Let's just assume our window is over

You've got a point. As I said in other threads I wouldn't have sold Evans, RVP and Nani before first securing adequate replacements. Having said that we're in this silly situation because of years of bad investment. No manager should be in a position of replacing much of a squad in 2 transfer windows

I am not saying we had no dross. I am not saying the squad Sir Alex left was good but he made it work. I agree with you on his but LvG took the job knowing that we need restructuring and trust me, i am very easy to please. All i want is an improvement, gradual upgrade. Fair enough the pressure to get top 4 took its toll. However, we are not in the past anymore and while i could excuse the problems last season during which LvG had to literally scrap champions league qualification, this season he had to build on top of the squad. The way i see it, we are again in a hyper transition period and we will be AGAIN next year since this transfer window we didn't fill all, not even close to all, the gaps.

My frustration comes from the fact that i have seen no progress. We have players that are way better than what they do at united, i have seen them. Yet, we somehow manage to make them look worse. Man management was one of Fergie's strong suits, what is LvG's? Cuz i don't see one.

In my opinion, LVG overextended himself this season. He started well by bringing in some top quality players. However he also got rid of some players whom while they may had shown signs of decline were still extremely valid for us. I wouldn't have sold the likes of RVP, Nani and Evans without bringing in some solid replacements and by the looks of it we look set of allowing DDG and Hernandez to leave too.

I cant blame him of everything. The amount of dross he found was amazing and unparalleled for a club of our level. However he did his own holes. I find little difference between SAF's CM and LVG's GK and Stk department. All are certainly not good enough for a club like ours. And FFS lets stop with this philosophy tactics. They arent working

Woodward needs a boot in the arse out the door from having anything to do with transfers, he has had 3 windows and every single one of them he has made the club a laughing stock. But the facts are that he will continue as he is doing his job very well. His job is to make lots of money for the Glazers. Anyone who cannot see that by now needs help.

Depay, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Darmian.

4 starters.

Laughing stock.

I'm extremely happy with the signings in this transfer window. Memphis, B fecking S, M fecking S, and Darmian are all drool-worthy.

That said, i simply cannot believe we're potentially lining up with two proper strikers in the entire squad (if Chicha is leaving, that is). We have a ton of important games coming up, and we should be contenders on all frønts. Instead, we cannot afford _any_ injuries to any attacking player. I mean, we can't even rest players/strikers in the league cup?! On top of that is international duties on most of the players.

Let's just hope Louis has a very good amphetamine-dealer handy, cause our attackers will be exhausted before October.

He's sorted the midfield, but there are two days left in the transfer window and our attack is as weak as it's been in decades.

Our one striker cannot score and we've released or sold Van Persie, Falcao and Hernandez is on the way out. Di Maria and Nani have gone and been replaced by Memphis. We have two recognized strikers in the squad and one of them has 14 professional appearances. We've spent the entire summer dithering away after unattainable players and have nothing to show for it - Woodward's M.O. It's fecking madness.

He sets the transfer targets now does he?

We've made excellent signings this window sorting out some major problem areas with the squad finally. But with the loss of Di maria, nani, van persie, falcao, possibly even hernandez, evans and a fiasco of a goalkeeping situation, im concerned that going into the season with a shockingly out of form wayne rooney as our sole striker is a recipe for disaster, we dont need cover for wayne, we need a starting no.9.

We currently have a central midfielder at CB and with the loss of evans im a bit baffled at the lack of a incoming centre back, i think the question is who is out there good enough to buy, and i think otamendi was probably the only one of the right quality.

We need a Starting 11 no.9, and a top class replacement for di maria, with a centre back just bellow in priority, and this late in the window i doubt we will get them.

It's been a constant through multiple managers now, so it's safe to say it's Edward's doing. I imagine he's given a list by the manager, but who and how he pursues is up to him.
Absolute nonsense. He doesn't set transfer targets.

I think if this is it to allow Di Maria to leave and not reinvest the money on another attacking player or forward would be bizarre and a big mistake.

