La Liga 2019/20

Even if Real drop points tomorrow and Barca win Classico, I just don't expect them to win Liga this year given their away form. They've improved since Messi returned but they're still way too weak away. A draw at Anoeta isn't the worst result in the world though given Barca's record here.

Lovely Villareal goal, rare home defeat for Sevilla coming up here.

Going to give Valencia-Madrid a watch. Real Madrid usually suffer in Mestella. Can remember them losing a cup game 6-0 there under John Toshack in the late 90s, Gary Neville getting a draw against them and Simone Zaza of all strikers destroying them I think two seasons ago. Also lost there 2-1 last season.

I believe Valencia have a few injuries but looks like Celades is packing the midfield tonight. Rodrigo upfront on his own and Torres-Gaya-Coquelin-Parajo-Soler the five man midfield behind him so not sure it will be that high scoring.

Real Madrid started well. Fantastic cross and Benzema just heads it wide.

We blew our fuse in 15 minutes. Worrying with the clasico in 3 days :(

We need Vini in this one

Cracking ending. Real Madrid have goal off for VAR but hit one long ball forward. Benzema cleverly skips past defender into box but shot deflected wide. Corner comes in....Courtois, yes Courtois rises above everyone but heads it straight at keeper. He parries and eventually Benzema fires into the roof of the net.

95th minute. 1-1. Onto the Clasico...

Courtouis saving the point with saves and the header.

Our fitness levels after the first 15 minutes have been appalling :(

And for all that we do have quality players, this team without Marcelo and Hazard simply doesn't work. Made worse tonight by Valverde having to fill in for Casemiro which somewhat neutered his ability to work as a one man pressing machine

i don't think it was the fitness level.

against PSG at home Real did it for nearly 90 minutes. But the team lacks quality offensively without Hazard. Some talents, Bale past his peak and Isco...

I would have taken that weekend of results happily, given Barca's traditional struggle against Sociedad, and the set of fixtures recently. It's in Barca's hands to take a step towards setting up the second half of the league season with the next couple of games.

Yes, I also think so.

That team had Hazard, Kroos, Marcelo and Isco complementing each other, plus Casemiro-Valverde as the engine in midfield.

Without Hazard alone the attacking potential gets very diminished.

Lack of quality doesn't explain why we stopped running. We did it in the first 15 minutes, then stopped. The rest of the game we were constantly overrun. And their goal is the perfect example of our lack of intensity and energy

Looking forward to the match. Apparently Barcelona and Madrid will go to the stadium together to try to avoid incidents.
It is said that Madrid trained with Carva, Varane, Ramos, Mendy, Kroos, Casemiro, Valverde, Isco, Bale and Karim.
Barcelona are very strong at home but I am moderately optimistic.

Getting paid to watch this tomorrow which is nice. Most exciting El Classico in a long time. Even though Barca are obviously favorites at home no result would be shocking really. These days anything can happen with these two teams.

Would love to see of all Simeone's games in charge how many have been 0-0 at half time.
This season in the league it's been 10/17 matches, 4 in a row now. Last season it was 16 matches and in 2016/17 it was 18 matches so 44 out of the last 95 league matches or 46%.

And people say he'd be perfect for us. Madness.

Getting paid?

That's a good choice by Valverde imho. Personally would have gone with Vidal, but it's good. Matches up well against ours

Fielding Sergi Roberto in midfield against Real Madrid when he hasn't played a lot there this season...

Questionable by Valverde with Vidal and even Aleña on the bench.

The quality of football that Barcelona play really is something else. Even against a team like Real Madrid, they look so much better on a footballing level.

VAR's missed about 50 pens for Real so far. Barca fans will probably stil claim the refs are biased against them if they don't get the result though.

Quality of this game is incredible. When was the last time we looked as good as either of these sides?
