Film Kraven the Hunter (2023)

Kraven the Hunter is a Marvel character. It is directed by Sony, and Sony owns all the rights to Spiderman related stuff. This is as much Marvel as the MCU, which is directed by Disney.

Sony making a Marvel movie and Disney making a Marvel movie. Both are Marvel.

This is obviously not connected to the MCU and Avengers related stuff because that is the Disney Franchise. Venom, Morbius and Kraven is the Sony franchise.

Disney had rights to the Spiderman MCU stuff, but Spidey and everything related is still owned by Sony, for now.
You're being slightly disingenuous. The MCU is made by marvel themselves who are owned by Disney. Pretty certain iron man 1 came out before Disney owned marvel too.

You see it's obviously not connected to the MCU, I say to the common fan that's not obvious at all. They're not made by the same people, they're not in the same universe, they have nothing to do with eachother but then you list it all as marvel films.

Disney don't have the rights to spiderman either.

Spiderman is still a Marvel creation, the same as Venom, Kraven and Morbius. Yeah sure, Marvel doesn't own the rights to Spiderman anymore, but them and Disney had rights for the MCU Spiderman for a number of movies.

Marvel is not in any way involved in these Sony solo movies, but the characters involved are Marvel creations and will one day go back to Marvel when them and Disney are able to purchase the Spiderman related content.

Disney do not have the rights to spiderman. They struck a deal to use the character, the rights still belong to Sony and that's never changed.

The point I'm making is when people talk about marvel films, they generally refer to MCU and use Marvel/MCU interchangeably which leads to inaccuracies. The original poster made a point of about aaron Taylor-johnson being in a previous marvel film and how marvel are now reusing actors as theyve run out. How is that possibly accurate when theyre in two different franchises completely?

Has anyone watched the first 8 minutes yet?

It doesn't actually look all that bad - at least better than the other pap Sony have been releasing. I like that it presents a story of some kind. Unfortunately it also has seriously off putting CG.

I dont understand why someone thoght this would be good. Like the rest he's a Spiderman villain, so it might be fun to see him fight Spiderman. Thats it. If its not that why would I watch?

I think it looks decent, after Marvel butchered the more recent releases as of the last 24 months (box office) the basis for hero / villian arc films to follow a simple concept of having a story behind the inauguration of the characters is always best suited.

as expected, it's shit. Morbius shit. boring story, boring character, bad main actor, bad action scenes, all that for over 2 hours.

everyone involved obviously believed this character should have his own movie, yet at the same time none of them believed any effort should be put into making it. why the feck this even exists, I have no idea. they aren't even making money on it.

Was anybody, anybody! craving for a solo Kraven the hunter film?
Morbius, Madame Web and now this likely flop. Really oddball choices being made.

They're doing it to keep hold of the Spiderman franchise. Use it or lose it.

For hundreds of millions!

Must be fun throwing money around like confetti and losing your company millions in the process.

The good:

Russell Crowe is a good man who tries his best.

The bad

They decided that instead of the Russian accent he’s supposed to have, Kraven now has a weird mix of English and American?

Ariana DeBose was weirdly bad in this. Like her line delivery was all kinds of off.

The guy playing Rhino has to win the worst actor Razzy. The woman who played Calypso’s gran might get Worst Supporting Actress.

The fact that animals go along with Kraven’s plans implies that he had to go through the plan with them. Why the feck is that not in the film?

The Foreigner is a bad character.

Watching it atm. Wtf is this unnecessarily long origin story?

It’s in this horrible middle ground where it feels horribly rushed but also going on too long.

Genuinely thought he was doing a Borat impression at one point.
