Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

That is such an incredibly flawed way of looking at things. The best team in the league doesn't always sit top of the league. Or would you argue then that up until a week or so ago Liverpool had been the best team in the league? And that Lyon is the best team in Ligue 1?

Fecking hell.
Brilliant. If you’re top of the league you’ve been the best team in the league up until that point it’s not difficult to understand is it. Only a scouser would sit here and say the league table doesn’t show which team has been the best.

In terms of results, yes. In terms of performances, play or potential, not necessarily. And that's why I'm saying that I don't think Utd is the best team in the PL, regardless of their current position.

What team has been better?

What team has been better?
City, but because of their poor start that doesn't show in the league table (yet). If they win their game in hand they'd be one point behind you - are you really gonna argue that they can't be better than you because you're 1 point ahead of them halfway through the season?

Citys performances have been boring and rigid thus far. Im at a loss ay how they have been better than us.
Less goals than Leeds, 4 more than Brighton.
Its why its only the last week when fans have been saying the real City is back.
I dont think you honestly believe that though.
They havent even won their game in hand ffs

But didn’t you say you don’t really watch us? I think it’s hard to determine which team has performed the best if you’re watching the darts.
Regardless, saying the league table is an incredibly flawed way to determine a teams quality is very funny.

Except that I didn't say that. I said that your way of looking at the league table, i.e. the team on top is the best team in the leaugue, is extremely flawed. By your reasoning, up until Tuesday Liverpool had been the best team in the league. Don't think you'd agree with that either.

So if we’re not currently the best in the league how are we top?

The league table in January doesn’t tell the whole story. It tells that we have had a good season in the league so far and deserve to be top today, but the top looked different a few weeks ago and it might look different again in a few weeks. Obviously whoever is top after 38 games deserves to win the league. Even then it could be that the table might have looked different after 40 games, but the season consists of 38 days. These rules are set and every club knows it, so 38 games and full stop.
No doubt bitter oppos would still claim we aren’t good enough even if we win the league.
But being top in January is obviously great, but there is still all to play for.
I remember in 2007/08 for a few months it seemed that the title race might be between United and Arsenal, but in the end it was again between United and Chelsea.
We will find out in the next months if we are that season‘s United or Arsenal!

I think they would whinge over the amount of pens we got this season and it helped win the league (not that it will happen this season IMO).

Robin thinks we're not very good but has said he doesn't watch our games. I doubt he watches many City ones either (they've been better of late, but they're not yet at full speed and they haven't really been amazing in the league yet). I think it's reasonable to assume City might win it due to the depth they have, the experience of winning titles, and the positive dynamic they seem to be in, but they haven't been more impressive than us so far this season.

Why don't you scan through my posts first before trying to ridicule me?

Not looking forward to it to be honest. Feels more like a "let's just get this over with" thing before the NFL starts Sunday night :nervous:

Even ar draw would be bad, but I just really really don't wanna lose (bad for our league position and our streak snapped). I don't think Utd are anything special but we've just been so poor the last month or so - our players really need to have a good look in the mirror this week and properly prepare themselves for the magnitude and importance of this game, both mentally and physically. We've also had a few more rest days than Utd but I'm not even sure that's a good thing for our team anymore.

The fact that there won't be any fans in attendance also takes some of the glamour away for me. First Liverpool-Utd game since corona came around, I think.
And no idea what their playing style is. The only game I saw this season was the semi against City were they were good to watch in the first half but atrocious in the second half. Their results suggest that they're on a great run without necessarily playing great football / overclassing opponents, but rather grinding out wins. Not sure that it's actually true though.
I never said United aren't very good. I said I don't think you're anything special, and I don't. Then I gave my opinion on what I thought was true for United, with the explicit disclaimer that I didn't know if it was actually true. Can't really make it more clear than that. And quite a few actually agreed with what I said, too.

You're all over the place, in fairness. I don't think even you can quite keep track of all the nonsense you've been spouting the past few pages, as hard as you try to rationalize it. I'm not trying to ridicule you, just pointing out some glaring holes in some of the stuff you've been posting.

God Fergie was the master of the mind games. Cannot believe he had Rafa cracking like that. And they kept dropping points after it. That was a brilliant title race.

So we're not the best team in the league, neither is Liverpool but City will be in the future if they win their game in hand, cause their poor start doesn't show how good they were, did I get this right?

Oh and 3 pages about how we're not anything special. I mean who said we were?

All that from watching one (1) United game this season.
If Liverpool overtake us I bet we'll read how wonderful their team is.

Completely agree. PSG and Leipzig too were bricking it and acknowledging the best team leading by three points and only needing a measly draw.

We, Liverpool fans, bow to your bestness. :D

Is this a yet another WUM or a simple warning to beware false dawns? I will argue the latter but @Josh 76 will be along to argue the former.

PSG and Leipzig aren’t in contention for being the best team in the Premier league, just like Atletico Madrid aren’t. Not even a year of being champions and you’re already having to look to other competitions to get a rubbish dig in. We don’t know if we’ll win the league, but despite having little to no pre season, and no fans in the ground, we’ve out performed the self proclaimed unbearables as of this moment.

Imagine comparing a CL group and the league. Indeed a very rubbish dig that was.

If you want to see what a blow out looks like just witness the world champions. Looks like they can't kick a ball to each other let alone beat Fulham or Newcastle.

There's only so far Fernandes can be pushed every game (we found Mane and Salah's limit) and wet biscuit man Matip* can stay fit.

*Bailly

Well, so far Bruno has been pushed far enough to get us top of the league, hopefully we can keep pushing and stay there by the end. :) As of now though, like I said, we've managed to get more points than everyone else despite having to play in Europe during the summer and not having the advantage of fans attending some of our matches.

He also chooses to watch the darts instead of watching Liverpool. Take him with a pinch of salt.

Klopp will not be found out, it is obvious how he plays. More like teams will improve to play against their brand of football. Will they have the motivation and the personnel to keep going? Will he achieve the same dominance with a different system? Those are open questions. Seeing their troubles this season, it appears that Liverpool of last two seasons was a very finely balanced machine and with a few parts missing there isn't the same balance.

Darts, NBA, NFL, other stuff, you name it.

Guess you've probably never missed a United game though - top red!

This I agree with. Without key players (TAA, Salah, Mane) performing at their best in his system Klopp doesn't seem to have a plan B and that's disappointing. Thiago and Jota were meant to work toward a plan B but they got fecking injured too.

Hopefully we can get back to plan A asap.

I'd rather not. I much prefer you lot when you are losing, naturally. :)

edit : Also, I think your issues are more tied to a shaky defense. Your defense was great last season and the one before. You will likely score not a lot less than last year but will concede more. And it will reflect on your position in the table.

The scouse 'everyone is out to help United' paranoia. Look what it did to Benitez. Poor Klopp was bound to succumb to it eventually.

Ole has shown class not to get involved. We should concentrate on what we can control and if they want to waste time looking at our penalty record so be it. It'll do them no good.

There's one thing missing a game because you have other stuff on, with family or friends or work. It's totally different missing a game because you'd rather watch the darts, or American sports.
You would decline an invite to the Le Mans 24h if it meant you missed a United game?

Were you at the Lakeside in person watching the arrows? If so then I think it's understandable. I think people think you just turned the TV over rather then getting tickets to go in person.

I don't have live TV coverage of Premier League games.

Misunderstood your last sentence then, no worries.

Watch whatever you want anyway. Don't let people get you worked up on the matter. You know the Caf though and you'll never live it down. Especially being a horrible Scouse. It is what it is. You'll probably get a tagline and everyone will move on. Don't let this define you.
