I believe that's the correct answer, "feck off ABC" obviously as watching Gordon Ramsey's never the correct answer to anything.
From the few episodes of the series proper I've watched, it's a pretty well made reproduction and while, as a Manc I would find it hard to better the original series the exploitation of US issues in 1973 like the returning troops from Vietnam, gay rights, black power etc showed why a remake, while not necessary was justifiable. If anything the opening scene of the US one where he turns and his jaw drops as he looks at the twin towers is far more poignant than anything the UK series conjoured up.
The wife listened to Glenister's interview online and tracked the ending down on youtube as we were sure he was on a wind up when he described Major Tom and the Martian gene hunt. After laughing hysterically we came to the conclusion that the shit ending had to be two fingers up to the backers who pulled the plug on the series, it must be something that one of them had come up with at a drunken party where they were debating the whole coma/time travel aspect and they decided to say "feck it, we'll film that to show them".
