La Liga 2017/18

Hudson is really fecking annoying. That Navas save was good but the way he was going on about it you'd think Navas cured cancer at the same time.
He LOVES Navas. Gushes over him as much as he does Ronaldo who he calls "the dark invader" 80 times a match

Because we had Benzema standing outside the box

The entire Real team except Varane seemed to be easily in or around the box, with almost zero effort, and not much risk. Really I don't think even Pep's Barca were as comfortable on the ball. The forward buildup from Modric, Kroos, Isco, and Marcelo is just too good. They can find their way out of almost any pressure. They need Ronaldo for the finish (really, to properly attack crosses). But even without him, it's an amazing midfield spectacle.

Only player I know that's able to dominate a game from fullback.

Never seen prime Alves? Especially his Sevilla days where he was the most important player from fullback leading them to UEFA Cup wins.

Pretty sure I've seen games where Alves win the ball in his own half, run up the wing, cross and then head it in himself.

Alves at Sevilla was a monster. Was like watching some super footballer on steroids.

Prime Alves doesn't exist anymore.

Sorry thought you wrote the only player I have seen not only player I know. I think Marcelo is the superior dribbler but everything else prime Alves tips him I reckon.

And Maicon beats them both. And Cafu and Roberto Carlos beat Maicon

Maicon over Dani Alves?
Peak Maicon over peak Dani Alves, absolutely. It's not even close. The fact Maicon was the starter for Brazil at the time and nobody questioned it either speaks for itself. Maicon was three players rolled into one. A full back, a winger and a midfielder. Take a look at his impact for inter in the treble season. Was probably their best player

Dani Alves was always better offensively even when Maicon was at his peak. Taking defense into account Maicon at his best was the best fullback of the past few years, his peak didn't last long though.

Alves peak 10/10
Maicon peak 10/10

Alves longevity 10/10
Maicon longevity 7/10

Dani Alves at Sevilla was one of the most unique footballers ever. Used to control matches from fullback position.

No man, Maicon was just as good going forward

Maicon was doing that on a team that won the CL

Maicon? Isn't he just known for being roasted by Bale twice under Arry Redknapps Spurs?

Seriously though longevity matters so Maicon doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Dani Alves

Maicon was a 1 season wonder, it's like saying Sneijder > Xavi. Whereas Alves was elite for a decade. Even last season Alves was one of Juventus' top 3 players in the CL, 8 years after Maicon became irrelevant.

What Brazil coaches do has no bearing, none of them know what they are doing. Up there with Maradona's coaching decision to leave Cambiasso and Diego Milito at home in 2010.

Only watched some parts of the game, but Real-Atletico was truly enjoyable. It looked an end-to-end stuff for most of the time. Would have never thought of this with Simeone and his defensive approach .

Valencia having a fantastic season with their 3rd spot atm!

The first and the last fullback I've ever seen capable of doing that.
