Kim Min-Jae

Remember guys that we missed the chance to sign Kim because we waited too long, while negotiating Mounts transfer with Chelsea. And also making him believe he wouldn't start for us because of Varane and Martinez. A few months later Johnny Evans is starting

How's he doing there? I thought he was impressive against us in the Champions League and he and Martinez might have made a good centre-back duo had he moved here but it wasn't to be :(

He is doing great so far

I was convinced we were going to sign him. Hopefully one of the final feck ups of the Glazer run era
He wanted to come to us apparently but we waited too long because we had to get done the Mount deal first :wenger:

Rightly or wrongly United never had any concrete interest in him infact it was downplayed by our usual sources quite early so I don't know where you are getting the information that we had to do Mount's deal first .

Exactly. It's just people trying to cope with the fact that we didn't nab him. Would have loved him for sure but what can you do?

He's been blown away by the pace in the Madrid frontline tonight. Totally unable to cope with their quickness.

Dier alongside him too.. Tuchel is the best manager ever if he wins with that defence

Why doesn’t De Ligt play?

Bad game but he's still a good defender

Poor game, the penalty was also rash Dier to his credit read the situation and provided cover.

Last year was Upamecano. This year Kim. I guess next year will be Dier who will cost them a semi final.

Most of those Napoli stars of last season have looked a shadow of themselves this season - Kim, Kvara, Osimhen... I think Spalletti was a big reason why they performed so well.

He looked quite quick for such a big guy whenever I saw him last season. Poor game.

As much as many of us wanted him last summer, you watch a match like today and realize that he isn't the right guy to play a high line with, so I don't think we'd have been any better off.

Horrible game. De Ligt being out was a massive blow.
We score the exact same goals with De Ligt on the pitch. For the first maybe he doesn't step up but Vini just burns him for pace, and for the second he reacts in exactly the same way Kim did, with the same results

Corridors of uncertainty are clearly his arch nemesis, which means lots and lots of coaching and, if possible, mentoring on the pitch by a wiser and more composed CB partner. If anything, his athleticism buoys him with belief he can always get to balls that slower defenders know instantaneously that they cannot; if you’re going to thunder from point A to C, there’s a lot to be exploited within “B” and someone like Vinicius will be glad to teach you that with all his stutter steps and inviting openings that are illusory bait.

Would take this player in a heartbeat - you won’t face many teams in a season that can overload him with information as well as having the smarts and skill of players like Vinicius - for 70% of a league campaign, what he is, even now, is just fine, and for the remainder, you hope to coach and guide nuance and subtlety into his game, but it looks like he’s going to be problematic for Bayern in the closing phases of the CL, which is literally the last place in football where you can be uncertain or playing on instinct.

Basically, he’ll look two-fold worse than he actually is as issues will be exacerbated by the best players in the world.

Surprising to see Bayern add so many much hyped disappointments in defence. That’s often the difference in these big matches. Madrid will fancy scoring a fee against this lot in the return leg.

Vini‘s movement was great but I don’t see the goal happening in the same way with Dier and de Ligt on the pitch.

I was never impressed by him even when he was playing for Napoli. Had a good season but great defender, No. Not at all. But as usual people blew their gasket when he signed for Bayern as if he was a world class defender. He never was. He would be bang average in the PL.

Poor in some decisive moments. I wonder if he can bounce back from this

Clearly fancies a move here, hence showing he can acclimatise to our style of play quickly...
