LCD v Plasma

Sony KDL-40S3000 - 40'' Widescreen Bravia Engine HD Ready LCD TV - With Freeview £699.99 on Amazon. Though my dad really should have gone for 1080p for £200 extra but doesnt really have the need for HD feeds because I havent got a PS3 (yet!)

Samsung PS50Q97 - Checked it out today. Better than any LCD on show. . .and for just over £800 a bargain IMVHO. I might just get it next week.

What me personally pisses me off with my HD- TV, is that all my PS2 games look so fecking bad. I dont know exactly what the problem is, but when playing a game the quality is MUCH worse than it was with the normal TV.

Does anybody know why? (It isnt a too big problem, will get a PS3 for christmas, but still)

LCD is definitely way better than Plasma.

I had two 42 " Plasmas .Now I have replaced both of them with 45" LCDs.

LCDs are miles better.

I noticed this a few years ago

Some sort of up-scaling issue which may well be sortable by adjusting the TV's settings I'd guess.

That is odd. My PS2 looks better on the LCD than it did on a conventional tv.

I don't like the pictures on LCDs. Particularly at the large sizes.

Do you have digital telly?

Im not saying LCD's have a clearer picture than old fashioned tubbes, they don't. It's impossible because they don't yet have the technology to fit in enough pixles in LCD's. However, on analog signals, LCD look terrible because the signal from analog is shit. It's just that on a tube you don't notice it. On digital signals LCD's have a much better picture. On tubes you can't see the diference between analog and digital. And the colour is much better on a LCD then on a tube. AND you don't have a big feck off tube sticking out so it fits in much better with the suroundings.
I have a 40" Samsung 1080bp HDTV LCD. It's up there with 1 of the best things I ever purchased. It looks a million dollars.

Btw, Plasma's are shite. They don't have the technology yet to make them worthwhile. But once they sort it out they should in theory be better then LCD's.

We just bought a 37 inch Samsung lcd. Takes a while getting used to watching tv on it!

Yes. And HD channles for many stations.

The difference at the smaller sizes are getting less and less but I prefer the picture on plasma's in general particualarly at the larger sizes. I also find the colour more realistic. I have a 50 inch LG 720p plasma and I am very very pleased with it indeed.
