In truth the key to defending is discipline and effort, basically, just run hard and run smart

Meanwhile, Sevilla take the lead. Maybe Simeone should have gone with 3 CBs afterall :lol:
 
Has Gimenez stock fallen? Seems to be just a sub for Atletico nowadays.
 
Oblak MoTM. Such a WC goalie. Unlucky Seville to face one like him today, otherwise they would have won the game.
 
Sevilla played very well in the first half, but griezmanns equalized against the run of the game. I guess thats just the difference in individual quality between both teams. The second half was very scrappy. 10 yellow cards in a half tells you all you need to know. Overall the draw is a fair result.
That said its pretty underwhelming how bad Atletico are at creating chances from open play. They should do so much better with their squad.
 
Solari not going to last too much longer, already 1-0 down to La Real who've come into this game losing last 4.
 
Madrid are behind and Benzema is at it again, missing sitters. I've never seen them this low.
 
Madrids forward planning was shocking from the get go. There's only so many times you can step away from Pogba, Hazard etc claiming they're too expensive and wouldn't get in the team anyway when you have a team full of 30 plus year olds.
Time will catch up with you and even then the costs have sky rocketed where stepping away has cost you more in the long run.
The market doesn't allow for 2/3 galatico signings anymore. There's no quick fix.

I'd say most teams pressure higher than in other leagues, so the numbers of professional fouls increases and that leads to a lot of yellow cards.

I was wondering. Most teams seem to lose players constantly due to suspensions. It seems to get worse later in games as players lose their marbles a bit.
 
Madrid are lucky Valencia have been such a mess this season otherwise they’d have a tough time getting fourth. I know Alaves are flying but with all due respect to them they are unlikely to keep it up for 38 games.
 
Its being built as dropped points, but surely Atletico getting a 1-1 draw at Sevilla isn't all that bad of a result?
 
I wouldn't be surprised, if Solari would sub off Vinicius Jr earlier than Vazquez.
 
Yellow Red for Vazquez. So no difference anyway.
