Kewell for Utd?

Heard that Harry Kewell has not put pen to sign another contract to stay in Leeds, he told that he will decide when the present contract expires at the end of this season. I just wonder SAF may likely/want to sign Kewell swooping with our Giggs, and by the way, will he fit into our team? Any thoughts/comments??

I've already pointed out several times that Kewell is a player that we should consider, no matter we sell Giggs or not. I believe he is the right player for us who can add more skill, flair and "magic" (as Keano said) to our team.

I won't hold my breath.

But I'll keep my fingers crossed. :)

highly unlikely that Risdale would screwed leeds fan in successive seasons, but i hope he would.
:D

I say we get him to replce Giggs. It would bring down the age of our attackers nicely. Especially if we could add Cisse and Ronaldinho too.

I've said for a while now that HK would be an excellent player for us to sign:

For approx. £10m given the Telland Road financial situation, we would get a left wing/striker, exceptional pace, great finish ability, skill, class, knows the premiership and the required pace, hunger & determination to finally play for a big club and win trophies, Rio to help him settle in. What more evidence do we need, Kewell should be our second summer signing after Cisse!!!

Why dont we just buy Leeds and make them a feeder club. Surely its cheaper than what we're doing at the moment.

I wouldn't mind he seems pretty good.....and looks pretty bored at Leeds....he probably sign a new contract...and may come in the summer
15m ;)

I suggested that last Summer, we paid more for Rio than the worth of the fecking club.

It was on the back of the star yesterday would be a good signing

If Giggs goes i think we'll end up with Kewell or Duff
More than likely Kewell as he would be the easier to sign

It's a non starter IMO. We need a winger to provide competition and backup for Giggs, not a replacement, and Kewell will not play the equal/second fiddle to Ryan Giggs.

And if Giggs does get sold then we will need to then go out and sign two IMO.

What world class winger is going to be happy playing 2nd fiddle to Giggs though Weastie? Fortune and Blonquist have been okay with doing that, but neither of them is of them is anything like the player that Kewell is.

I think that he would sign as Giggs sometimes plays up front with Ruud - but then he's not being played to his major strength which is to run at defenders down the left wing. I can't see any easy solution to this one, but we should buy Kewell if we can

replying to that last remark about world class wingers...harry kewell is very talented, but not world class. he should be happy even being mentioned in the same breath as united.
kewell is the type of footballer who plays when it looks like somebody who might pay him more is watching. otherwise he's a lazy twat.
i like the idea of leeds at as a feeder club, but i'd buy kewell and stick him in the reserves just for a laugh.

top player Kewell, who hasnt reached his full potential yet. and at 10 million he'd be a bargain.

The point is that if they do not have a stupid ego and think that they should be 1st choice no matter what, and they think that they are world class and as good as Ryan Giggs, then of course they will come.

If they do not believe that they are as good as Ryan Giggs, and could challenge him, knock him off his perch, stick him on the bench, then they are not good enough and I wouldn't want them.

Kewell I feel would not risk the challenge.

And even if he did come, I think that Kewell is the type that would probably spit his dummy when he finds out he isn't as good as Ryan Giggs and had to warm the bench. Instead of looking at the age of Ryan Giggs and seeing that his chance would come a few years down the line. We need a good winger, but one that is a team player as well, no primadonnas for United thankyou.

Agree 100 per cent with that.

And you reckon Denlison is a team player and no primadonna? ;)

What??!?!

Imho Harry Kewell IS world class, when he turns it on hes total quality and would be a superb signing if it were to come off.

HK, awesome talent, if there is any chance to sign him we better snap him him. big fan.

Denilson is no primadonna! Not at all.

And he has the class to stand up and look Giggs in the face and say "I'm better than you".

Very important.

Most people just watch the football and for some reason make judgements about the players and how they are. It's only when you see interviews with them as is a constant here in Spain that you can actually get a feel for them.

Many on here do not like Roberto Carlos, but he is the most lovely, wonderful person. He really is.

Denilson is also a really nice chap.

Fair point, but can you name any possible candidates? (which I think is the whole point of this exercise, in which you have ducked the responsibility of naming any potential replacements or deputies).

Personally I agree that perhaps Kewell would not be my number 1 choice but to be honest I really cannot offer a better alternative at this time. We will have to wait and see that if Giggs does go will SAF use him in an exchange etc

hes the one fergie SHOULD sign if he decides to leave otherwise its shit managing by saf if he doesnt buy this champion of a player he has pace which we badly need

We should keep Giggs and go for Ricardo Quesmera(sp?), he is young will be willing to bench warm for a few seasons and provide cover until his chance comes, and he will be world class in my opinion, and cos of our ties with sporting we wont have to break the bank for him.

Though Giggsy is not at his best, I wouldn't want him to go- he still has plenty to offer, e.g. destroying Juve, putting us through to the QF?

I would like us to have a viable alternative, a hungry less established player, that would accept a squad role at first. Ricardo Quaresma sounds excellent, reflected in the clubs persuing him; Real, Juve, and United. Not entirely ready to fill Giggs' boots, but soon, he plays wide right and left like Figo, and is considered a similar quality or better. Actually it would be strange if we didn't sign one of Sportings' young talents considering the new connection, which is said to be stronger than the various partnerships already in place with Antwerp, etc.

I think Kewell would be a fine addition, Fergie singled him out as The Leeds player he liked awhile back. Not quite as good a dribbler as inform Giggs but close, he's tough and a strong finisher. He's got the quality, but has some baggage too.

Duff is another option, though more expensive probably. He is as talented as Kewell IMO, with a good scoring rate, two footed player, he is injury prone though, but a United type player- down to earth, gutsy and hard working and without Kewell's attitude.

Denilson is another talent, just the usual reservations about the latino adjustment factor.

Overmars' name has come up also. He's got prem experience but is no spring chicken.

I'd go for Damien Duff over Kewell. Duff would add some Irish magic down the wing and is a hard worker, consistent and has good attitude. Fergie would bring out the best in him.

Just my humble opinion! ;)

I am sure Kewell will not be half as much of a problem as Ronaldinho would seemingly be. I would prefer Kewell to Ronaldinho, surely.

duff over kewell for me. less time spent swannin off round the world to play against sides like Papua New Guinea

Giggs is United through and through. If we do buy a left sided player it should be for cover and not as a replacement for Giggs who is still by far the greatest left sided winger in the world. feck Recoba, Kewell, and Duff. Obviously Fortune could make way for any of the fore mentioned but we shouldn't write off Giggs so quickly. Think back to all the transfer speculation thats gone on around him for years. We need cover not a replacment!
If he's not the player he once was what was all that about in Turin? Can you imagine Kewell doing the same?
