Justin Bijlow - Feyenoord keeper

Billow plays under Arne Slot.

That is the mad bastard who came 5 years out of his box to make a slide tackle then stopped the quick throw in by throwing another ball into the field of play as a player from Twente was getting ready to look for an easy soring chance.

Get him in. Genius level shit right there.

Billow plays under Arne Slot.

People are going to have fun pronouncing his name.

In any case, Arne Slot is a lot like Ten Hag (and possibly as good, too; certainly as bald), so whatever player works for him will likely work for Ten Hag as well. Bijlow is also a very promising goalkeeper, but he'd obviously be second choice at United.

But I guess it might also just be another case of linking United to whatever Dutch player may or may not be on the market. :D

Bijlow might be a over qualified yo be #2? But who knows.

Onana and Bijlow would be brilliant imo.

Agreed. Slot is a fantastic up and coming coach.

Considering how injury prone Justin is Being number two would be best for him.

Right, that was him! Yes, that was amazing; here it is again:

Yeah, you'd think it would make sense for him to go to a mid-EPL club where he could be a starter. But yes, it would be a great combo for United and I imagine Bijlow would be quite cheap.

He might need his own thread though, if this link is real. (As if that's the criterion for creating a thread in the transfer forum. :D )

There's that, yeah. Probably the main thing holding him back, also from becoming the Dutch #1. And now he's got Verbruggen behind him to take that position away before he can make it his own.

For the shithousery alone I want us to sign him now. We've become too nice in that department.

Watching highlights, couple of things.

The good: passing and escaping the press, looks very good. Nice flat pings to the forwards, control and touch is great.

The bad: his handling looks poor, a lot of his saves just hit him and he seems genuinely uncoordinated.

@Cheimoon

The 1908 are said to be reliable as well when it comes to Feyenoord.

Just so you know - I asked admin to create a new thread about Bijlow and move these posts there (since it's not really Onana-related), and that seems to have happened here. :)

Would he be happy to give up a number 1 spot and become a number 2?
Maybe if he's promised that he'll get to play in the domestic cups, and myabe the CL group stage.

Or maybe he'd just loved to be part of United one way or another!

Possibly but is he not the Dutch number 1 international GK? Becoming 2nd choice might hinder his chance of retaining that number 1 position when there’s a European Championship next summer. Especially with that Verbuggen fella from Anderlecht who is meant to be highly rated.

Take nothing away, I wouldn’t mind having him here but someone that young for a GK and still capable of being a number 1 at a good level, I’d be surprised if he was happy to warm the bench for a large portion of the season when there is a European championship in 12 months time.

Sign him up for this alone. Galaxy brain stuff.

Why has no one tagged him yet? It's even about Feyenoord.

This is the bit where we leak that we have “other options” while we put for are a bid for our main target.

One of the reasons De Gea played so much last year was that we had no other keeper that EtH trusted. Getting a second, back up keeper would be a very good idea.

Yeah, good point; better make sure Van Gaal (well, now Koeman) doesn't get in his ear like he did with Timber!

Anyway, I don't know. This might anyway be a vague rumour for now for all we know. But you're right, and I've also said above that I'd rather expect Bijlow to go to a lower-profile club where he can be first choice next.

I always assumed that the fires are lit on the peak of Vaalserberg in cases like this.
Possibly - I'll be there in a couple of weeks to check it out. I'll let you know how the view of The Hague is from there.

Why did no one tag me?!white text

Not good enough to be United's first keeper and bit weird to go for such a clear spot on the bench.

On the other hand, they might have Onana pee in a cup again.

I've never been to the Vaalserberg. Wave to us when you're there.

Would be nowhere near good enough to be our #1, and probably too expensive for #2. Hope these are tricks in order to get Onana for cheap.

Otherwise, EtH must be really stopped.

Is the 1908 reliable? Is this a signing that will happen in your opinion?

Yes. Especially when they mark news as "confirmed" it's almost always true

No idea if it will happen, came out of nowhere for me. I can't really imagine he will make a move to sit on the bench unless he thinks he can somehow dislodge Onana as 1st keeper should he also come.

Thanks. In that case it's encouraging to hear that we are after a number 2 keeper in addition to Onana.

This is what made me wonder whether Bijlow was really being lined up as cheap competition for De Gea in the event that we extend the latter's contract. Hopefully it's as they report it.

We did talk about you! Does that count?

i got my first bijlow behind the bike sheds when i was 13. it felt quite nice but it was rudely interrupted when the bell rang and mr. gleeson had to go back to his classroom for year 9 psre.

All for it

A backup keeper should fit the playstyle of the first team. Ortega at City in the final being a good example.

Signing 2 keepers is to be expected if we do lose de Gea and Henderson... Other than that, doubt he'd play much unless it's de Gea stays and no Onana
