Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

Over half our team tonight is United academy. Here we have a perfect comparison :)

Not having Pogba

For one, Greenwood should be in the best 11.

We’re also bringing players through, which is the whole point. You’re not. Agreed?
Who does Greenwood replace in the team I posted? Pogba?

On Pogba, has he really been successful for United? Seems like he’s caused you more problems than he’s solved.

You’re bringing more through but we’ve got more out of Alexander-Arnold than you have from any of yours. Most of yours end up not meeting the required standard.

Pogba is still a United academy graduate. He didnt appear out of thin air or be created in a lab.
The spine of our squad are from the academy. Theres just no denying our record on that. We could put out a front 5 tomorrow who all played in our academy. Hell play Tuanzebe and Dean, who many think should start, and we could play 7 academy graduates and still be asked to finish top 4.
You wouldn’t finish top four if you did that. You’d have to leave out several players you need starting.

You're talking utter rubbish here sorry.

Trying to put United (who still hold a long standing record of having academy graduates in every match day squad) and Liverpool on par in this area is totally disingenuous.

The discussion was about what club gives the most opportunities and that's without a doubt United. You're not saying "will TAA is the best so we bring in fewer but get more from them" and that's shitty too. He's the first one you've brought through that's been successful since Gerrard.

I'd even argue he's no more successful than Rashford so not sure that even holds weight. Henderson, Rashford and Greenwood are three current and future England internationals. Mctominnay is a regular for Scotland and features frequently for United.

Even without arguing about Williams, Tuanzebe, Pogba, Lingard you can see United are head and shoulders above. The club also has a better record of buying younger players and looking to develop them. Shaw, AWB, DDG, Martial all good examples. Can also mention Rooney and Ronaldo if you like.

We were more or less expected to pre Bruno?
Nobody is saying our graduates are good enough to get top 4 or become champions on their own.

World Cup winner vs player who had been good for 2 years. TAA could just as easily go down the Deli Ali route as opposed to maintaining that form.

I’d take Rashford above anything Liverpool have produced since Owen.

I’m not arguing you don’t bring more through than we do. I’m arguing that a lot of them aren’t up to the required standard for United and where you’re trying to get to. Rashford is the most successful one (that you haven’t had to re sign for a huge amount of money).

TAA has won the league and Champions League whilst being a key figure in both. He’s considered one of the best in the world in his position. He’s achieved more than Rashford (who is a year older) currently has. This forum has frequently complained that Rashford isn’t good enough over the years.

Greenwood and McTominay are good players but it remains to be seen if they’ll bepart of a genuinely successful United team.

For all the youth you bring through, how much did you spend on your best XI? DDG, Ronaldo, Rooney etc. They’re not academy products, regardless of how old they were when you signed them.

If we hadn’t spent on Alisson and VVD, wouldn’t have reached the heights we did under Klopp. If United hadn’t spent big on Maguire, Fernandes, AWB etc, you wouldn’t be in the title conversation right now under Ole.

Pogba has been frequently discussed on here as a problem many of you want gone.

Rashford over Gerrard?! Rashford over Alexander-Arnold is a stretch considering what they’ve both achieved so far.

you are making a mistake if you are using this forum as a barometer. It’s probably been mess than a year since people have been saying Rashford should go out on loan, and calling him Rashford. A big % of posters on here dislike United players more than Liverpool fans.

Liverpool have one decent youth prospect playing regularly for the team?

I assumed Gerard was before Owen? I’m not arsed enough to look it up.

Rashford over TAA every day of the week. Clearly they play in different positions - but he excels in that team, which allow for his defensive frailties to be mitigated. There’s a reason he’s not a starter for England.

I specifically said Shaw etc weren't academy products but it's further proof we'll look at buying and developing young players. We are still doing so now with Pellistri and Diallo.

You are deflecting I feel. TAA is your only success story since Gerrard. That's a really poor record and it's something as a club you need to get better at.

PS youth development and giving opportunities isn't all about having the best players you know..

Deflecting from what?

Tell you what, list United’s youth players whove come through post Ferguson via your academy and I'll tell you what I think of them.

I actually like Rashford a lot, both on the pitch and off of it.

