dont buy the reportsGiven how tight our reported budget this summer is, we can't be using £25m on a left-back this summer - it's basically the one position in our starting XI that doesn't NEED urgent attention, especially given that basically all of our best players (reportedly) want out, and one has already gone. Priorities have to lay elsewhere, however good he might be.
For such price we should be all over this.
Coleman was very good but unfortunately took up full time football (and went to England) too late. The leg break a couple of years ago was an unfortunate occurrence too. I'd love to have seen how he would have turned out had he focused on football from a young age.Another McCarthy Coleman situation, I reckon. Just doubt he’s up to much at all, outside of blinkered specs.

If we’re the richest club in the league/world, but we consider ourselves “fine” at LB because we have exactly 1 unconvincing LB in the squad...then 1) what’s the point being rich and 2) that’s more small club mentality

I see him as a good fit for the Premier League - has the pace, dynamism and directness. Sound left peg as well. I don't think he's pushed on much in the last 18 months, but he still has plenty of potential. Would be a solid investment for Arsenal. Quite tricky to judge his Champions League performances as Sinclair ahead of him was usually pretty hopeless off the ball and often ended up overloaded against the best opposition. But individually he's looked like he belongs in higher company, having also caused City some problems when they met a couple of years ago.I've only seen highlights, looks ok though hard to tell given nature of Scottish League (no offence Scotland) and lack of competition for Celtic. Would be interested to hear from someone with a better idea... @Gio ?
PS. I wouldn't say Shaw impresses me that much. Ok, nothing to write home about and whether Tierney or someone else, would welcome competition (and squad depth).

His preferred position is also CB and that’s where he sees him self playing eventually.
We need 2 midfielders, a RB,a CB, a RW and possibly a striker. LB is Shaw’s since you aren’t getting better for less that 60 mil and that Dalot and You g can cover for at least another year.
I´ve followed Tierney 2-3 seasons at Celtic, and he had a brilliant breakthrough season under Ronny Deila just 18 years old, and concealed his position in the team the season after. But my feeling is he hasn´t developed much since then. He´s good in all phases of the game, but not really brilliant at anything. I´d imagine Rodgers would like to have him at Leicester, but maybe not a player for any of the top 6 teams. Last season we was injured for longer spells though, which probable set him back a bit. If I were looking at Celtic players, I´d rather sign Kristoffer Ajer (CD) - I actually see him as a greater prospect than Tierney.

£25 million is a no brainer. Shaw is an average player with interludes of playing better. Were spunking £50-60 million on the other side, but we have Young and Dalot to cover. I dont believe for one second the report we only have £100 million to invest in players. If it were true, we may as well pack in now trying for top 4.We don't, we just have more pressing issues

Living in Scotland, I watch Celtic a lot - Tierney would be a big improvement on Luke Shaw. He’s got a similar attitude and mentality to Robertson. However he’s had issues with his hip that’d be my only concern. Think he had surgery recently on it.
You have been misinformed as this isn’t true in the slightest. He is a natural left back who occasionally plays further up field as a left midfielder. Imagine Shaw playing in the Scottish league against Dundee and St. Mirren... You just cannot compare Tierney´s performances against these teams with Shaw´s performances in the PL.
Or you could compare him to Stefan Johansen - player of the year in Scotland - in England, Championship level.Obviously much like you couldn’t compare Van Dijks either and look what’s happened with him.

I found it weird he would say such a thing as he is only 5ft 10 but then Canavaro and Puyol were hardly giants and did alright so maybe he can do it. I think it was on STV I watched it.

Absolutely, it’ll be directed at the board though and tierney would emerge unscathed as far as his relationship with the fans goes.
I don’t think they’ll accept it. He won’t get worse and I don’t see the World Cup being a tournament of left backs so he’ll still command a large fee whenever he goes, as it’s a position a lot of teams need to get right and if he fulfils his potential, he’s easily a top 6 left back. Another reason he might stay though is as I’ve mentioned before, there’s a plan to move him to centre mid eventually.
Well, it is the plan unless he’s being lied to. But I think he’ll have moved on by the time Celtic would be ready to give him a chance in there anyway, and when he moves it’ll be as a left back.
He was wrong about the captaincy but does look like he'll be leaving this summer.The thinking at Celtic is next years league is the most difficult. If they win it, the threat the following year would be smaller (Gerrard gone, no CL money for rangers etc) so the feeing is they get 8 in a row the 9th and 10th will be easier.
As of right now, there’s a verbal agreement that he’ll be given the captaincy next season, but I’m basing my opinion on my sources opinion, and he thinks he might go next summer.

Wouldn't read too much into winning that award three years in a row. Not convinced he deserved it in 15/16, started 23 league games and Celtic got knocked out of both cups and he was woeful in the 3-1 defeat in the league cup vs Ross County. It's not like his assists/goals return was anything great either.Tierney is a quality full back and someone I would love to see the club go for. Talk about a man that would give 100% every game and be a stalwart at the club for many years, he’s only just turned 22.
He won the Scottish young footballer of the year three years in a row from 16-18, I know it’s a limited league but he’s quality and consistent.
