Kevin De Bruyne

I think De Bruyne is actually much more versatile and has a better work ethic than Mata but as far as buying him goes I really want to see us invest in our weak areas first before we think about replacing a great attacking midfielder with one that would maybe fit our demands slightly better.
Harder working is true, but he is similar placed and would rather come to the ball and play inside the lines. I think we need somebody who will stretch play, and give us a change of pace in attack.

The ultimate highlights player. Every game is the same, plays like shit then pops up with a sick goal or an assist and ends up being hailed man of the match.

Would be an useless signing, so, knowing us, it will probably happen.

Umm, how many times have you watched him play? He's basically involved in every single attack when he plays for Wolfsburg.

I don't watch German league, but I've seen almost all his games for Belgium last year and it was always the same. Every single time.

We sold Welbeck.

He'd have been very useful this season and would probably have got a lot of minutes. If he wanted a guarantee of first team football he probably had to go in fairness.

Is he guaranteed first team football at Arsenal.

He was starting pretty much every game when he first went there, and you can see why he'd fancy his chances against Giroud and Sanogo better than Rooney RvP and Falcao. It's a shame he left whatever the reason, I always thought he'd turn out to be a useful player if not one that would set the world alight.

Sanchez, ozil, Walcott, Cazorla and giroud are all ahead of welbz at arsenal.

He will be a bench player and get 20 mins in matches.

Well if that's the case then he was clearly not good enough for us either. Welbeck was not the answer to our problems, and neither is playing Di Maria as a striker.

You mean a guy that averages 7 participations on shots per match in the Bundesliga (about half as key pass/half as shot) and that averages nearly 10 in the Europa League (against opponents Everton, Lille and Krasnodar) is playing shit and only pops up with an assist or a goal?

The problem of Wolfsburg is that they lack a top striker.

DeBruyne needs to get better in goal scoring. He is still too wasteful.

"7 participations on shots" Well, I'm sold!

That's my favorite thing about stats, if you bend them the right way, you can make every donkey look like Maradona.

You're really wrong in this case, though. I don't know what you're talking about with the Belgian comment either, the Belgian forumers on here will tell you themselves that De Bruyne is the most influential player for the national side.

His passing range is incredible, but supposedly he was sold by us because his attitude in training stank and there were a lot of party photos appearing on his social media. Didn't exactly seem like he was dedicated completely to earning his way into the team, but who knows really without having been there.

He seems a lot like Herrera from the little I've seen of him, not sure why LVG would want another Herrera when he doesn't play the one we have.

He's a lot stronger physically than Herrera. Which might have something to do with why LVG is currently playing Fellaini.

Yes he was 4 Goals and 4 assists in 8 WC qualifiers. He was involved in a few more goals as well (pass prior to the assist etc.)

Don't get the Mata references even in speed. De Bruyne can handle is the physical aspect of the game with little issue. De Bruyne isn't Aaron Lennon but he's plenty fast.

He can be quite wasteful at times but even with sme of his poor performances he can still create goals.

Yeah like I said we need to fix other areas in our team before even thinking about buying another number 10. The price is also going to be an issue I guess since I doubt Wolfsburg would be willing to part with him cheaply.

A lot of you are saying this is an LVG transfer but I can't help but think that Woodward is De Bruynes behind the operation.

This story could get very interesting. Wolfsburg doesnt need 30 million. The company behind the club makes more profit then PL makes revenue.
And his cotract runs till 2019!
We could see the first 50+ million euros transfer in German history here. Really cant see him leave below that. And we wont leave this january, now way.

His agent said today that De Bruyne is fully committed to Wolfsburg and only focused on making the Champions League next year. The odds of him leaving this window are very, very slim.

Don't want him anywhere near United. Firstly he's a Chelsea reject and secondly when he did actually get a game for them he looked average at best.

I don't think 'Chelsea reject' should be in our thinking when we're looking to buy a player. We all know Chelsea love signing players for the sake of it to stop others getting them, and when they can't get games, they move them on.

Matic, Robben, Sturridge, Bertrand, hell even our very own Mata have been decent since they were moved on from Chelsea.

If he's good enough, we'll sign him.

In the same way that the guy you reference in your username was an Arsenal reject?

The difference is there though Andy Cole was actually a good player. As I mentioned in my previous post I do not believe De Bruyne is.

Well that's your argument then. The fact he's a 'Chelsea reject' is irrelevant.

I think he's an alright player, but I'd rather we played Herrera now and again than sign another similar midfielder.

De Bruyne has been playing really well and if we signed him we should be moving toward playing just one striker which is my preference. However, Wolfsburg are quite rich, and won't sell when they have a good chance of reaching the Champions League.

Well if national team performance is the barometer, then what are your thoughts on Wayne Rooney?

In my case, I have no clue, as I've neither watched De Bruyne for his national team (well except for a game or two at the last World Cup) nor for Wolfsburg.

He's top mustard. Nobody wanted to listen...

Chelsea reject, not good enough for United.

He could definitely do a job here on the wing but perhaps LVG will go for Depay instead come the summer
On the wing? If we sign him he'd be the best player we have capable of playing through the centre.

Mata, Rooney and Di Maria?
Di Maria isn't a #10, he requires more space ahead of him to drive forward with the ball. If it was a case of a left sided midfielder in a three man midfield, then Di Maria wins. Mata isn't anywhere near the standard he once was, and De Bruyne has been far better than him this season. Rooney is a fantastic player but I'd prefer him as a striker.
When was the last time a player of ours dominated from the #10 role in a game of this magnitude? De Bruyne is a fantastic talent.

Didn't Di Maria play a fair few games at #10 for Real last season? Fairly sure I remember that.....

Anyway, my point is that someone like Mata had a much higher peak than De Bruyne has had (so far) but has still struggled to repeat that form here. I don't see why De Bruyne would be any less susceptible to the general malaise that hangs over our attacking play atm. Finding a way to get more out of Mata makes more sense then replacing him.
