Life of Brian

We have a lad at work whose called Bryne. The bosses put all the names up on this board but spelt his name as Brian last week. Since then we're all calling him the messiah now and saying that he's a very naughty boy.

The funny thing is, he hasn't seen the film and is wondering what the feck is goin on.

a film that most people rave about , that I have not seen.

You should, it's funny.

I've always preferred Holy Grail, possibly because I saw it first and it was my introduction to Python.

I think someone mentions it further up this thread (EDIT: It's SecondFig, I could've just not put EDIT in there, and just deleted someone and written SecondFig, but I'm too far along now, there's no way back...Where was I?) Holy Grail is arguably funnier, but Brian is a much better film.

I'd agree with that. Holy Grail has a lot of chaff and doesn't really say anything, but has some fantastic stand alone scenes, whilst Brian (Alien scene aside) plays out like an epic film, with a consistent narrative and uses that to makes some wonderful overall gags & points.

It's my own personal bias really. I'd certainly agree that it's more of a proper film. Holy Grail is really just sketches with an over-riding theme. But still...

Would have been if it was written by some of the big comedy stars of the past few years, if Gervais and Merchant had done it for example.

Chris Morris is a big deal in the Comedy world. Admitedly no where near as high profile as the Pythons, but I'd argue he's been more influential than Gervais & Merchant.

You should play this whenever he walks into the office.

Best part of Life of Brian for me is the clip below.

Crucifixion?
Yes..
Good, out of the door, line on the left, one cross each

No.. freedom!

Just watched that Holy Flying Circus. Superb drama. Very impressed and the acting was excellent.

That's exactly how it is for me, and I was also 12 when I first watched it and it was the best thing I'd ever seen.

And me. Learnt all the songs, in fact make that the entire damn film.

The ending always disappointed me though. As a 12 year old I expected a more epic conclusion.

I tried to get into this as an 11 year-old but the cinema lady was having none of it. I had to make do with the album and then finally watched it when it was released on video.

Too many great bits to name a favourite.

The BBC head of rude words bit was great.
