Julen Lopetegui | Sacked by West Ham

They’re getting Potter, which keeps Moyes available for the Everton job.
I hope not, this still leaves a bad taste in my mouth

Does make you wonder who is making these daft decisions. Everyone on an internet message board was predicting this when he was signed.

Just a question, as alot of backroom staff leave with the manager.

Do coaches get paid huge sums?
Are coaches paid directly from club separately?
Is the coaches wage the manager brings in from part of their salary package they agree on? So manager X on £3 mill a year, but out of that comes the coaches wage aswell?

As a manager could cost way more than the media reports if you add in all the staff he brings too.

I'm sure they're all just separate though.

glad he’s finally sacked. he basically went through his wife moving her boyfriend in and having to watch them fecking for 3 days before she actually filed for divorce.

There were a lot of West Ham fans getting giddy in the summer about challenging for top 4 after the window they had and hiring Lopetegui. Taking digs at Utd for getting rid of AWB and signing Todibo because we couldn’t. Yeah, how’s that working out?

That is because he is an awful coach, all his teams played like crap. With time, the players can't stand him, so annoying and entitled.

He needed 3 years and hundreds of millions to mould his squad. Why are these owners so trigger happy at the first sign of trouble! [/garyneville]

My point is why don’t the senior people making these decisions not know this when the average Joe on an Internet message board does?

Yeah, so odd. I remember last May when it was reported Lopetegui would take over and it never made any sense. Uninspiring stint at Wolves followed by poor stint at West Ham. They wanted better brand of football and went for Lopetegui. It’s not like Potter wasn’t available back then.

Potter returning as manager is exciting. Not West Ham fan and don’t care for them but they could be interesting for a change.

I'll never forget the time he got sacked from the Spanish NT the day before the start of the WC because he didn't tell his bosses he was heading to Real... only to get sacked from Real a few months later.
Yeah he just has 'loser' written all over him (although, frustratingly, he seems to have had United's number over the past few years.)

No idea why they gave him the job anyway. Wasn’t he awful at wolves.

Yes he was and then basically quit during pre season because he thought it was an impossible job without money to spend which their subsequent survival proved otherwise. He can win with a good squad because they will get results in spite of his awful tactics but he cannot elevate players.

This is the second time I've seen this in the last couple of days on here and it's bizarre. I don't like his football and think he acted appallingly at the end at Wolves but let's not rewrite history. He took over with them being an absolute mess, bottom of the league with only two wins in 16 games; they finished 13th and are the only team in the last 10 years to be bottom at Christmas and survive IIRC. So no, he quite evidently did not do an awful job at Wolves.

Every Manager is considered a fraud on RedCafe.

I said his football was awful, not that he did an awful job. He did get them up the table after a shocking start that season but they were underperforming badly before his arrival considering the players they had at their disposal and he did a decent job of tightening them up so that they were able to get a few results. The style of play was not a million miles away from that of Sean Dyche and their away from was dire, they got pumped 6-0 by Brighton, 5-0 by Arsenal and even lost 2-0 at Old Trafford in their last 3 away games of the season. I think it is fair to say that most Wolves fans were not exactly distraught at his leaving.

Until they turn up in a polo speaking about some sophisticated tactical idea that is already well known, but they find a way to make it sound like they have just built the hadron collider.

He still an awful manager so it doesn’t really matter.

Like others said, agents have a huge say on this, currently.

Then, he's a very good talker, brings tablets, machines, video analysys, papers, powerpoints, he looks like a good deal.

His trainings look good also, on paper, well planed.

When he has to manage, is when all things go south. Awful communication with the players, bad in game decisions, always finds a way to have excessive tension and conflicts inside the organization.

In all clubs he's been, they were happy when he came, and happy when he was gone.
