He's signed for Bayern Leverkusen! 5 year contract. He snubs Arsenal!

Thought it was about time this lad gets a thread! We Bundesliga fans have been impressed with him this season. Scoring plenty of goals for a club in a relegation dogfight.

Great prospect. Got a loaded skillset and still only 21 (22 in August). Looks a bit like a younger Lewandowski, altough he still has a way to go to reach the pole's technical ability and vision. Still, any aspiring club has to take notice. Could be a star in a couple of years.

Agreed, he's got that special quality. Doesn't go missing in big games either, his attitude is what's impressed me most. He's pretty much dragging Nurnberg out of the relegation fight. Takes a mean penalty too!

I think it would be smart to bring in a player who knows what a relegation fight is like. We'll need that experience next year with Moyes in charge.

Drmic reminds me a lot of Roy Makaay actually. He's the only CF talent in the Bundesliga with the potential to reach the top level.

Borussia Dortmund would do better purchasing him than Ramos, but I guess they finalized the deal at a time when Drmic was still too new and unproven.

I hope Matthäus is spreading bullshit, because the Bundesliga needs players like Drmic.

Bundesliga needs actual competition instead of Bayern being the only team, followed by Dortmund who have had a bad season.

I remember when we played Lyon in the CL in 2008/9 and they had won Ligue 1 6 times in a row, now they are nowhere, there's PSG and Monaco pushing, Marseille it's nice to have competition, yet Bundesliga is a bit of a joke at times.

Possibly the greatest Simpsons / Football joke mash-up of all time and nobody even cares.

Typical.

A worthy competitor for giroud... But its not like arsenal have signed a falco or cavani who would transform that front line into something special
great business at that price if true but not what they need to improve straight away

The Bundesliga was a joke 5-10 years ago, when Bayern would at most reach the CL QF's while winning the double in 05&06. Meanwhile the rest of the crop like Werder Bremen & Co. were embarrassing themselves in the CL group stage against teams like Panathinaikos. That's what I'd call a joke of a league.

Regarding a lack of competitiveness, the title-race has certainly been one-sided the last two seasons, but Bayern München performed remarkably well. I'd say there's no league they wouldn't have walked the last two seasons. Maybe not with 20+ points advantage, but still by decisive margins. Anyway, only two years ago everybody was talking about the end of Bayern's reign, when BVB trashed them 5-2 in the dfb cup final after having already won back-to-back championships. That was only 22 months ago! Now Bayern München won the league two times in a row. Those things come and go like the tide.

Admittedly, the Bundesliga has to become even more competitive, that much is true, but it doesn't make the league a joke. The teams are still developing and growing, but it's looking very promising. There are great managers like Weinzierl and Tuchel who are sadly coaching financially weak clubs like Mainz05 and Augsburg, but that will change eventually.

The Bundesliga is on the up and we can expect great things as soon as somebody like Tuchel takes over Schalke04. Not to forget the financial firepower of Volkswagen is finally being put to good use by Klaus Allofs. Meanwhile Red Bull Leipzig is continuing their impressive rise through the divisions. They'll probably play in the Bundesliga as soon as 2015/16 and we can expect some serious (sheikh level) investments on their behalf.

I think he'll go to Dortmund considering they need a striker next season.

According to media reports they already bagged Ramos.

I'll be honest here. 8m for him is a steal, he's not the finished article yet but he has all the qualities to be a very, very good player. Think the Arsenal fans are going to be impressed when they see him at the World Cup.

Agreed... But im not sure he will score 20 next year in the pl and that is what arsenal
need

I think he could. He's got 16 in a team scrapping for the relegation, 13 if you take away his penalties. He'll get more chances at Arsenal, the real question mark is whether he can transform his form at Nurnberg over to Arsenal. It's a big ask for the lad considering he'd be moving Leagues.

Never seen this guy play but with the club in question being Arsenal, everything about this transfer screams Giroud MK II to me.

Doubt he will start half the games though with giroud there... Good back up if they sell or if they keep giroud but ive not seen enough to suggest he can move them from 4th place contenders to anything more
certainly wouldnt swap him for ant of our front 4 atm

Reminds me of how people were talking about the Iago Aspas transfer. Admittedly not seen any of this lad, so I have no idea if there are any similarities.

Having watched him play live about a dozen times now, he's impressed me in each game. Scored a brace against Croatia in his first start for Switzerland too. I think his performances have been even more impressive when you take into account that Nurnberg are in a relegation scrap. If you look at his goals and when they're scored, they're all crucial goals, the lads got balls, he's in some ways not what you'd consider a typical Arsenal signing as this lad when the going gets tough rises and delivers. He's suited for the Premierleague too, a proper fighter with pace and very good technique. He's got better as the seasons progressed too.

That sounds exactly like Aspas.

Is he purely a striker or can he play in other positions too?

Worth noting Barney though, that he is still only 21, Aspas was 26 when we signed him and had never scored 15 goals in a top league, this guy has.

Yeah, this lad could turn out to be a star I have no idea. I'm just making stupid comparisons. :D

Just a gut feeling with it being Arsenal. Don't think I'm the only one that thinks it either.
I suspect you are in the corner with the D hat on since previous forward signings include T. Henry and R. van Persie.

Can play Right Wing/Left Wing//Fwd.

CF: 9 goals, 14 games
Right: 5 goals, 8 games
Left: 2 goals, 4 games
SS: 0 goals, 1 game

Don't see the Aspas connection at all Barney. This is Drmics first season at Nurnberg and in the Bundesliga. He's 21 and scored this amount of goals and for his form is now capped for Switzerland scoring 2 goals on his first start. Aspas was at Celta de Vigo for several seasons, at Drmics age he was playing for Celta de Vigo in Segunda Division in Spain and didn't score many at all. So not really getting the same vibe at all if I'm honest. Aspas only really started scoring goals the season Celta went up and managed 12 goals in his first and only season in La Liga. Situations are very different!

 Signed what, more than 10 years ago? Your strikers have been largely shit since then. Only Adebayor has been any good and he fecked off after a while.

So the last strikers we signed for serious money were Henry £11m, van Persie £3.75m, Adebayor £5.7m and Giroud £11m. Take the D hat son, you've earned it.

"Hi Everybody!

"Hi Drmic"

Post of the year

As for Drmic, he mostly played as a winger while at Zurich and plays as a winger for Nurnberg at times as well... Can play anywhere across the front four in a 4-2-3-1, really
