Leeds have accepted bid for Woodgate

Look here. Might have to refresh it a couple of times to get the right banner, but it's from the Leeds site, list of first team players, with a Sale banner at the top saying "Last Few Remaining"!

I heard something about this the other night on talksport.Prob just conspiracy, but cash is supposed to be a lot tighter than most would think and the whole stadium thing is turning into a financial nightmare but Arse are now contractualy obliged.Odd though isn't it,that both Wenger's and Vieria's contracts end in 2004 just as the financial shit hits the fan. But,like I said, probably just a conspiracy...

I feel for the decent fans like Marching. But not for those best described as hate filled nutters. I've looked at Leeds sites - a lot of them have more anti-United venom being spouted than anything remotely resembling proper discussion.

Even Marching would have to admit that it is very unlikely that a United fan would be accepted on a Leeds site, let alone take some responsibility for it.

100% agreed. I know a hand-ful of Leeds fans "in real life" and there all bitter ABU bastards, and i thoguht you were all like that, but marching atleast holds decent conversation and isnto to ABU.

I don't want them to plunge four divisions mind. I'm quite happy for them to remain where we can beat them twice a season.

The last player PR or indeed any of the board (who are all Leeds fans btw) would want to sell is Woody - he is quite correct to say he had no choice to consider the bid when it came in.

I'll support the players left at the club and I'll support them from afar when they are plying their trade elsewhere from next year...ie Robinson at Arsenal or Man Utd, Kewell at Liverpool, Woodgate at Newcastle etc etc.

I'm still a Leeds fan and I'll look for their results but I'm not wasting energy actively supporting a team that's shrinking before my eyes. The Board and PR are removing slowly any reason for a fan to care, while also lying at the same time. If they had been honest and said that big players had to go as they stuffed up financially at least they would have been laying it out there.

But PR's stupid 'Rio was backup for Woodgate' looks even stupider now, also his 'No crown jewels will be sold' after Rio went etc etc.

The selling of Woodgate also indicates there is a free for all with the board of previously unthinkable transfers of the star youth team members we had. Leeds fans went through bloody torture because Leeds backed Woodgate through the trials as they valued him that much and now he's sold for 9 million? So therefore any other valued player can go now too. There is no trust in what the board will do or which players will be sold so why should I bother when I honestly know that half the players there now will not be there in August?

As for laughing...OK Man Utd is solid financially....but anything can happen in football. Your star player now and Alex Ferguson will move on eventually and that will be a huge change...it won't be as drastic as Leeds but who knows what will happen whaen huge changes to a club are made?

I don't see why Man Utd and other top teams fans are laughing so hard when Newcastle, who are currently 2nd, have just strengthened their side. The only thing that has been holding them back has been a weak defence. Woodgate virtually solves this problem on his own as he's used to playing without a decent CB partner at Leeds. He's also a 22 year old England player with a long career in front of him and he is a very, very good player.

Apart from a few oldies like Shearer, Speed, Solano, Dabizas, the rest of the Newcastle side are 26 (Given) and then 24 (Dyer, Bernard, Hughes) and younger (Bellamy, Jenas, Viana, Bramble, Woodgate, Ameobi, Lua Lua).

That's a good side that just got stronger.

I feel your pain and anger too elmo - I have just listened to PR and I thought he made a lot of sense.

Here is a link to it.......Ridsdale interview.....let me know your thoughts.

We're laughing because you're crap. We're defo not laughing that Newcastle's defence is going to possibly be stronger. Spot the diff.

So crap that we beat MU and are the only team to win at SJP.

Yeah Marcus...I think I know you're laughing at me...I don't need you to spell it out.

I'm pointing out that while you're laughing at me, Newcastle are becoming a bigger challenger to your team. You seem to spot the difference too but yet you're still laughing?

I wouldn't be laughing at Newcastle becoming a better team just to spite a couple of Leeds fans here that don't abuse Man Utd fans.

I don't know what you're laughing at laughing boy, I've been looking at some of the posts in the United forum around the end of August today, and you my friend are a joke!

Shall I awake some of them before you get chance to delete?

Actually I was going to bring up that there was plenty of doom and gloom and pointing of fingers on this board earlier this season about Man Utd and now it's claimed that Man Utd can't go down the toilet in any of your lifetimes? Big call.

I agree, I went to look at some of the posts in the United forum between August and November because I was a little spured on by the renewal of certain posts made by scousers in this football forum, and I remembered some ridiculous posts from United fans around that time so went to investigate.

The amazing thing is, the shear number of people that are now gloating about how well we are doing actually were right bastards back then.

It shocked me it really did, especially some of the names.

I'm off to awaken some! :D

This is funny...see I can laugh at myself:

Maybe I should buy one.

Your situation is far more complex than that I'm affraid. Very similar to Barcelona but with far more debt.

The whole structure of your club needs changing.

I've awoken some threads, but not rediscovered the best ones as yet. I'm tired, I'll do so in the morn.

Chin up!

I notice that you were full of condemnation until the mighty PR speaks, then it all makes sense.
This is a man who has led LUFC to the brink of financial disaster, after pusuing a plan based on a pipe dream. The fact that he was backed by a board, most of whom now appear to have been replaced, is irrelevant, and does not mitigate his part in the catastrophe at all.

Is this more sloppy journalism by a tabloid rag?
Or would you at last accept that there is some truth in the critisism of the blessed Peter.
Marching, you've been shafted, as have all Leeds fans, but you don't appear to have noticed.

On the Arsenal thing mentioned earlier, I too think they are skating the ice around financial trouble.

I'm not suggesting that they are about to suffer the Leeds situation, but I too have heard that their stadium probs could be the ruin of them.

There was even talk that they would have to go for a joint venture with Spurs!

That caused a few lights on the Talksport switchboard to light up.

Can we get 1st bagsy on Henry please???

As a football fan, it's a terrible thing that is happening at Leeds. I do feel a little sorry for them, as I would rather it was us dismantling them on the pitch, rather than watching the banks dismantle them in the boardroom.

As a United fan though, I am enjoying every minute of it.

A weird of mixture of feeling sorry and schadenfreude at the same time.

John Boooocock is a well known anti PR spokesman so I do take some things he says with a pinch of salt.

To say PR should have resigned is laughable - does he and you really think that Woody would not have been sold if PR had gone....please dont say you do.

Woodgate is the only regular first team player to be sold - Dacourt and Keane were not regualars under TV or even DOL...Bow was walking away for nothing...and geting £34m for Rio was great business....the club had to raise money and can only do that on players others are interested in - sadly nobody was interested in the players Leeds wanted rid of...nothing PR can do about that.

And once again you get your facts wrong - there have been additions to the board but it is the same one that voted 100% to keep PR as Chairman.

1) There are only 2 quotes by Boocock, the first stated an opinion, which you either agree with, or not.
The second was questioning who else may go in summer. Do you not fear more sales?
2)I don't blame PR for Woodgate's sale, but would you not agree that he, with the support of the board, is responsible for putting the club in a position where Woodgate had to be sold?
3)You are mistaken. Woodgate is not the only first team player to go. Bowyer was a regular, so was Rio, and Dacourt when fit, pre Venables.
Rio was £26M, building to £30M, not £34M.
How many times have Leeds resisted an offer for a player?
4)My point is that the new people on the board are now the powers that be. How many members of the board are left that were there when PR sanctioned the spending?
Finally, in your opinion, what price PR still being at Leeds this time next year?

would he possibly consider a 9m pound bid in the summer for say, Kewell?