Why would I care what you think of them? You're not qualified to discuss the topic given what your club produces.

It's not an argument. I'm giving you a taste of your own medicine.

Not sure why you're talking so much shit lately. You'll ruin your decent rep as a Liverpool poster if you carry on.
So you don’t like my opinion in a civilised discussion and resort to that?

I’m not trying to WUM here. I just don’t think a lot of United’s academy products have been hugely successful post Ferguson. I also think TAA has been a more successful product than anything United have produced recently. There’s an argument for Pogba at Juventus and internationally I guess.

Agree to disagree. I still think you’re alright.

It's in part because you haven't done your research. You brand Mctominay as a fringe player and not good enough. He's played 22 games this season and scored 4 goals. He featured in 5/6 CL games. He's captaining the club tonight.

If you're going to have a dig or try and paint an argument you have to get some basics correct.

You're alright too but you're very wrong with this.

I personally think you’ll replace McTominay in a couple of years. Happy to admit if I’m wrong later on but again, he isn’t at TAA’s level yet. Maybe you’ll win the league and I’ll be proved wrong.

 the guy is pathetic. I stand by Liverpool buying the league, even if they didn't spend as much as other clubs to do it. Let's see him start bringing a scouse spine through, or more academy products. I doubt it'll ever happen. They don't have the balls to take any kind of risk. Admittedly they're running on what little momentum they have left at the moment.

It was the way he said he'd "never" buy the league. And then swiftly booted in world record fees for a defender and keeper not long after. (before Chelsea ludicrously went higher for Kepa).

And he's hardly done it on a shoestring even outside of those. Most of the rest are 30-40m signings apart form the full backs.

To be fair Klopp later said he was talking BS when he made that spending comment.

Ole said we have a few injuries. Is this going to unsettle Jurgen? Will he be cry walking in his next press conference because we have hindered his preparations?

Exactly. We all laughed but his words are having the desired effect. Every ref has that element of doubt with United now.

Blatant red card and clear goal denied tonight.

What are your thoughts on Sunday @RobinLFC @B20 @Cheech Wizard @Dumbstar ?

Obviously a loss in our current form would be a huge blow to any hopes we have of retaining it. Even if United fall away, City will smell blood.

Feels like we need to win just to drag ourselves out of this bad run we’re in. Matip is 50/50 on making it which would help. A midfield three of Wijnaldum, Henderson and Thiago sounds right. The rest pick themselves.

Given it’s at Anfield I’m feeling optimistic that we’ll win. United are beatable and have struggled against the traditional big six sides, and we’ve been incredibly strong at Anfield for so long. We can’t afford to start slowly like we did against Southampton.

Referees have always been making mistakes and huge ones, whatever Klopp said shows nothing tbh. We've had some absolute ridiculious decision this decision before we were even considered a threat for the title. Klopp is a prick but it's not like we were a denied a clear pen.

We have had feck all from referees all season. The Palace “penalty”, the fact that de Gea saved a penalty that had to be retaken for (?) some reason, the fact that they literally changed the penalty rule after we had been stitched up with It.

We have had shit luck with referees for a few years now. Nothing to do with Klopp.

Not looking forward to it to be honest. Feels more like a "let's just get this over with" thing before the NFL starts Sunday night :nervous:

Even ar draw would be bad, but I just really really don't wanna lose (bad for our league position and our streak snapped). I don't think Utd are anything special but we've just been so poor the last month or so - our players really need to have a good look in the mirror this week and properly prepare themselves for the magnitude and importance of this game, both mentally and physically. We've also had a few more rest days than Utd but I'm not even sure that's a good thing for our team anymore.

The fact that there won't be any fans in attendance also takes some of the glamour away for me. First Liverpool-Utd game since corona came around, I think.

Fans or no fans, there’s never been anything glamorous about Anfield.

Okay then  The appeal, whatever you wanna call it. And I was talking about the game in general, not anything related to Anfield. Would be the same comment re: Utd-Liverpool.

Yeah it’s not down to the goofy paranoid one- he’s now fully on the Rafa train to insanity.

The refs have held back decisions for us for decades

What? I just don’t think it’s anything special.
Not taking into account circumstances or league positions, it's the most interesting club football game in Europe besides Real-Barca.
