Kobbie Mainoo

You can always find some similarities but Mainoo is a technical player that has the craft, guile, poise, vision and ability to retain possession in confined spaces. Fred is a high energy type of player but he's not someone that can control a game with the aforementioned attributes, which is why Fred is a high energy midfielder and Mainoo is the metronome/controller as the hybrid #6/8 due to his ability to create space and make plays. Mainoo's touch and technique is of a very high level for a kid his age.

He does look to have a very nice technical level and those gears when it comes to the physical side of the game. Like Laird he looks to be coasting and then bang he’s got the ball and he’s gone. I can’t wait to see what he’s like when he fills out. The only thing is I can’t see him getting games here or at any big club in a CM conductor role for a long time yet. obviously he’s super young and promising but there’s a such a long way to go. U23s appearances next year? Loan the following season?

Just to pick two examples, Rashford turned out to be shite. Give it a couple of seasons and you'll see folk fighting over one another to brand Elanga not good enough for United.

Even if there someone in the ranks with the potential talent to reach the highest level, then the inevitably in this case is that the club will ruin the player. Whether it be Mejbri or even Mainoo, better they leave before the tsunami of toxicity that has destroyed this club also decimates their careers permanently.

Do you not see the irony in your post?

I agree mate.

I'm just enjoying seeing the lads develop if i'm honest with you. There's another player in the group that has been doing well (Daniel Gore) and I think he deserves some recognition too, for his performances.

It's more that England is such a multinational country -

People from Europe, Middle East, Great Britian, Asia, West Indies etx -

Literally England is the most multinational country I've ever seen; but I didn't really see that type of multinationalism at International level.

I'm seeing it more now than Sven Goran Ericsson's period for example and I am glad about it.
Considering you just named 3 literal multinational players as a sign of no multinationalism perhaps it speaks more to your ignorance in seeing multinationalism rather than any actual lack of it.

Just quickly looking, so may have missed one or two, Sven's tournaments squads, 2002 is 13/23, 2004 is 13/23, and 2006 is 11/23. The recent Euros 2020 had 14/26, virtually the exact same.

Tbf, all of Pogba, Rashford, Januzaj, Greenwood, Ravel etc have disappointed in some sense. He has a high probability of being right, but it's overly negative.

This has to be a WUM, you definitely can't be a United fan to talk so much sh*t.

Rashford turned out to be shite? I'm not his Rashfords biggest fan but you're writing off a 24 year old that played a part in winning our only trophies since SAF retired and has contributed with some crucial goals and assists in the past, which if he hadn't contributed, the club would've easily finished outside the top 4 on quite a few occasions.

And you're writing off a 19 year old who's only just broken into the first team and to back up your point, you're using hearsay off of other caf posters? I've heard it all on here now.

I've got eyes and he's one of the biggest wastes of 50 million. Shouldn't be anywhere near the first team.
You may have eyes but you haven’t got a clue, evidently

A year from now when Rashford is either stinking it up for a team lower down the league or has absolutely bombed out at a club with some parity to ourselves (at least in terms of profile).

In terms of Elanga, it'll just be a case of waiting a little longer for the sad inevitability to play out as I've predicted.

Haha You seriously think if Rashford goes up for sale he goes down to a lower league club? This summer or next may I ask?

I am not saying I think he is a top player in bad form or suffering for injuries. Never bought into the hype even though he has had some good spells. But if Rashford asks to leave this sumemr he is only moign to another big club or one with a lot of money, from either case he will be on a good salary, so he wont be movin gdown a league anytime soon, ridiculous statement.

As for Elanga, he is a kid, he has broken through and been one of the decent performers, consistent over his short spell in a team playing badly, why are you getting on his back? Not sure I see a top talent personally, but he is doing well.

I as many of course, criticise a lot of players in this current squad but your statements, wow, all entitled to an opinion but Im jsut reading a ridiculous prediction on Rashford and slating of a young player with a great attitude, doing well, pure daft

He didn’t say lower league club… he said a club lower down the league.

No. I meant a team lower down the league not a team in a lower league - plus of course I also gave the alternative scenario.

What I find so in encouraging about Mainoo is that center midfield is probably the most complicated position on the pitch (requires reading the game on both sides, mobility, physicality etc) and mostly players blossom later on (Scholes is a great example). Mainoo is already a savvy midfielder, everything seems natural for him. Wonderful prospect.

And that's fine. Maybe it's because I wanted more than Northern Ireland, Scottish, Welsh and Irish mix of ethnicity in England because whenever I'm living there- I feel like the mix of ethnicity is deeper.

The thousands of South asians, West Indies, Africans,Chinese/oriental, Middle Eastern people that is seen in a city and I have plenty of friends of etc -

It's like how people want to see more Asian players developing in the English game - plenty of people and professionals say it because there is plenty here but they are just not developing in the game yet.

https://www.skysports.com/football/...s one of five, and Wolves defender Kam Kandola.

He is great and a real prospect but being great at u18s doesn't tell the story of if someone can step up straight away or even if they will look great at u23s.

Let's not get carried away and remain patient.

I can only assume that you are not old enough to have watched Fabregas in his time in the Premier League or you were not interested in football at the time and sadly by watching YouTube it cannot show all of his general play and influence on a game.
Fabregas shits on most midfielders that have played in the Premier League....Pogba is not on his own in that regard.
"Mbappe shits all over Rashford"

Would look equally silly and out of place. Keep your agenda drivel in the many Pogba threads, please.

It will be interesting to see him against a senior side (U23). Compared to a few others, he looks really developed physically, and it could also make him stand out more at this level.

My reply was to a post that compared Pogba to Fabregas.

Christ, there are posts which makes me miss being a mod.

Reminds me of Fosu-Mensah at that age.
In my opinion Fosu Mensah was clumsy on the ball and only caught the eye mainly because he was physically dominant in youth games...for me he is the most overhyped youngster to come out of the academy in recent years.

they're different type of players too. Fosu Mensah looked more of a defender who could play in midfield. Mainoo looks more of a natural midfielder..technically more comfortable on the ball.
Still early days but so far promising.

You conveniently left out the part where the comparison was made with regards to when they were youth players.

"Youth player might not make it at big club"

Bold as feck big brain shit from you there man.
Agreed, it gets said in every single thread about youth players, everyone knows there's a chance they don't make it but constantly parroting it adds nothing to the discussion.

If people are going to compare him to a black player, then I think the more apt comparison would be the former Dutch player Clarence Seedorf. Comparisons to Fred and Fosu Mensah are way off imo.

It's an elementary observation. We've not delivered a player that's lived up to the hype in forever and given that we've become a club which pollutes and poisons everything it touches then none of them have a chance with us anyway.

It's great to see a deep-lying midfielder in a Man Utd shirt look so comfortable in that position.

Er, Mason Greenwood?! The reasons for his demise are nothing to do with the club.

Honestly looks class. His round the corner outside of the boot passes remind me of Scholes. Looks really strong on the ball and can get stuck in too.
In a way it’s a pity he’s so young as we might not see him in the first team for another few years.

Pogba too, people might have their own opinions on him but there's a reason big clubs have always been sniffing around him.

Rashford, despite how shite he's been this season, also had back to back 20 goal seasons and is the only player to do that since Rooney. That poster is just ridiculously negative and wants to infect the youth forums with their generic, boring opinions because some of us dare having a little optimism about the club.

Part of the reason the club has become so poisonous is because of fans like you.

Seedorf. I can see that. Great game today!
Seedorf made his first team debut at 16 and would go on to win the Champions league with Ajax, Real Madrid and AC Milan. He's one of the great midfielders of his generation.

So there's no pressure..:D

Dont think this discussion is going anywhere. Youth players are always a risk and we are not in a great situation but things can change very quickly in football. In summer we were looking for a title challenge after adding Varane and Ronaldo and now we are talking about nuking the squad.

Lets keep the thread on his performance.Potential issue with his ascension to first team and general issue of club can be discussed somewhere else.

Greenwood didn't have a regular starting position nor even a regular place in the first eleven before his arrest. You'd have been waiting a long time before being able to draw any kind of definitive conclusion as to whether you could consider him a genuine success.
