La Liga 2017/18

3 minutes added on is an insult to a game this good.

How many goals and subs in the second half again?!

And with this goal, he now ties the number of times he hit the post this season

You see two opposites in this league: Atletico barely score more than 2 goals a game, but concede even less. On the contrary, Betis score and concede for fun

Over twice as many goals, Betis have been involved in 91 (scored 41 conceded 50) and Atlético 45 (scored 36 conceded 9)

Zidane finally wins a game against Setien

The garden is back

Are Barca always this dull when playing a side with a half decent defence?

You mean if we're a borefest vs teams that park the bus? Sometimes, and with more reason to be it in the first leg of the UCL.

Somehow it's Barcelona's fault we get a dull game when one team defends with 10 players in 20 meters at home and we should risk the whole leg, yet they get praised for reaching the area what, 4? 6? times in 90 minutes.

Agreed. Chelsea could have shown a better version. I did not imagine such a defensive approach.

Barcelona's play today was dull not because of the parked the bus oposition but because they played LVG's possession for the sake of it.. Barca didnt create enough chances to deserve even a draw (not to mention a win).. It was a poor display all around..

On the contrary I thought Chelsea had the more chances and should've won comfortably. Barca got lucky with their goal, they did have more possession but created very few chances.

It is a style a lot of other teams like Liverpool play succesfully as well when you have pacy and technical attackers like Willian, Hazard and Pedro up front (for Liverpool Salah and Mane).

Overall I thought Barca were poor, they lacked few outlets barring Alba. Part of the problem was Paulinho though and Dembele playing instead of him would help them.

I think most opinions tonight and stats/the real game are not on the same hand

Both teams had the same amoung of shots on target (2), each keeper had just one save, Chelsea had 4 shots more than Barcelona (and those 4 were from set pieces), and most of Chelsea's shots were basically screamers. The notion that they deserved more is because they hit the post 2 times and luck is subjective, you can say they were unlucky for not going in, or lucky that they went so close to the goal and not 2 meters outside.

It seems like Chelsea outplayed us and we got lucky once, when in reality both teams outplayed themselves, did barely nothing and at the end were lucky to score 1 goal on 2 shots on target. This was a deserved draw for both teams imo, both were more interested in not losing the leg today than actually trying something, that's how you get 90 boring minutes.

I think a draw being deserved isn't true in this game, Barca scored from a poor mistake and other than that created next to nothing (2 shots on target). Hitting the post twice isn't subjective, they at least created those opportunities when in comparison Barca didn't even come close to hitting the post. I do agree though that game was fairly balanced play-wise, but on chances Chelsea should've won.

There's this three chances everyone forgets about, the one Paulinho had a clear header in front of the goal and missed it, the penalty Rudiger does to Pique in a corner when he was in a great spot to score (not complaining, it's a hard penalty to see for the refs and we all know the guys in the goal line barely call anything) and the chance Suarez had that Courtois deflected, somehow those don't count because they didn't hit the post, wouldn't be crazy if 2 of those had ended up in goal, same as Willian's shot.

And I'm not saying we were good or great, I'm just pointing that a draw was deserved, but sometimes with us is the same as with Messi, we can do a game we'd rate with a 6, create a couple chances and lose against the rival team only shot, then we had an awful game because "goals" (in this case, posts) say so, goals win games but there's other things to rate performances of a team imo.

Cuellar getting booked for play acting, that's good to see.

Someone tell him his team are losing.

Likewise though Chelsea had other chances other than Willian's post shots, like Hazard's volley and a couple of others. Anyhow we're not really disagreeing on much here, I don't think the teams played better than each other, so on that a draw would be fair, just that Chelsea's chances were more clear cut and with a bit more luck would've scored more and not conceded. But that's football, it's all ifs and buts but at the end of the day only the result matters.

Ramos to take the penalty... this will end in tears.

Good point. Very good when you consider I had last goal of the game being a penalty at 20/1. ;)

Ramos can't resist being the last minute hero. :D

Nelson Semedo arrested again . I do not know what happens to that guy, but he has already been arrested three times.
First he threatened with a gun in a brothel, days later he was arrested for hitting someone in the head with a glass bottle , and now, for tying, hitting and holding a person in his house

Ruben Semedo. Not Nelson.

2 years ago he was the hope for the future of our national team's defense and now since he's been in Spain he's been arrested more often than he's started a game of football. He's not just an idiot, he's crap at football too.

a pity, some people can´t have money in the hands, and wasn´t cheap, 15m€ nowadays in la liga is a lot

It was a mysterious transfer, to be honest, since Ruben Semedo clearly shown that his development had stalled and his seasons was a let down. Villarreal probably went for it because he's still young for a center back and there could be some space for improvemente, but they could realy get better options at portuguese market for that price.

His lawyer's defense wasn't good enough. Poetic.

Clear case of xenophobia against portuguese people imo, it was just an attempted murder and he gets preventive custody without bail? Ramos has been doing it for years and noone cares! :wenger:
That is the true face of our neighbors.
One defrauding the Treasury and another at gunpoint. Time to build a wall, and you will pay it

We had to deal with Lopetegui for 3 years, I think we're even.

De Espanha nem bons ventos nem bons casamentos. As long as Galiza stays on our side I think everyone here would be pretty happy with a wall :D

Real still look very weak at the back. Leganes could have scored a couple yesterday.

It's going to be their undoing in CL, once they face a team that is a bit more clinical than PSG who were woeful in the first leg in attack they could be in big trouble.
