Good for him, if you had seen Ferguson do that he would be branded a "hero", "man of the people" etc etc

No, beacuse we know silly publicity stunts for what they are. Sir Alex understood he couldn't win us over with facile shite like that, so he never tried.

Having said that, Klopp is a great manager and I'm looking forward to see what he can do. Just don't smother him. Never again the ' I saw two stars in the sky!'-Rafa-times.

Who cares though? A football club trying to gain a little profit out of a (media) hype, how dare they? No self-respecting human being would even buy that "The Normal One" T-shirt.

That was the only point, that it's cringey as shit.

For the record I had the same feelings about that godawful 'chosen one' banner, but at least that wasn't done by the club.

Too true. Pretty similar to what the managers did in the 70's. Doc was always with the fans. Can put yourself in a dangerous position if things are not going well. Next he will be in the Kop rather than on the sidelines.

Huge target audience.

Fair play to him for going about the city and getting to the know the place.

Tough crowd in here. He's going to get destroyed even if he donates 100% of his wages to cancer research.

Firstly, that LvG figure, they've been making those since the 90s. I collected them as a child and they were for every team. They're not exclusive to one club.

Secondly, no offence but, you're Liverpool fan, on a United forum, dominated by United supporters. If you're looking for Klopp to be hailed and praised as Liverpool manager, you're on the wrong website

And these were listed the moment LVG entered into his first press conference? That was the point, in case you missed it.

You just saying that 'cos you got one of them Dingy Ducks aren't you?

It can I guess when things go wrong, as it stands nothing bad about going out and meeting a few locals.

Be the first Liverpool manager since Evans that I actually like. Obviously hope he fails, but seems very hard to hate him. Those between have been a right bunch of cnts, particularly KKK and Fahcts FSW.

Yep, I also still like him and wish he was our manager. Seems like a great character and his teams play the correct way. My hatred towards their current side has definitely gone down - no Gerrard, no Rodgers, they don't even have that many hateable players. Now if the sold Skrtel and maybe a couple others (can't even come up with names now really) I'd probably be nearly neutral towards their team. Strange because back in Benitez days they'd been so easy to hate.

It will come back once they start competing for top 4 regularly and their fans start acting like the natural order of things have been restored.

Yeah the hope is in the fans now. And Skrtel.

Find it odd anyone has a specific hatred for an individual (you have never met)....you hate Skrtel because?

You really find it odd that someone dislikes a player from the opposing team and I have to explain it to you?

Your original comment mentioned "hatred" which implies you have a reason to do so. Dislike is a bit different.

I dislike Cheese on toast but it doesn't mean I should hate anyone who eats it.

Maybe hatred is a strong word, dislike because of an association is understandable. I think hatred is used when a certain behaviour is presented. FSW and KKK behaviour to United was unacceptable to many, me included, that it quite easy to use the hate word. I do not wish them any good fortune. I also found slippy G's behaviour distasteful in so many ways. Can't say the same for many ex-Liverpool players as they don't display the same behaviour though they have the same association.

Unacceptable? Really?

So many things in the world are unacceptable. If this is how low your bar is then you must spend your days being appalled.

Not at all. If you find KKK's behavior regarding the Evra incident acceptable, then we have different standards, that is all.
Not getting into Kenny as it's over done.

But Rafa? He trash talked Fergie. Pretty much the standard behaviour of many managers of many teams. Are they all unacceptable. Or just behaving in self-interest?

According to Raphael Honigstein Firmino is a very good fit for Klopp. Benteke is less clear.

Both had interrupted starts so we shall see.

Wasn't Benteke rumored to be a Lewandowski replacement for Klopp at Dortmund? I think it was only the fee Villa demanded which turned them off.

I don't hate anyone - let alone somebody I have never actually met. Football rivalry can bring that into play I suppose for some, I assume there are lots who would see Giggs in that category (obviously non-football related).

Of course I don't like certain people, footballers or not - but I think to actually really hate someone is another level up from that and if you don't actually know the person - irrespective of any specific incident - I can't see why the word hate/hatred comes into it.

Not everyone will agree but I can't feel that strongly about anyone having never met or known them.

Be fair, that's pretty sweet. Those old geezers will have been completely made up.

Rafa actually trashes most other managers, even when he is no longer competing in the same league. Recently having another go at Jose. He might be god to you Scouse fans (which in itself is hard to understand) but he is very hard to like.

I agree with the Giggs behaviour, and I am sure we can list a whole number of other players/managers that have acted as complete twats.

I would wager that if someone did something to your family, let's say ISIS, you would have an immense hatred for them whether you had met them or not. Knowing them is not really the factor for most people, it is the behavior.

It's not really hard mate, Istanbul and all that is enough alone for many Liverpool fans. I get what you mean about the manager thing it's all a bit childish, that said Jose is pretty much the worst when it comes to that.

Fair point, but I think football terms as per the manager thing, it's just a little childish.
It's like when a player takes a corner near the away fans and gets pelted verbally with abuse by many, it's just a bit daft to me. Football rivalry can be intense, and I accept there are players I don't like & sure some have been United one's but hatred is a bit too far.

I could never stand Gary Neville , but am able to admit he is a top TV commentator/pundit - without it getting to that hatred stage. It's a bit school playground for me.

TBH, for Klopp's previous interest in players, I find journalists who've been close to Dortmund for years more reliable than Honigstein, no disrespect. According to such journalists, Dortmund had serious interest in three strikers with no particular preference mentioned: Benteke, Lukaku, Jackson Martinez. None of them have ever come to fruition.

Even if that was true, so what? From the top of my head Fergie, Wenger, Pardew, Mourinho, Aladyce have all trashed opponents. Rafa is no more or no less guilty than anyone else. It's the way of these things.

Won't be long before Klopp adopts the mentality of the fanbase and the cycle will continue. It is inevitable.

Which is not surprising given the fees they were ultimately sold for though, so I wouldn't discredit said journalists based on that.

They've always reported that financially all are very ambitious to actually materialize. What I meant is that if they write that someone is a BVB target, it's reliable while sources as Honigstein or Fjortoff are far less trustworthy (unless it's a transfer from Dortmund to Bayern, of course :D).
