Or say Grimsdale says:
Peter Ridsdale has reiterated Leeds' determination to keep Rio Ferdinand and says the club would reject any transfer request from the player.
The England international is said to be considering his future after being heavily linked with a £30million-plus move to United.
Ferdinand said yesterday that he will make a decision over his future soon, but Leeds chairman Ridsdale has again insisted that the club have no intention of allowing him to leave.
He said: "As far as I am concerned Rio Ferdinand is going nowhere and I find all this talk about him leaving quite amusing considering that we haven't had a bid for him.
"I have no reason to doubt that Rio wants to stay at Leeds United.
"He has not indicated that he wants to leave and, while it is purely hypothetical, if he were to hand in a transfer request it would be firmly rejected by the board," he told the Yorkshire Post.
The former West Ham defender has four years remaining on his Elland Road contract, and with Lee Bowyer, Olivier Dacourt and possibly Robbie Keane all set to leave the club, Leeds remain insistent that they have no financial need to sell star defender Ferdinand.
