Julian Enciso | United Looking to Intercept Enciso from Ipswich move

I liked the look of Encisco in his first season, but this is a sad indictment of how far we have fallen, we are fighting relegation teams to loan a player that can't get into the Brighton team.

The club really needs something like a Gyorkeres signing to give us something to get excited about, because at the moment it's one negative after another with very little hope in sight.

Signing a Lecce player, swooping in for Ipswich targets, and selling our prospects to Chelsea.

I like to be optimistic but it’s hard not to feel like the “this is fine” meme. My feeling is that we won’t sign anyone this window.

For a couple of years, the talk about stars needs to stop, and the idea of recruiting this type of player needs to become regular. Or the ManUtd tax will never stop.

There’s a bit of snobbery in your post. United is not all about just buying from Madrid etc. we bought Irwin from Oldham, Bruce from Norwich, Keane from a relegated Forest etc

You're right. We can probably assemble a very good starting 11 by finding the best/better players in weaker sides. It's just hard to have trust in our recruitment and Dorgu specifically looks underwhelming to me. Hope I am wrong!

It's what most have been crying out for on here, and now it's happening, the violins are out.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Not even slightly good enough for what he'll cost in wages most likely. Our resources are limited and we have to make smarter buys.

Hope this is true, I like him. Much more technically gifted than Garnacho, more suited to the AM role with Amad. Big talent. But what happened to him? He was so good before some injuries here and there.

What happened with him at Brighton? Last I remembered he was looking a good talent and getting plenty of games. Hadn't realised he had fallen out of favour. I would still take him in a heartbeat if he's cheap, as grim as it might seem to be after a player who can't get a game at Brighton.

How many times have we done this and ended up with a problem player on big money because we get it wrong? Pogba, Di Maria, Sanchez, Casemiro, Antony, etc.

I'm not saying I want Enciso but a different approach is clearly needed, and we're clearly not in a position to chuck a load of money on one player right now anyway.

Smarter buys. Can someone tell me where these smarter buys are hiding out that won’t cost more than expected in the winter window?

It’s not that long ago this forum was full of people saying they’d rather buy Dorgu than Mendes and where have all those posters gone? Posters flip flop depending on the wind

This. A thousand times this.

If this is a loan for rest of the season, it makes absolute sense. Last season he looked some player and impressed for a young lad in a new league. Maybe playing leads for Brighton as new man like to keep them wide and this lad comes inside more.

Injury is what happened

He's pretty much averaged the most shots per minute out of anyone in the league over the last 2 seasons which matches up with what I saw in the eye test. He plays like a moron shooting from 40 yards every time he has the ball in a bit of space.

It appears that his contract ends next summer, if we are interested then it will be a permanent deal considering his age etc?

This.
The whole Dorgu saga and people turning their noses up reminds me of the attitude towards Evra when he arrived in January.
Not saying he'll be Evra good but we often bought relative unknowns.

Partially injury. But also partly just their system and numbers.

Hurzeler usually seems to prefer more winger-ish wide players. And they have a lot of players who can play at #10, most obviously Pedro and Rutter (who they dropped £40m on).

I mean, Evra had played in a Champions League final…

Cracking so we'd finally get some shots off.

Get rid of Garnacho to replace him with another Garnacho.

Smart signing if true I think. Guy looked very promising for a while there. If Rashford & Garmacho leave were in dire need of depth and he could be a great option at #10, for what I'm assuming is very little outlay.

With where we're at right now we need to piece together whatever we can afford to get us through the season, hoping for a miracle cup run at best, and actually fecking rebuild with some common sense in the summer.

It's a smart signing if people look past who the competition for the loan is.

Might be worth changing the title of the thread slightly, as the source itself explains the move isn't going to happen.

An attempt was even made even though the move to Ipswich was agreed, but there was no time and he’ll be heading to join up with McKenna’s side.

So it should say we looked to intercept the move, rather than looking.

Will be interesting to see how he does at Ipswich if we think we've shown some interest. He's out of contract in 2026, so if he shows enough for us to want him permanently he might be available in the summer at a reduced price.
