialfootballnews.com/premier-league-2018-review-wages/amp/, we spend roughly the same as Arsenal and Chelsea on wages, and a good deal less than City and United. It does highlight how incredible of a job Poch is doing.

Still not convinced this title race is over.
It’s done I think. Liverpool are consistent and finally have a good GK and defence.

City are a joke at the back and just don’t look motivated.

Liverpool to win the league by 10 points I reckon.

This quick start by Liverpool will no doubt have pleased many of the fans that cheered the Man City full time result last night at OT.

There is vomit all over me. A fecking disaster.

There's a lot of football to be played yet, I seem to remember Utd being gifted the league by the media when they were something like six points clear with six games remaining and Utd folded and let in City...it's not over yet.

8 points clear.

Why can't any team retain a premier league title anymore?

Were we really just that good?

Sure, but they wont need to be as good as they were last season to win the league in the future, and there is no guarantee you will maintain this level under Klopp next season, so the idea that you'll have a period of dominance just because you're having a great campaign this year is questionable at best.

You have both spent shit loads of money on your squad. You haven't spent as much as City but you've still invested heavily. Other managers don't get that luxury.

Yeah, can you not see that also applies to us? We won't need to be this good to win the league, especially if Pep leaves. That's the whole point I'm making. Liverpool under Klopp will be an 80-85 point a season side consistently.

And you cannot compare our spending with City. Absolutely not. To say anything else is absolute delusion from a Spurs fan who has ingested too much dust from his side's empty trophy cabinet.

1 clean sheet in 7 games, conceding 9 in the process.

Not watching the game but apparently the ground staff have cleared to penalty area Liverpool are attacking of snow and left the other one as it is haha

They're still winning this. fecking twats.

Tell you what (not the first time I've said this, this season), they can hardly complain of bad luck. Should have been beaten tonight.

The wobble starts here, they’ve never had this pressure and it’s going to get the better of them.

Need to be winning games like that if you're going for the title. Leicester are decent, but at home, you should be twatting them. City will be chuffed to bits.

Oh well, we've bottled it clearly. 30 more years to wait now. We're out of the title race, it's done! Man City the title winners 2018/19

They're 5 points clear. Still in an incredible position and the first time they dropped points outside the top 6.

Extended their lead to 5 points. Fair play to them, they'll only build from here.

If I was a betting man I'd still be putting my money on Man City.

Two clear penalties disallowed and the man who scored the equaliser should have been sent off.

This in the first half? Cause if you're talking about the second, no chance.

Who are you trying to kid?

It clearly says in the thread title that Liverpool has already won the league by a record points margin.

They’ve still extended their lead this weekend. However, the closer it is, the more pressure gonna pile up, and their defence has already been worse than 1st half of the season.

You were outplayed at home by a largely inferior outfit and were lucky to escape with a point.

I lost count of how many chances the Leicester players missed tonight.

It could have been worse, I mean 1-0 after two minutes. I didn’t see Leicester getting a draw after that start.
And Chelsea getting hammered by Bournemouth tonight. These past two nights have confirmed why I don’t bet, no wonder the betting companies bombard the viewers during these football programmes. They must be raking it in.

 That was pretty funny. Still big favourites but they won't have it all their own way.

When the dusts settles Liverpool extend their lead over City. But encouraging for City, they are back in it!

City need to gain 0.35 points per game on Liverpool to win the league. Still possible

If United don't at least draw against Liverpool at Old Trafford, we may as well accept our doom. No excuses not to inflict some damage on their title ambitions.

Just finished watching the game, as I said earlier today they really know how to bottle it , allowing even the only team that is arguably better at botteling back into the race, bottelham hotspurs.

You all United fans need to chill out, they ain't winning it and most likely never will.
