Watch this space on Mbappe. If he doesn't go to Madrid this summer - I still think it's likely, however - then Mbappe will end up in a bidding war where (a) Madrid could back out due to costs and (b) Mbappe could have his head turned by another club.

It's highly, highly, highly unlikely but if United are a top quality side this time next summer, with a decent financial package + his idol playing at United + potential to play in the PL, you never know. I expect us to make a serious push for him.
 
It will be official in the next few days because it can't happen any other way.
 
I want to see Mpabbe play with Messi and Neymar. Real getting him for free though will be the absolute bargain of the decade.

Maybe the biggest bargain ever. A player that would go for 200m+ otherwise being signed for free.

"Free" means like €100M in signing bonus probably, but yeah :D

When hasn't that been true? They were pretty useless pre-Galacticos era and they were nowhere near us when Ronaldo left. Madrid has an appeal that means everybody wants to play for them no matter how shit they currently are. I don't think there's even the slightest chance any player wants to play for PSG over Real Madrid. Even we don't have the same pull.
 
What i don't get is why PSG don't just take the money and do what us civilized clubs do, and buy the refs
 
I never understood why they offer 180m Euros for a player they can have next year for free and who's still so young. Especially during this difficult times financially.
 
Biggest bargain ever so far is Lewandowski for me. Mbappe has to reach his level first.

You cannot buy a player, no matter the bid, from a club owned by a state that wishes for maximum PR output. Madrid's money is meaningless to Qatar and Florentino Perez just squandered another chance to improve his squad for a pipe dream

If Real Madrid are ready to spend 200M on him this year, they will not be backing out due to costs next year.

The biggest concern for then is that he might re sign with PSG. If he does that, there won't be any bidding war cause they won't be selling.

I highly doubt we'll be in for him anyway, we are much more likely to be interested in Haaland.
 
I reckon we could get him if we wanted to as I'm sure Mbappe would love to play with Ronaldo. We're way too stacked in attack though so obviously wouldn't do it.
 
Utterly mental that PSG wont cash in on mbappe for €180mil which will help towards ffp or its successor. They are holding onto a delusion that mbappe will re-sign with them.

What we really need is for madrid to somehow not make CL qualification for next season and then see what mbappe does.

The lad is badly advised as at the moment, the PL is the league to come play in. Give the spainsh giants a few years to get back to their perch and then go sign for them.

I think they're just willing to give up on the €180m for what they see as their best ever chance to win the CL this season.
 
What a terrible disappointment.
They have been promoting all summer that it was closed . fecking tic tac...
And the player? we offer almost 200 million to the richest team in the world and he cannot make a gesture or speak publicly? This is going to cool down, surely cloud PSG / Madrid, Madrid / Mbappe relations with the consequent renewal

This is what would write the @carvajal post summer market but there is still time! :D

Why do PSG need 180 million? They aren't a club that cares about balancing the books.

There are many reasons to want him now. The one I choose today is the need to return to compete at the highest level from now on.
They should have offered players from day one, now it's too late I'm afraid

Exactly this. Mbappe is just a bragging right for their owners at the various billionaires network meetings they go to. He's an icon of what their state can do when they want, as is Neymar. Him saying he wants to go means absolutely nothing and absolutely no amount of money would do - because that would prove that the old clubs still hold more status than the Sheikhs and that is -unacceptable-.

Probably worried Mbappe changes his mind/PSG manage to convince him to sign a new contract in a year. They always said that they will never allow him leave for free.

Getting him a year earlier didn't work with hazard but mbappe is younger and not getting him now makes real madrid a bit unappealing to watch again perhaps (longshot really, but comparing to psg, Premier league) real madrid are slipping down with thier best players a year older and needs some fresh energy, and possibly the stadium is a big factor perhaps perez wants open the brand new bernabeu with mpabbe
 
It would be mad if he runs down his contract. Imagine if he does an ACL or an Achilles, with nothing to go on his contract. He'll potentially be losing out on £10s of millions - because even though many clubs would still be desperate to sign him, his negotiating position is far, far weaker.
