Khéphren Thuram

If we were signing Thuram we'd be underwhelmed but we're heaping praise on Liverpool for missing out on someone they chased for 2 years and then signing a few cheap options?

Yeah no. I've wanted Thuram for months now and he's the type of smart buy you make before he has another top season and doubles the price tag. We've known we needed multiple midfielders all season, and being able to grab a highly rated/talented young one for 35m is good business.

How would you rate and compare the two?
Kone is more B2B, defensively lot more aware, winning midfield duels and ready to pick the ball off the CBs and start moves. Thuram is more of a free roaming kind and involved in the attacking zones, creative and can glide past players

They both are very gifted in tight spaces but I feel Kone is a bit more involved in a game and that edges it for me. He has bossed some big games

Cheers. I've only seen some compilations and Thuram strikes me as having an extra gear in him most players don't, which makes me think he perhaps could have a higher ceiling.

Kone seems to do well evading the press but seems to me more a case of being clever with it and having a good acceleration, than outstanding technique. Makes me question if he can do the same in the Prem where it's more physical and intense.

I am watching him in France - Italy under 21. Top, top talent.

Will Liverpool move back in for him now I wonder. Hopefully Sir Jim tells them to do one.

Looks like a very good player but I don't see any place for him in the team.

We have Mount, Eriksen, Mctominay(until he's sold) and Kobbie who can play there, where he's going to fit ?

I mean it's obvious the smart exchange is selling McT and immediately using those funds for Thuram.

I think the big clue as to where he fits is what you’ve put after Mctominay in brackets
.

Pretty sure that after selling Scott our aim is to bring in Armabat as a sub to Casimiro in the squad. Thuram isn't a DM, he's a CM.
The only guy he can replace is Eriksen but I don't think we'll do it.

We don't really have a Thuram-type midfielder atm. I guess Mainoo's the closest. Maybe we're looking to move towards a different style, but besides the fee offering good value, I don't think he's really a fit currently.

Is he actually any good? And why is he so cheap?

Contract I believe. Yes he’s good and brings a welcome addition of athleticism/technique to a midfield sorely lacking it.

For that price it’s a fecking steal. Even if he’s horrid it’s always a smart decision to pickup talents like this for that cheap. Risk reward profile and all that

INEOS would surely know if he is good for United or not. If he's for sale, I am pretty confident they will try to get him here, unless they don't rate him that much. For that amount you can't get better players.

Must admit not seenmuch of him since he broke through 2/3years ago when I wanted us to signhim, ironically fee was similar thent to now. So didnt see his great season last year, but dont think the fee is just contract related as people are stating....he's had a stinker of a season hasnt he this year?

Cant confirm whether its value or not now,but Iliked his drive, physicality, energy and all round game....certainly think even so at that price heis abetter option than Onana

Yeah for that kind of price would say it's worth it

He’s not really a DM like Onana though, would be a welcome upgrade on McTominay though just with less goal scoring instincts but better as an actual midfielder.

I wonder how much crossover there'll be between us and Nice.

Makes too much sense to get them both but then you'd assume they'd already know about them and wouldn't need to scout.

Yeah the scouting bit is the odd part

Get this guy and Tobido. This should be easy. Both already with Ineos, neither selected for France, both relatively cheap. We should get this done sharpish then we can focus on a left footed cb/lb, Neves and the outgoings. If we get some money from sales, bring in a striker.

50/60 Million for both would be great business and strengthen us massively in two key areas. Seems too easy...

Top, top midfielder. He has physique and technique. He reminds Yaya Touré. For 35m is a bargain.
