Yeah I agree. Casual soccer fans aren't coming out to see the likes of Sevilla or Valencia or even Atletico.
Good for me, cause tickets will be dirt cheap to avoid an empty stadium. Not sure what La Liga's end game is here though.
Relax, this will flop when they see empty seats in all games played there not involving Real or Barca.
La Liga sucks balls and has for since the early 2000s. They're desperate for their shit league to survive so of course this was going to become a thing.
I'd be livid if I was a fan of La Liga, absolute joke of a decision.
This is going to go down like a lead stone for the clubs who have travel to the US at the weekend, then play CL games in Europe in midweek.

As someone else has said already, it seems the obvious thing for La Liga to do would be to offer up a bit of money to one of the fodder teams (perhaps even tie it in with promotion to the division) and have them give up a home game to play Real or Barca in the US instead. Real and Barca get their full quota of home games, and more than likely batter a team they were going to batter anyway, except in the US rather than a different bit of Spain.
A couple of people have said this now but given the calendar for UEFA competitions is released very early into the season it won't be hard for La Liga to arrange these fixtures well away from any midweek commitments.

I'm already watching less of it as it's so boringly predictable - 4 of the top 5 leagues in Europe were over at Christmas last year, and the other was won by the little heard of Juventus. It's all money driven - be it in terms of who wins and now even in terms of where the fecking games are held.
If I was starting following sport now, football wouldn't interest me. I only watch United now, and that's only because I'm invested. If we are all honest here, the entire thing is a load of bollocks.

As others said it’s not about the stadium being filled. And i think starting off the tickets will be dirt cheap- it’s about getting people aware and hoping their kid gets hooked on a team and starts following them.

On another point regarding NFL games over here or MLS games. What is not pointed out is in European Leagues we have promotion/relegation & importance of being in a certain place in the league, such as Champions Leaugue. Americans don't care about any of this with their silly sports, as they are all franchises, with no importance to them whether they come first or last. Glazers & the likes of Kroenke would love a system like that over here, In Europe one game could make a difference. Imagine the fury if a side went to US & the result made the difference between qualifying for Europe or even getting relegated. Just see the lawyers coming out in that scenario.

If the FA do the same, the best possible approach I see are Prem teams pulling out of the League Cup and making a domestic cup competition that takes place abroad (paradox aside).

Like the idea. Football has gone global and top clubs have so many fans all over the world. On this way, you give them an opportunity to watch their team without needing to cross the ocean.
Of course, I wouldn't like if they overdo it, but if teams like Barca, Real (and in future United etc) have one home game away in some other part of the world (when most of fans are for that team, so it is a 'home' game anyway), I don't see the harm. In fact, it is beneficial.

There are more fans and revenue that goes to the club outside of Manchester than in Manchester. It is a global club, whose owners are Yankees, the manager is Portuguese, and the best players are a Spanish, a Chilean and a French.
I am all for keeping the history of the club, but it won't do any harm if one or two matches in a season are send to some other continent. If a couple of top reds are annoyed, well so be it. There is a waiting list for tickets as are other casual fans happy to get tickets instead of them.

Yep, it sucks. I can see why foreign fans don't mind or fans who don't go to the games, but us Mancs who go to watch United don't want to lose out on a home game at Old Trafford and I'm sure the majority of Spanish fans who'll miss a game of their own feel the same.
Key word is might, probably won't as it'll have to be discussed between every club and would be a logistical nightmare for this season. Not all clubs in La Liga will vote for it to happen, the lower clubs are on a strict and small budget and this wouldn't help as they won't get the mega bucks like Barca, Real and Athleti will, look at the TV deal and how uneven it's spread between each club.
All the UCL and Europa League trophies? Or you were talking for Euros and the World Cup which was won from a team whose majority of players played in La Liga clubs? The unprecedented 3 tournaments in a row.

Premier League was indeed extremely competitive last season when the winners finished 19 points ahead of second place having accumulated 100 points.
But it doesn’t really matter when it’s PL, means nothing because it is only a disadvantage when it is La Liga.
