Just felt an Earthquake ....

Everyone on social media seems to be joking about this, but 4.8 isn't that weak. Were the shakes strong enough to cause hanging items to potentially fall down?
You would only know that if they fell down would'nt you?

Yikes. Guess that made you count your blessings after hearing that. Nature is indeed scary. For Gods favorite country as some people call this we sure have our fair share of major natural disaster threats.

Was nice knowing ya. I would have tried your curry for what its worth.
It might be a little too spicy for you. :p

I used to think the same thing; until I did. Now I never want to experience one again.

You're around the ring of fire, with subduction zone quakes that can last a long time. These quakes in eastern North America are not nearly as bad.

Crazy! Got a text from our son, lives in Manhattan about it today. He certainly felt it! His collection of colognes almost fell to the ground! So it was not an insignificant strength.

blimey, close shave.

Glad he's okay. How many colognes does he have?

YSL is good stuff
He is doing fine! He used to do a YouTube channel to review colognes years ago. Not sure but it must have over 100! When he moved from his Toronto apartment - he spent hours bubble wrapping them even though he was taking a truck there! They are so precious to him.

During an earthquake I'm picturing everyone grabbing their dogs and children and running for their lives but your son would be grabbing his precious colognes.

RiP @Raoul
I lived in the NW for a while and that threat of an all destructive earthquake kind of fecks with your mind if you think about it too much.

We get a bit of rumbling on a semi-regular basis. Its been a while since there was a big one so many are expecting it sooner or later. By big one I mean something comparable to the 94 Northridge quake.

Were you living in LA in 1994?

 at rimaldo. great stuff.

I didn't feel it in Irvine. No one I spoke to at work did either. What bothered me though is when I looked the Quake app there was a swarm near the Grapevine. That's not the 1st swarm recently either as the Salton sea area has had a bunch too. And the Japanese are warning of a megaquake...
Eerie.

Just had one here in LA. A bit of shaking. Expecting the big one at some point.
It was pretty strong where I live. Sounded like a hurricane rushing in, you can hear the seismic wave approach, then it rattled the windows and shook the wall hangings. It's so weird when you're in one, cuz at first it doesn't seem to be an earthquake, then you start wondering how long it will last. And then an aftershock will get you a few minutes later.

I was in LA for the 94 Northridge quake. It was pretty scary. All kinds of shit flying off the shelves, felt like a giant was trying to pry the roof off the house. And I was in Manhattan Beach, a good 40 minutes away from Northridge. My friend's place was destroyed and got red-tagged. There were buildings all over that part of the city red-tagged, and several parts of the 10 Fwy simply collapsed.

It's not weak by any means although not dangerous, and more than enough to wake you up if asleep and give anyone a good scare. Especially if you're indoor and not familiar with the phenomenon.
