Keir Starmer Labour Leader

He’s somewhat gone against the Trump grain, welcomed Zelenskyy with open arms and given him unconditional support.

It’s good news. I don’t think he would have done this if he hadn’t already been in contact with other prominent leaders and established a consensus.

Starmer has been pretty good the last few days and is beginning to grow into the role.

He’s in a no-win situation (and I’m not a Starner fan). It’s almost impossible to walk this political tightrope.

Absolutely, giving him a state visit 24 hours before he stabs the Ukrainians in the back was classic statesmanship.

Good to know the ironclad Fiscal Rules have enough wiggle room for another £2.26 billion for Ukraine today. Can we get Putin to try and invade the DWP?

It's a really strange 'loan' too, apparently will be paid back off frozen Russian assets, something Europe hasn't been able to do despite multiple calls to do so since the war started.

It might be an old policy that they dressed up for some good press. From October 2024

It is only theatre at this point. Luckily Starmer has no fixed values, policies or ideals and is happy to change his position depending on which way the wind is blowing. So he is well suited to walk along this tightrope. Just don't expect anybody principles or tangible benefits.

How his efforts regarding the war in Ukraine are seen, generally, by the British public?

Remains to be seen really, not sure if any polling has been done, the press has been generally pretty glowing, and even left and right wing commentators have made the point he’s at least doing well with a bad hand.

Anecdotally, as a Labour supporter and critic of starmer, I think he’s stepped up to the plate and doing the best job he can do really at the moment. The hard work is still to be done.
