Kevin De Bruyne

That's pretty harsh, he ran the game in the first leg. No player turns up in every big game

You are right but wouldn’t call him the ultimate big game player, he’s good in some, but I can remember a few average performances also, it’s the word ultimate that I have issue with but I’m just being pedantic.

Ultimate big game player. He didn’t deserve to lose to Madrid but City did.

Having a so called average season but still top class and it’s madness when we compared Bruno to him. Both considered to not being having a good season yet the difference between both is night and day
I agree, but the one big game he actually bottled a bit was the second leg against Madrid. He was horrid

Agree, I do feel City are lacking in strong characters but surprisingly he ain't one of em.

Would have loved to have him over here but alas.

Comparisons with Bruno aren't very apt i feel, kdb is much more of a metronome passer.

Has gone missing with Belgium and has no champions league titles. Would ease up on putting in him any best ever bracket.

RedCafe always gets giddy when de Bruyne strings a few decent performances together.

This season he definitely isn’t the best in the world but still is so good and so effective when it matters. I remember 2 seasons ago Roy Keane saying he KDB was a better player than him and that was when he was at his peak.
KDB will go down as one of the PL best but definitely not the best in the world at the moment
Roy can be quite humble at times, I still feel Keane was superior (no kdb performance reaches what Keane did in turin).
Still the fact he could say that and people agree with him shows how great kdb is.

I feel that KDB is definitely up there if not above Keane for me overall as that performance in Turin from Keane is still the best I’ve seen from any CM in history so KDB not having a performance like that means nothing.

The thing the hurts KDB the most is that he plays for City so his great big game performances like Madrid in 19-20 get forgotten. People more easily remember the times he and City failed (because it's really funny). In 55 Big 6 games in the PL he has 19 goals and 11 assists, against the rest of the league he has 37+74 in 153 games. That means that De Bruyne scores 0,34 Goals Per Game against the big 6 and 0,24 against the rest of the league. His assists are obviously way higher against the rest of the league when City score a ton of goals. I think KDB has been a great player in the biggest games.

Keane was technically a very inferior player to kdb

Funny how Mourinho didn’t mention him in his latest wide ranging PR piece he did today.

How many goals could Wolves have avoided today by man marking De Bryune? The answer? 4.

What a player. Proud to be Belgian when watching this guy. Pity he’s playing for the wrong team.

Man marking is all good but you free up space all over the pitch for others so while KDB wouldn’t score 4 city still would of

For most players no, but for KDB I would. Opening up the space would be worth the trade of not getting De Bruyne the ball.

Absolutely no doubt but in PL history when talking about the best players how many where technically better than KDB

Probably one and he was so much better looking too. Plus he wasn't ginger.

The question is, what does Gerrard do better than KDB? Other than manage
I’m in the boat that KDB is better than Gerrard, Lampard and Scholes and that’s not downplaying any of the 3.

All them 3 will be considered more legendary to the PL as they spend 15+ years here but KDB is better for me

He was inferior perhaps but not as big as you make it i reckon.

I'm probably biased but I know who I would want in my team.
They are basically different players. Ideally one should have both Keane and KDB in the side

Technically this is close but all round KDB is better. KDB also has the best assists per minute in PL history

Nah.

Beckham was much better at everything, if he played the role KDB played now he'd have way more goals and assists.

Yeah spot on as it’s obvious that KDB is technically better but that comparison isn’t fair. As Keane said himself KDB has that gift of the ball sticking to him then he runs which Keane said he had to wrestle with.

But KDB doesn’t have the engine and the tenacity that Keane brings

People won't like to hear this....I have him ahead of all the more attacking midfielders, probably all midfielders too ( closely followed by Keane). He's been the leagues best player since 16/17..and the league has been string on talent during this period.

I fecking hate it that he's at City. Cnut.

Not just him though. Courtois, Kompany, Hazard, Lukaku, ... Most of our "heroes" have played for some dire clubs which makes it hard to "really" root for them when they are playing for Belgium. I love it when we do well but I don't particularly like any of our best players.

Yeah agreed and I don't think it's particularly close. He basically combines all the best things of the 3 with almost none of the weaknesses.

Belgium aren't a titan but he has provided them their best moments in their history. The first time the played a quarter-final at the world cup guess who scored the winner in Ro16, as did the first time they played a Semi he was MOTM in the quarters.

He also out City in their first semi in the CL in his first season.

If he played with someone like Ronaldo, Messi, Lewa or Suarez. He would have had more success in intercontinental competitions.

Some people will say Salah but for me it's an easy choice over who is the one PL player I'm taking in my team from the past few years. Salah is good and puts up nice numbers. KDB is the complete package.

Yeah not having that at all. I feel you are in the minority there and I’m a huge Becks fan

Scored 62 PL goals primarily from the wing also had 80 assists. And had a way better engine than KDB. Put Beckham in his role and he would 100% score way more goals and get more assists from that area.