To go into a new season with the CL with only Rooney (who almost always has a spell out injured each season) Hernandez (who lost form 18 months ago and is still struggling) and a young James Wilson would be suicidal.

Especially when the likes of Pedro have been available and missed out on.

We're a Smalling injury away from our defence falling apart. We can't score goals and our goalkeeper is a disaster waiting to happen.

If our window is over then this is LVG's last season.

It is a process which should culminate in winning the title next season. No need to panic

This is our lot. The quality of players we need aren't going to be signed in 24 hrs. We are at least IMO still a CB short, still a creative right sided forward short and at least 2 forwards short. These cant be potential, these need to be proven players, we already have potential in the club.

It won't be his last season based on this transfer window but based on results this year.

almost all teams are one-two injury away from having a disaster. We can't sign player simply because we are worried about players getting injured. Rojo and Jones should provide enough cover for Smalling issues, with McNair also in the fore.

Every season it's gets harder cause our rivals aren't standing still. Just look a city this season, Chelsea and Arsenal last season.

If we do not sign a top striker in the last 2 days of this window we can forget any chance of challenging for a title and expect a tough fight to get a top 4 position.
Imo we won't even get 4th, last season as poor as rvp was in some games he still scored vital goals.
Wayne Rooney - 8 shots on target in last 10 EPL games. Pathetic.
Yeah we've strengthened the backline and centre midfield. But what good is shit loads of 0-0 scorelines? Nothing

Jones is what? That's right - injured. Rojo is a calamity. McNair is also average. Smalling WILL injure himself sooner rather than later, his record clearly indicates that. We do need a better defender than the ones we've got.
Persisting with Blind (and Romero in goal) will result in a lot of the same shit that's happened in Swansea.

I got banned a month back defending my statement that if united don't sign a marquee player this window after selling di maria it would be a big mistake. Its turning out to be true so far. Van Gaal would be making a mistake if he insists on relying heavily on only Rooney mata januzaj/depay and young. He needs an established near world class winger and a no.9 asap.

I reckon we should probably wait until the window is actually closed before we disect the window we've had. Given how quickly we closed off deals for Darmian, Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger (without the media getting wind of it) I would be relatively optimistic we're working away on business in the background. Hernandez deal going through would suggest that we've got someone lined up.

Now stop acting like a bunch of spoiled pussies.

I don't think Rojo is calamity. But even if he is, we should sign someone who could partner Smalling and not someone who comes in when Smalling is injured. We can't get better than average player if they are to be signed as back up to Smalling.

Midfield problem sorted out but need to resolve the problem upfront. Ultimately if we dont sign anyone else I dont think we can challenge for the title.

Saying we're short in positions isn't being spoilt.
We are short in positions but some of the responses here a cringeworthy especially when the window isn't closed.

There's a Football Manager mentality here that people think all you need to do is throw a wad of cash and a player autmatically will join. And if we don't make a signing then its because we have failed in some way (nothing to do with the player or the selling club being the problem).

Don't discount the importance of the influx of money for mid-table teams either. Suddenly they don't need to sell to balance the books (see the difference in Everton selling Fellaini 2 seasons ago versus keeping Stones despite a huge bid). This puts a halt to the domino effect that usually needs to happen for players to move. As someone pointed out, Berahino's not moving to Spurs might mean they won't consider selling Kane.

AdM's performance last year showed that its not all about skill and potential, you need players with the right mentality that can fit into a certain formation. You might not agree with LVG's tactics but you'd have to agree, given his reluctance to change then it makes no sense bringing in players who wont fit.

Challenge for the title. Hah. We depend of liverpool being shit just to get to 4th. God forbid they find some form.

Yep totally agree with all of this.

All I want is Zlatan!! Get him!

LOL.
Same here.
I'd love to see our opposition defenders panic when the ball arrives in the final 3rd and Ibra is sniffing around.
The only attacker we have right now, who causes fear/panic is Fellaini.

But hey...let be real, PSG are not going to let their star striker leave.

I dont know how you can judge a window before the season is over. But thats just me...
