Gaming Kingdom Come: Deliverance II | Released on 4th February 2025

Haven’t played the first so I’m just going to rawdog it and get this one. Reviews look good

Glad the second is looking good. I'm mostly enjoying the first after I picked it up for 9.99. Has issues but you can see how it could be taken to the next level in a sequel which is hopefully the case here. I've a lot of the first to get to first.

The director of the game seems a bit right wing.
I think It’s supposed to have a gay romance option in the game that’s upsetting a lot of the anti-woke crowd. I don’t know anything about the studio but it seems they had some trouble in the first game and now this one over culture war stuff.

Yeah also they're apparently including more cultures in this one which they say is based on real historical evidence of a bigger blend of folks existing in the larger city that is depicted. Makes sense. First it was one side being upset it wasn't inclusive enough for the first, now the anti woke crowd is saying it's too much. Studio expressed frustration saying neither fringes will ever be happy. Seems fair enough.

Regardless of inclusion of skin tone or other cultures the one thing I'll never get is people getting upset over a certain amount of overt or implied homosexuality. It's like these people never opened a history book to realize that the very existence of it in some cases was even a huge element of some influential figures. Sure it may have not been out in the open or as accepted across different ages but it's just bizarre how people get so bent out of shape about it as if it's something recently introduced.

@Solius where you at in the first game? A flawed masterpiece is what it is!
Not Solius clearly, but I don’t think the first one was a masterpiece. It was definitely a very good time if you were able to deal with its unconventional aspects (I was), but I also wouldn’t say it was incredible at anything and hence a masterpiece. A solid 8 - 8.5 /10 game for me.

Finished the counterfeit money stuff and now got to infiltrate some people in Sasau by being recruited at the church.

All I’ve been doing is clearing up side quests though and rebuilding Pribyslativz. Sometimes I’m in the middle of one and I speak to some random person who then sets off like a 4 act quest. They didn’t even show up on the map as having anything for me  sometimes it makes me laugh how I’ll find a mission I would’ve completely missed if I never bumped into that person and decided to speak to them.

Don’t know about you, but I’ve also stopped just picking up every random quest I see (like I would in other open world games!). I’ve had a couple that are time critical that I’ve been too slow to respond too and subsequently failed at so I’m trying to complete the full chain before picking up new ones now.

I'm reading that the have mostly kept the same save system with a little more autosaving which is disappointing but I'm used to it now so not a deal breaker.

I just hope they've introduced the ability to pause during dialog/cutscenes as that drives me nuts.

Will duck out of this thread now til I’m caught up. Might even take a break after finishing the first as to not burn out on the gameplay loop.

Only a matter of time til a mod is introduced to allow for more frequent saving like already exists for the first installment. Of course, that only benefits PC players however.

This is the one feature I don't understand why they've stubbornly kept. I love the realism in this game, but I also love to occasionally save scum or just go on a rampage and terrorise an entire village. I could understand them implementing a frugal save system in a hardcore difficulty level, but just let me save scum man. Good thing I'm on PC and mods will rectify that.

Why not just make a bunch of saviour schnapps?

I can, but just feels a little unnecessary. Would rather have the quicksave keybind ready, especially since I primarily play stealthy in these sorts of games.

Just been playing the prologue. I can already tell the game's going to consume my life for the foreseeable.

Kinda struggled to get into the first game. Is this more of the same? I found it a bit hard to get the hang of.

Its essentially the first game, but with slightly more polished mechanics and on a bigger scale. If you didn't like the first game then honestly I doubt you'd feel any differently with this one.

What didn't you like about the first?

Fair enough, my brother would be the same. I really enjoyed the saving system, added weight to the my decision making and just added to an already incredibly immersive experience.

The first was one of my all time favourite games but I don't currently have anything to play the second one, I'll have to get myself a PS5 soon so I can chuck away a few hundred hours of my life.

Caved and bought at a decent discount on CD Keys. I have the first, but never played more than a half hour. Sounds like this is more of the same, but better, so I think I'll just watch a story recap and dive in.

Same camp, I will definitely be looking for a mod to let me save scum and try some unorthodox stealth attempts. That's one of my favourite things to do in any immersive sim type game.

Made it through the prologue (I guess being home with COVID has its perks????) and now remember how much I loved the first. This one looks to be a great bromance/buddy comedy. Hans and Henry!

I think I struggled a bit with the combat and limited saving iirc. I don't think I gave it much of a chance though.

It takes some time but once you get used to those bits it’s such good fun. It’s so immersive. Probably one of the best games I’ve ever played I reckon.

Anyway I’m definitely leaving the thread now.

Definitely curious about this. Only thing holding me back is the combat looks super clunky and almost Skyrim like... Used to love Skyrim but feels like it'd be super outdated. What do those who have it think? Does it feel awkward or is it pretty smooth to use?

Dammit we have basically the same taste in games so now I really want to play the first one.

Its nothing like Skyrim or any Bethesda game's combat for that matter. It is a lot slower and methodological. You don't just awkwardly spam a swing attack until the enemy dies, in fact it'll get you killed quite often rushing into a fight all (swords) blazing. It appears initially quite frustrating but becomes incredibly satisfying once you get the hang of it.

I'm actually not a huge fan of Skyrim, and truth be told the last ES games I sincerely loved was Morrowind. I love this though.

I'd say give it another go. The save system is annoying, but not entirely a dealbreaker, and if you're on PC its easily remedied by mods. The combat takes a bit of getting used to but once it clicks you'll really enjoy the experience. Its worth exhausting the training with whats his name near the beginning of the game. Or just skip to this game where it feels a lit bit more intuitive.

Liking it so far, but holy feck did I forget how much I hated/hate the save system.Wasted an hour of game play tonight after forgetting only special beds allow you to save.

Yeah I pretty much caved and downloaded the unlimited saves mod.

I'm all for the realism in this game, but considering how expensive the save schnapps are, and how too far and few in between save beds are in the early game, it was brutal losing an hour of progress because I get ambushed by some wolves.

I'll probably look to remove it once I've actually levelled my skills up a bit and have a more healthy supply of the schnapps but until then its a mechanic that can get in the bin.
