I mean you will be in for a huge shock if you really believe what nearly all rappers say in their songs to be what they do in real life. The only one who I can think of that has some sort of claiming of really living that life was Eazy E.

But that's OK, a bit of variation and touching on different subjects is a good thing. If you watch the music video of 2 of Americaz most wanted it was just a amplified/dramatised version of what Snoop and Pac went through with their court cases. But for every gangster type song you had a only good can judge me or wonday why they call you B song on the album.

Obviously it comes down to personal taste in a way as well so I've got no problem with anybody thinking Kendrick is top 5.

Kendricks discography is better than BIGs though
You could maybe argue on the influence point with regard to biggies impact but I'd have no problem putting kendrick above him in an all time list at this point . BIG is very much the one that got away in my mind, such tremendous ability taken so early in his career.

His early stuff was by far his best I only have a problem with his output at death row when he tried to be a gangsta which didn't suit him or his best flow.

Again it's just people's opinions but for a guy and it's the same as Biggie who are always rated on top five lists they are both very much overrated.

I seriously doubt it. Their legacy is based as much on the lives they lived and how they died as much as it is through their music.

Kendrick has a much better collection of work to his name than both Biggie and Pac

Disagree with this, both were pretty versatile and able to touch on multiple subjects (more so Tupac in this respect), this was proven in their short careers. With Tupac, every album he put out was a different style/subject matter. Think they would have adapted just fine. But I think Tupac would have quit rapping as he got older anyway, he preferred acting.

And BTW guys like Kendrick and Cole are offshoots of parts Tupac's style most modern rappers don't deny they have been influenced by him.

Most modern fans I know like my lil nephew for example think Drake is old school which at least means they don't like him I guess they have never heard of Nas or Illmatic which kills me and only listen to Travis or Lil Uzi Vert.

I try and be happy they are kinda listening to hip hop even if it's terrible but hard to not die inside.

I’m a fan of Nas and have been to see him live, but this is nonsense. Nas hasn’t turned out a classic since Illmatic.

He's not someone you can just pick up and listen to a few tracks, you have to listen to his albums as whole to really appreciate his work. Imo this is one of his limitations. Some of his music is quite polarising too, you'll find opinions on both ends of the spectrum.

You must not like his style of rap, imo he has yet to put a bad album out. As for classic this is subjective but imo it was written and KD2 are for me.

Yeah, imagine randomly listening to "For Free" or "u" from TPAB for the first time with no context. You'd be completely lost.

The consensus seems to have changed with his discography. Originally there was disappointment when It Was Written was released as it wasn’t as good as Illmatic. He then followed it up with two poor albums before coming back with what I consider a classic, Stillmatic.

IWW going by old source ratings would be 4.5/5. Just below a classic but still great.

That's fair enough. It is hard to follow up Illmatic though. Arguably it is a perfect album and it was I believe the first album across genres to have lots of different producers on the album whereas everyone else had one producer one album. But for me had he never released Illmatic, IWW would be considered a classic. It's just that can't really ever beat Illmatic. Off topic but for me the only rapper I can think of off the top of my head who produced a classic in their first album and then produced another is Jay Z (Reasonable Doubt ---> 4:44) but I recognise that's an unpopular opinion.

I would agree Jay-Z might have done it, but with Blueprint instead of 4:44.

:lol: Did you read the first part of my post? I've been listening to Nas for over 20 years and consider him to be one of the best. However, I wouldn't kid myself into saying that he has more than one classic album.
