La liga 2022/23

Only 1 Spanish team left in the Champions league.
Is this the first time? Only 1 team from La liga to make it past the first stage?

I hope Tebas is proud of himself. He single-handedly destroyed LaLiga's cl season with his rules. The international interest and revenue will fall and those teams will get even less money. Let's see how it'll look in the EL. I can't remember LaLiga being so weak as it is this season. And all this because of a corrupt and egocentric president, who enforced the harshest european financial fair play rules without the consideration of Covid losses.
(It's not an excuse for barca playing so poorly against Inter and Bayern of course, before anyone brings it up.)

Is it true that you Spanish fans generally like to see the league do well in Europe?

Definitely not the same attitude for pl fans which would rather see the other teamssink and burn .

I think most Real Madrid aren't too bothered about Barcelona and Atlético being eliminated, it was particularly mind blowing what happened with Atlético so at least I'm enjoying the way they were eliminated. As for the rest of Spanish teams I really don't mind them doing good in Europe specially if they have former Real Madrid players among their ranks, as it is the case with several teams in the league.

Then, aside from rivalries, it's not a very good sign that 3 out of 4 got eliminated in the group stages. It just shows how weak the league is at the moment and a lot of people this is thanks to the lack of investment in recent seasons.

Winning nearly 20 European trophies in the last 20 years isn't so bad I hope some day the Premier League can achieve half of that at least. So far La liga wins more trophies than all the other other leagues together.. But yeah we're shite.

Premier fans may want the opposition to lose but they have more of a sense of ownership of the competition.
In my case it depends on sympathies with the teams and the degree of rivalry at the time.
For example I liked Barcelona winning against Sampdoria in '92 but I was very happy about the 4-0 defeat against Milan, as Deportivo had just lost the league against them.
I couldn't stand Cúper/Benítez's Valencia but today I would support them.
I'm generally happy if Villarreal get knocked out and I'm indifferent to Atlético. Watching teams like Liverpool get knocked out with shithousery gave me quite a bit of satisfaction. The same thing happened to me with Getafe against Ajax.
Barcelona situation is so bad that I'm happy for the teasing but not anxious to see them eliminated. The feeling when they lost against Mourinho's Inter was totally different

Problem is if the EPL do surge ahead then it’s near impossible to drag them back. Would it be a shock if we had another EPL team in the final this year? Where does it stop? Unless we’re expecting Madrid to score 3 goals in the last 15 minutes every game then that evens itself out. Especially when England will soon have 5 teams every year in the CL.

Atletico lose in the 99th minute.
I hate those feckers. Probably more than Real Madrid. But it's because of Simeone and his shitty tactics mostly. I really can't watch one of their Games without thinking they should play much more offensive football with the players they got.

First time I've seen Valencia this season and I have to say, i'm impressed. That has to be the sorriest bunch of forwards i've seen in a long, long time. Samuel Lino and Marcos Andre are the most technically inept brazilians to ever exist

Defenders are good at least

Lewandowski is world class when not facing quality opposition.

Can't even punch out that polish cnut ffs

Useless

Makes no sense for Madrid fans to want Barcelona to do well in Europe just because it boosts La Liga's reputation.

It would be so weird for Man Utd fans to cheer for City and Liverpool in Europe, so the PL gets a better imagine abroad.

In real life nobody cares about league's reputation, it's mostly an internet banter for Twitter/forum nerds.

Nah rapidly declining under Gattuso after a decent start. Last two home games before this were drawing 2-2 at home to Elche and losing to Mallorca so they won't be challenging for europe this season and probably not long before Voro does his usual rescue act.

Cavani's presence upfront basically been holding them together and I see he went off injured after 20 minutes so don't know if he's in danger of missing world cup which I'm sure would bring a wry smile off a few on here.

There's no madridista who'd want barcelona to win even a kick to the balls. Yeah it's a fecking kick to the balls but they won it, so feck no. Just kick them in the balls, but they're not winning it

@FootballHQ i was impressed by how shite they were individually

Can't believe how poor Sevilla still are. Thought Sampaoli coming back would liven them but easily the weakest backline they've had for some time and seem to prefer playing endless midfielders rather than actual strikers this season and so are scoring at one goal a game rate.

Big January window for them.

Very lackluster from Real again. No drive, a lot of mistakes, missing Benzema. Crawling towards the WC at this point. Hopefully we don’t drop a lot of points between now and then.

Girona were playing very well, very organized and with personality but Vinicius has just scored after a very good move from Valverde.

1-0

We should be losing this game tbh, oh well.

They deserve the draw but that is ridiculous. Never in a million years a penalty

Stuani's goal record for Girona in last four years is off the scale. Surprised he didn't make Uruguay's inflated world cup squad.

Barcelona will past us on the table soon enough, we play terrible lately, and they can't even concede a goal.

Benzema is way too important and he is missing too many games of late. Not been talked enough.

Tchouameni was missed today too imo.

Hopefully they pick it ip after the WC. Don’t see any improvement with a couple of games to go.

Fair play to Xavi btw, despite all the shit he gets he is doing very well in La Liga. Barca is winning their games much easier and are good defensively.
