Fine margins, on another day we go 2-1 up, but we didn't deserve better with the way we played though.
Genuinely felt like Barca would throw it away when pushing for the goal but that was a brilliant move.
Me too, Madrid so good against Liverpool and then quite shit in this game.
Loosing doesn't make a huge difference with a draw, Real needed a win tonight to have a bit of hope, it's over now. 1 shot on target after 70mn or something is just unacceptable in such a game, it's almost certain that Ancelotti will leave at the end of the season.

Why did you play on the counter? You have better midfield than them to control the game and dictate the tempo. It was almost painful to watch a midfield of Modric kroos chasing shadows.
A part of me didn't want us to win today. The league is over for Real Madrid now, they can rest players for the Champions League and that scares me.

I think Real are a bit overrated, they were super fortunate in both the CL games against Chelsea and City last year.

As for the game, thought it was a good match despite La liga and classicos being rather shit lately. Araujo great once again on Vini jr and Frenkie ran the midfield. Crazy the difference between La liga Madrid vs CL Madrid, some real jekyll and hyde shit.
Madrid have not been a great League team in a while now but they know how to win in Europe without ever being too convincing. They'll get past Chelsea quite easily imo.
Surprise you? Bet your money on it. Madrid don't have the physicality to match Chelsea plus Benzema is way past it, and we all know Benzema was the difference maker last season.

Chelsea is a worse team than Liverpool, and Madrid didn't have a single issue toying with Liverpool in the UCL.

Chelsea have been crap this year but they've also had a lot of injuries, a lot of players are coming back. With a settled first XI with the likes of Reece James, Mendy, Kovacic, Pulisic etc returning combined with the additions like Felix and Enzo I can see them being pretty good.
I'm not that sure. For good reasons, Real Madrid has this aura in the CL but Benzema is VERY far from the player he was last season and Modric starts to show his age in some games (while still being an absolute legend and Real's best midfielder). You can bet that all wake up at the same time when they hear the CL music and it's not impossible, but unlikely to me.
Financial cheating is still cheating, cooking books so you can pay top players extra money under the table(making up artificial revenue that the club doesn't produce) therefore they don't even listen to offers from other clubs, its cheating.
I'm pretty sure PSG is cooking the books as well, but they are safer than City cause Al-Khelaifi is on UEFA board.
Benzema still showed up against Liverpool despite being completely off it domestically, and Modric seems to have another energy-level in UCL as well.
There are a few players who are really on their last legs, but its possible they can show up for the UCL-hymn still, probably can.
PSG can be a lot of things but cooking the books is certainly not part of the plan. The club spends huge amounts of money on players that aren't worth it but it's not because we're trying to inflate anything, it's just because our management is very stupid.
Of course it's possible, I'll never rule Real Madrid out in the CL, but while it was unlikely last season (but still happened with a mix of luck and pure grit), I think it's even less likely this season.
Benzema got, what, 2-3 goals vs Liverpool? Madrid, as a team, shows up for the CL so I wouldn't let their rubbish domestic form mislead me. Despite what the bookies might say, Madrid are just always the favorites for the CL and I think they'll comfortably get past Chelsea atleast.
Again not a good game from us, like nearly every game in 2023. But somehow we're able to score one more than the opponent. If we bottle the league now with 12 points up, it would be a historical embarrassment.
You’d expect they would put in the same effort into a Clasico. Watch what Carvajal does in CL and compare it to LaLiga. Or any one of them really, I just don’t understand. I somehow get it if can’t be bothered against Osasuna or Real Betis, but surely you’d turn it on against Barca?

Who can drop Barcelona actually? I thought the statute of limitations for sporting offences expired after three years.
Both FIFA and UEFA can drop them.
Tebas said that UEFA could take action on national affairs if the national competition could not fight against a crime, and that for UEFA there is no prescription.

The infringement has already been reported to the Spanish FA integrity Department but they can not take action as it has prescribed according to the Spanish Law of Sports. So I guess the last condition will be met in case they want to take action.
