Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

For the CL QF, most of Liverpool's players should be back. (Obviously not the centre backs). Depending on the draw, it won't surprise me if they get to another final.
Hope I'm wrong.

Leipzig could do them yet, mate.

Wouldn’t rule out that tie going to extra-time on the night to be honest.

Very bad champions. Worst title defence from one of the supposed best PL teams (which they've now proven not to be) in memory. It's quite mad how lost they look.
I think it’s clear that last year was just a bizarre season, with the experimental introduction of VAR, the disruption of COVID, the rule changes, the fact that Liverpool were so lucky with injuries, etc.

Yeah know it would never happen with Woody here after the Disneyland stuff but the incredible thing is some of our fanbase would still happily take Ole over a top class proven manager like him but there you go
The majority of our fan base is deluded. They are blinded by sentiment, nostalgia & romance. With the approach they advocate we’d stay behind City forever. We’re basically Liverpool in the 90’s right now. “Stick with Souness/Evans, he’s a Liverpool man & knows the Liverpool way”

Did us more wrong than good, and we were already too far ahead to be caught before the corona break and the rule changes. Not like we didn't get to 97 points the season before that either.

I'd say that this season is as much a freak season as the two before this and that our true level is somewhere in the middle.

Now we need Bundesliga fans to tell us that Klopp's team going downhill after 2-3 seasons is just a myth and that it never actually happend.

Agreed.

It's already march, and Liverpool still have less goals in this calendar year at Anfield than Everton. If they don't score against Fulham on sunday or Leipzig on wednesday, that record will go into april.

Leipzig will be played in Budapest.

I don't think he will be sacked. He has done wonder for Liverpool. 97 and 99 points finish in the last 2 season with CL and PL champion medal.

Most probably he will resign and look for new challenges.

It will be interesting to see what he can do with money especially at RM, Barca, Juve, PSG or BM.

good point, he didn’t spend any money or buy players at Liverpool

Watch Liverpool make it to the final and face a Porto team that fluked its way through. I wonder if that would overtake the one against Spurs as the easiest CL final opponent anyone has had in the 21st century.

That... would indeed be a myth, considering we won the CL in his 4th season and the league in his 5th season.

Yeah I have rated Klopp since the Dortmund days but don't worry there is more chance of hell freezing over than a Liverpool manager ever going on to join United because it is sacrilege and rightfully so
Oh, really, he managed Dortmund? Which is it? Would you take Liverpool’s ex manager now or not?

The question wasn’t if you want Ole, it was if you’d take Klopp, the Liverpool manager, if you had the chance. Dimwit. You’re quite clearly obsessed though, so no surprise there.

It was also Klopp's 7th season in Dortmund. But anyway. :)

It does seem to be a pattern with Klopp unfortunately. :(

However his 10th-13th seasons were great, world's best even, albeit not at Dortmund. If that is going to be the pattern again I'd rather keep him than see him repeat his magic with some other club. A bit like how Dortmund should have kept him.

Question for the Pool supporters in here:

If Klopp doesn't win another trophy with you and leaves the club in an even bigger mess than it was when he arrived, would you still consider him a Liverpool legend? On the one hand, he's easily the best manager you've had since the 80's, and it's not even close. On the other hand, it must feel bittersweet to reach the promised land in such a convincing fashion only to have everything fall apart so spectacularly and be back to square one already after 2 years.

He's definitely remembered fondly in Dortmund, but they never really had a dynasty like you guys did so it goes without saying that he's a legend there. Then again, dynasties may be a thing of the past in the PL(unless Pep decides to stay indefinitely).

How could Klopp ever leave us in a bigger mess than the shit he walked into? That level of mess would happen BECAUSE Klopp leaves and we go back to mortal managers.

Edit: and because you are blindly following the narrative, we have no injuries except VvD. When we get no injuries to only VvD we will already be better.

Easy. Let's say he leaves in 2023 or 2024 after just having finished outside of the top 4. Let's also say that most of his signings in the transfer windows from now don't work out.

Outside top 4, old squad, most young/prime players not good enough. That is certainly a mess comparable to what he took over, no? I'm not saying that any of this is likely, btw. But if it happens, would he still be considered a legend? Has he won enough already, basically?

Klopp would have to shoot King Kenny and Stevie G at this point to undo his legend status

Mah, they’re a fickle bunch. They turned on Suarez quickly enough when he played against them for Barca.

Imagine if he went to another club, and they played Liverpool, and won with a dodgy decision.

They’d be foaming at the mouth

He'll be a Liverpool legend regardless of what happens between now and him leaving the club. I'd also argue that if he left right now, he'd leave behind a better squad than Rodgers left him.

I agree about the dynasty thing in modern football. It's not a common occurrence any more. I think Pep will be off in a couple of years.

This is my big worry going into that one but it's not being played at Anfield so we'll probably be ok. Fulham will fancy it on Sunday though.

Fulham are certainly playing better than their results suggest but I think this will be a comfortable 2-0 win for you lot, similar to the Sheffield United game.

Was watching Attack on Titan the other day and realised they must have made one of the Germanic characters based on Klopp

Oh, so you mean hypothetical scenarios. Like you say, none of that is likely. Has he won enough already? Really, that's a question? If he wins nothing for the next four years he's won more than I could have ever dreamed of.

I will stop laughing at them until they have been knocked out of the CL.
They can still beat anyone on their day and have enough CL experience even if they are not as good as they used to be.
