Leicester City post match quotes | Pogba, Shaw and Mourinho

Interesting comment about Pereira being a RW at Valencia. If that's the case, perhaps he gets a chance there when Matic comes back. Can't do any worse than Mata.

I think he meant the opposite of that. He's saying it's impressive that Pereira did so well having spent a season out of position or on the bench at Valencia.

Given that Mourinho's played him exclusively as a #6 so far, and given how well he did that job, I don't think there's any question that's where he'll be this season. Hopefully rotating with Matic to keep the latter fresher than last season.

Top work as usual @Damien

Hopefully this carcrash of transferwindow somehow means that we will see better football from the talents we do have in the squad.

Very happy for Shaw, i think he really needed that goal to boost his confidence.

Watched the Friday Night Football post match show and here are the quotes from Pogba, Shaw and Mourinho to the best of my ability (so not great). Apologies if there are any obvious grammatical/spelling mistakes.

People strangely forget nice complimentary comments like this the moment Jose says a player or the team did not apply themselves well enough or he benches a player.

Good man Jose, he handled those questions brilliantly. Something you would expect from an intelligent guy like him. Good night when all is summed up, very pleased for him and the players.

Yeah agree fully with this.

what did jose mean he said about "three" good teams. did he mean anything by it or was it an error?

I am pretty sure he meant United, Leicester, & the Match officials.

It was refreshing to see Mourinho praising the players for once. Amazing what a difference it makes when there isn't a dark cloud hanging over us.

Thanks for the nice replies all.

Nice job @Damien, I think you could teach sky a thing or two,

Same comments way different result
Yeah, they've really trimmed down the quotes - the bit about telling his players to "give me what you have" but no mention of him saying the players gave everything and were fantastic, and zero mention of what he said about Shaw (and Andreas) unprovoked. That is why I prefer the full quotes so you get a better idea of context and the full picture of what was said - good or bad.

Yeah, this was my interpretation too.

Apparently Giggs had an interview with Shaw last night with Giggs being a pundit on one of the channels. If anyone knows what channel this was - and even better what a link is to view/download the interview - I might be able to transcribe this too later on.

Makes sense. Wishful thinking we had a young natural winger. I always thought he was a #10, not a #6. Whatever the case, happy that we have him. He seems to have a great attitude and should do well this season.

That was on ESPN Star Sports. It was actually Phil Neville speaking to Shaw live from OT and Giggs was in the studio at the time and did a mini interview. He said more or less the same things as reported elsewhere but he was obviously thrilled and the happiest I've seen him in a long time. He spoke about the leg break, the World Cup, and how this was a great night for him.

Pogba's interview, the one well after the match on the sky sports website is interesting. He doesn't say "I want to stay here forever", I didn't expect that. But he says "trust" a lot.

"I give my best always for the fans, teammates and the people who trust me"
"We need people to trust"

I am 99.9% sure I am reading too much into it but felt like that was a bit of a message to Mourinho to say let them do what they know they can

Good quotes all-round. Obviously it's more important to see how we react after a defeat but delighted to hear such positive, unified talk from players and coach.

All this talk about how Pogba is talking about trust....dropping someone for poor form is not mistrusting someone.

I'd say Mourinho has shown a lot of trust in Pogba in his time at the club. Last night's game was another example. No preseason but he gets to start and is named captain even.

And I say this as someone who's tired of Mourinho's brand of football.

Nah, his passing range and vision and composure under pressure would be wasted too high up the pitch. He could definitely be a #8 as well though, he's got the tools to play box to box too. But ultimately I'd like to see him stick at #6 and become a really slick Italian-style regista type.
