Do you realise the corporate financial year ends on june 30th? It's pretty likely Mbappé will be sold by then. Or Icardi. Or a bunch of other players.
Also, a lot of sport business consultants were heard on french radios for a couple of days, backing my claim that Messi would generate a significant part of his salary in new income, if not more. Apparently PSG started to work on new partnerships in case of a Messi transfer since last year when he wanted to leave Barcelona.

I don't want to but we've been trying to extend his contract for 2 years and so far he doesn't want to. I think he might be sold at the end of this summer or he'll sign a new short term contract and will be sold in a year, i don't think he'll stay longer than that.
And still, Neymar extend his contract, meaning that the small amortization left on his transfer his spread over 4 more years. The same will happen with Mbappé regardless of what happen (either amortization spread or sold) meaning that from an accounting point of you, it's almost 80M saved per year just because of these contracts reaching their terms.
And he or she thinks the buying club would pay all that transfer fee up front, all at once, in cash, to offset Messi....not an amortized fee structure like the vast majority of mega transfers.

I don't "believe" anything, I have no figures to back that up so I listen and read people who work in this field. I actually think that most posters here don't realize what Messi means for the world outside of england. When Messi was on his plane, 115 000 personns where following his flight on flightradar, which is pretty ridiculous but shows the attraction.
I also don't think they realize how good Jean-Claude Blanc is at looking for new income sources. Having Messi in your team allows you to reach deals that were inaccessible, especially in Asia. Even if it's for 2 years who cares. On top of that, the Accor deal expires in 2022 and Messi will still be in the team at this point so we'll have the opportunity to re-negociate.

PSG has taken on massive wages within a 3 month window even before Messi. In addition to the wages paid, they paid signing on fees, agent fees, etc. That's on top of 9-figure revenue losses. Where exactly is this money coming from...that's been the biggest question all along. Still have had to pay the massive amortized fees for Neymar and Mbappe during Covid, which is incremental to their 200M revenue loss.
Messi can bring in new commercial revenue, sure. But again, brands have already eaten into their current annual budget. Current budgets are set in the previous year. You don't sign off on sponsorship 8 months into the year for it to only be activated if/when a player becomes available. There is no current commercial revenue that can immediately offset this sudden spike of increased spending. Brands are going to have to reallocate their planned budget for next year, right now, if they think having a commercial deal with PSG and Messi is worth it.

Poch will be tested not from a tactical POV, but moreso squad harmony, balance, and egos. PSG should be able to come together and maybe lose 3 domestic league matches all season. They have way too much talent and key players not to have issues breaking down teams. Just be interesting if they go 3 at the back or 2...or Marquinhos steps up into midfield full time with Kimpembe and Ramos behind him.
If PSG have any weaknesses or vulnerabilities, it'll come down to injuries and club drama. Only way PSG lose matches or lose their way is if they just beat themselves.

For the most part, he's been fit and going to a slower league than La Liga should only help him staying on the pitch. Good thing people will be able to tune into beIN Sports to watch PSG and Messi. Lots of complaints over him going to PSG. Who else was in the market for him? Spurs apparently made an offer, but why on earth would he want to go there? Other than PSG, what were his other options.... Inter Miami? The only place he could move to really. Quit whining.
Did they? That contract he signed in 2017 was meant to explode sooner than later. The Covid crisis was just the spark. Messi became a brand a long time ago. I'm amazed he stayed at FCB that long (probably because his wife and family wanted to stay for personal/social reasons). Barcelona was also ruined in 2003 and then in 2010 but Messi wasn't earning that much then, not even half of his current megastar salary.

He can certainly play in England, but his age means that he would have to be used more sparingly. Maybe like Bergkamp in the early to mid-2000s. Or like Cristiano Ronaldo under Zidane.
I love football too much, I want Messi to always stun me with amazing games, he's a privilege to watch! I don't think that going to PSG necessarily makes a played be a cnut. It's not like all City players are cnuts, for example. In a football prospect, it's hard to not be excited to see how this attack of Messi, Neymar and Mbappé will unfold.
