I think the fact that Keane is now no longer in Japan is down to him yes...

You can argue that MM shouldnt have called a meeting or whatever, but its secondary to the fact that Keane's reaction led to him being sent home

I think we need closure on this issue and if you want to discuss the matter further you should do so offline. In the name of best practices as regards forum discussion let us not allow the forum to become top end bloated.

So, basically, if FAI had been a professional unit, there wouldn't have been a problem

If McCarthy had been a good man manager it wouldn't have come to this

If Keano had been more sensible and diplomatic, he wouldn't have been sent hom

That seems to be the basic of it all

You only concentrate on the third point - not surprisingly knowing you..

Why not just ignore the thread if you're not interested?

The other matters are secondary to what Keane did, whether the FAI provided proper facilities or whether Keane was being "petty" is debatable...

Whether MM was right to call a meeting is debatable..

Whether Keane was in the wrong to sound off like a 5 year old after previously having mucked the squad about by quitting once and then changing his mind is not debatable...he was wrong to do so..

You're just trying to play the incident down as you don't want to admit that Keane acted like a twat...no surprise knowing you...

Hey, Jebediah the Goofer ! I don't think you realize how exhausted travelling makes you, both physically and mentally, on long distance trips like this. I travel about 100 days a year myself, and if things are not laid out properly you will be absolutely drained. What a smart thing to do to top athletes whom you want to perform in Korean midsummerheat.
It's not about the status of 1st class, but footballers are big and tall, and the seats in economy class usually have unsufficient leg space, causing the players to be crammed in their seats for a 25-30 hour trip. Silly, if you ask me...
