Klopp to leave Liverpool at the end of the season

It’s actually tremendous the way their season has went up in flames. I’ve rather enjoyed it

You've been a meme worthy club since SAF retired, be it your players or managers, and a textbook example of how to throw money out the window. If not for your past and the revenues you generate, you'd be in the Championship by now.

Seeing you and some other MU fans having the gall to shit on a manager
that basically resurrected Liverpool from the dead and made them consistently compete on all fronts is a sight to behold and the incarnation of lack of self awareness. If not for Man City, Liverpool would have more PL titles than you do. This despite having spent much less money than say, well MU. Seeing you slating him is absolutely hilarious, given your tendency to build a shrine for any wannabe SAF. You stubbornly back a Titanic captain to the hilt, waiting in vain for the return of the Messiah.

There's banter and club rivalry, which I get, and then there's you and your ilk.
Calm down fan of championship team. You sound terribly wound up as if you support Liverpool. This is a Manchester United forum - dumping on Liverpool players and managers is sort of what we do around here. Tough luck if it wets your eyes to watch.

Hell of a post to make on a United forum.

Klopp at Liverpool is the equivalent of remembering your child hood days as the best of your lives, but when you actually sit down and think about it, they were not so special other than some great moments.

I know there’s a ‘post not poster’ rule but you do seem to produce quite a few ropey posts across a wide range of subjects. Almost as if it’s the poster….

1 PL and 1 CL puts him up there as a terrific coach but not among the very best. Having said that he did do a brilliant job at Liverpooo. In 2016 if someone asked what’s more likely - City winning 5 out of 6 PL titles and a CL or Liverpool winning a PL and CL, I’d say the former. So he’s done a fantastic job but he needed to be more consistent (should never have finished below us) and won a couple more league titles to be among the true greats. Let’s see how he does in his next job.
Rate him the same as Rafa tbh.

Rafa had a much worse squad, spent far less, finished second in the PL to the GOAT manager, won an FA Cup and won a UCL.

He also won two leagues at Valencia before he joined Liverpool.

Remember, City basically took a year off when they won the league. They were 20 points ahead at Christmas, the entire league took a vacay and they just maintained a decent standard, well down to them but it almost felt like everyone gave up and let them win the league.

For people thinking he is better than Mourinho, give your heads a wobble please. While late career Mourinho is limited and cannot run with modern tactics, he has recently won another European trophy with a small market team.

Mourinho created one of the most dominant teams in the premier league that won back to back leagues, an FA Cup and two League cups. He left, won the treble with Inter Milan, including beating the best club side ever, broke Barca dominance in Spain with Madrid, came back to the Premier League and won another league and League Cup.

Goes to a crap United team and finishes second behind the best coach with unlimited resources and wins Europa League and League Cup.

Christ the man even got Spurs to a cup final FFS.

To think a man that won three leagues, one FA Cup, four League Cups and a Europa League with English teams is worse than Klopp is really wild.

Get off the bastard fence and tell us what you really think.

Very true, seeing you playing gives me an eery feeling of déjà-vu.

Noted.

Please, elaborate.

Soon.

 maybe take some of your own advice on this one...
Nah, I'm fine.

Glad to see you joining the fray.

Agreed, but that's what I honestly think. Note that I've posted it on the Football forum, not the one specifically related to MU.

For all his flaws, Klopp is one of the best managers of the last decade and there's no club in the top leagues that wouldn't consider him as a prime candidate. Reducing him to a "but, but he only won one PL title" is just plain daft. I do however concede that I might have gone too heavy handed in expressing my opinion. This might have rubbed a lot of some people the wrong way.

I apologize for that.

Move over Arsene, Klopp is the new specialist in failure. :D

No idea what was said but it doesn’t look good in the above clip. At one point it looks like Salah is ready to take his shirt off. Hard to tell but it also looks like Moyes has a quiet word with him, presumably to calm him down.

Im wondering why the guy who filmed this chose to film the Liverpool subs coming on instead of actually watching the match.

Them having a whinge at each other is comical though.

Salah is pissed because he didn't start and Klopp took too long to sub him on. When he is about to be subbed on weirdo Klopp wants to do a handshake and a hug because his love language in physical touch and he doesn't respect people's personal space or boundaries. Salah is pretending like he doesn't see him (he does) and "fixing" his socks. Klopp barely gets a handshake from an annoyed Salah and takes exception to it because...gimme my hug dammit. Salah is peeved because, he doesn't wanna play stupid huggy huggy games right now. Klopp just couldn't let the snub go and though he was som distance away from Salah goes over to Salah and says something snarky to him. Tensions are already high, they start chirping, things escalate, neither wants to back down.

I personally am appalled that the cafe isn't proclaiming Klopp as one of the finest managers of all time. :wenger:

And then there’s you , a “Leicester City supporter”on a United forum slagging them off  Maybe have a look closer to home

Sounds like a reasonable read of it.

"Drop me? Feck your hugs."

Klopp leaving is not the best news this season. The best news is his replacement is Arne Slot. Hopefully, it will be Stevie G to take over after Arne Slot.

So, if it wasn’t for City, Liverpool would have another thirteen premier league titles? Wow, that’s crazy.

Why does it matter who we beat to win the CL? We also beat Bayern and Barcelona, and had a group with Napoli & PSG.

We should’ve won more but elite level football is about fine margins. Change four results in Klopp’s reign and we have three PL’s and 3 CL’s. Change another four and we have a PL and nothing else to show.

Change two results in 09/10 and 11/12. United have seven titles in a row.

You can't say you're the best team in Europe because you've beat Spurs mate.

Ridiculous statement born out of hate toward a rival club rather than any objective analysis. You'd be worshipping him if he set a foot in the Top Red Disneyland.

He's been a fantastic manager for decades and despite a quite sad end to his tenure at Liverpool, it will never wash away his achievements in the PL.

How is it a ridiculous statement? Mourinho, Ancelotti and Wenger are all better coaches, it's not even an argument.

Klopp at Liverpool is the equivalent of remembering your child hood days as the best of your lives, but when you actually sit down and think about it, they were not so special other than some great moments.

They always blame City but its not like they finished second every year is it.

Klopps 9 seasons at Liverpool were: 8th, 4th, 4th, 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 2nd, 5th and 3rd (presumably). It's really nothing special.

Compare to Wengers first 9 at Arsenal: 3rd, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 2nd

It really makes you realise how overrated Klopp has become. He's quite comfortably the 5th best manager in the PL era. Ahead of guys like Conte and Mancini but MILES behind Jose, Pep, Wenger and Sir Alex.

Agreed, he's so up and down, big highs but more often lows even if you ignore City.

Where coming 2nd with 90 odd points is somehow better than a United team's total, despite the United team doing the treble.

And the fact when we had the league wrapped up Fergie literally started playing kids and bench players because he didn't give a feck about meaningless shit like that and wanted to give the young players a taste of what winning the league was like.

Remember when he said if we played like we did against them against arsenal we’d lose… since then he’s been knocked out of the Europa to Atalanta, lose to palace, lost to Everton, drew to West Ham. Hope you wasn’t relying on us to beat Arsenal, can’t even rely on your own team

Agree with most of what you wrote, but don't think Klopp is "5th best". Maybe if City finally get those titles stripped off them, and the 2nd place Liverpool finishes are transformed into 1st, then Klopp can be considered up there. As it is, winning one league title in 9 years is not that world shattering.

It's not like Liverpool were some scrappy little newly-promoted side playing with part-timers and journeymen.
Dalglish won the league with Rovers, Ancelotti & Conte won with Chelsea (and Ancelotti won 4 CL but with non-PL clubs), Mancini & Pellegrini won with City, Ranieri won with Leicester.

I know many will shoot me for saying this. Klopp is one of the best manager ever in the PL. I'm so happy that he is leaving. It will be very difficult for Liverpool to find another manager like him again.

I know he only win 1 CL and 1 PL but he was competing with Pep- one of the best ever managers (better than Klopp), City's best in class football structure and facilities, City's bottomless pit, City's 115 charges.

I think you are spot on.

"Mate, you're on about 350 grand a week, any danger you could sort out your hair? It looks like your daughter cuts it for f**k's sake!"
I think he said, "you need to grow another foot before you can do a credible impersonation of Marouane Fellaini"

I think you're right too. A know a lot of United fans are shitting on his achievements a bit on this forum, but he's been the force behind Liverpool the past decade. He turned them from a joke club back into contenders again. I don't think he's a great tactician or genius, but he used his personality to get the very best out of the players at his disposal, and to hype up the Anfield crowd for so many "must win" games.

I'm sure Arne Slot is a very capable coach, but he won't be able to replicate what Klopp brought. I'm so glad he's leaving!

PS I've just envisaged a scenario where Slot has a couple of underwhelming seasons at Liverpool, gets the sack and a rested and rejuvenated Klopp comes back as the returning hero....:annoyed:
