Ngl, cant really hate on this signing. Decent backup striker much needed given our lack of squad depth, and if Martial gets injured we're screwed. So for 20m no complaints.
Do you see Josh King making any difference whatsoever? We shouldn’t waste money and wages on squad players, lets go for players that can actually challenge for the starting XI.
He has but he's still not a natural leading-the-line type of striker we need.

We arent doing that anyway. The plan for the club is very obviously (and I dont disagree with them tbh) to have Rashford, Martial and long term have Greenwood as the front 3. It's well balanced, loads of goals in it, and they suit each other. We lack depth for it, which is why we're going for depth players.

The way we do transfer business these days, I am not too sure we will go for another striker, may be we are saving up for Sancho, who knows, even then going for King is just bad in a way it won't really challenge Martial. We needed a player who we could slot right in instead of Martial and who challenges Martial for the spot week in week out.
Let's welcome him back with open arms. He's a useful player and he's also versatile. I'd personally welcome back anyone from our academy as I have a soft spot for them all. Luis Muriel would probably be a better signing as he's cheaper and a more talented player and would be on cheaper wages but oh well.

I was asking whether you have problem with players linked or the clubs at which players are playing as you mentioned both club and player names.
King already has a similar goal scoring record to Martial in the same league. How is that not slotting in right away to challenge? But you think a young South American with barely any experiences slots in straight away?
I don't really like Martial, he is a sweet finisher and can do amazing things on his day buy he is not the kind of guy who will win you titles. Rashford is, Greenwood looks like he will be. We needed a solid player who can challenge or even replace Martial for the position.

Do people understand depth. We struggle in certain games because we don't have striking options to bring off the bench or rotate with rashford. Our biggest problem this season has been our lack of depth. This is depth. Stop acting like he's here to start the majority of our games. He's here to improve our squad quality. In the summer, if we sell 250k a week Martial, w can buy a first team player.
I don't think we have time to complete the transfer for Adolfo as well, being that he is pretty far away if he is still in Argentina.
That's one thing we definitely agree on. Martial isn't anywhere near good enough to lead the line for a club with ambitions.

This forum is unbelievable at times. King has been consistently good for Norway and Bournemouth for some time now, and has shown he can do well in the EPL, and yet some people insist we’d be better off getting someone just finding their feet in the Argentine league at 20. How young are these posters? Have they not seen enough talent struggle yet?
Once Rashford is back, Martial will have some competition with Greenwood, if James plays on the right.
Yes Greenwood may not yet be ready for full 90 mins of football week in week out, but he can scored goals, and his is young and emerging talent.
Also, in summer we may go for Sancho (lets hope so), then there will be more competitions.

Already injured player joining, yea what can go wrong with our history. This stinks of someone doin favors on someone else expense.
Any striker would slot in right now, what I meant was and I should have been clearer that, when we have full strength and Rashford is back, somebody who can prove to be better than Martial in the long run and who makes Martial work his socks off for the starting role.
We dont necessarily need that though. Rashford is the main goalscorer for us, similar to Salah for Liverpool. Between the two of them, there is enough goals. We need more from everyone else. I'm not worried about Greenwood completing that 3 either, he gets loads and itll be a fine trio. What we need is depth. Right now Rashford had to play every game, as did Martial. Both are weaker without the other, and our depth for them is an 18 year old (as good as he is), and James who just came from the championship and is a pure winger anyway. We need a player that will enable us to play a similar style whenever we rest one of the main 2, or rotate them. Makes sense for King.
Not sure if he's good enough anyway, but it makes sense. My choice wouldve been Mertens as he could start on the right, or central, while being capable of playing the same role as Martial, but also the age where Greenwoods development won't be blocked.
If we get a Haaland type in, then Rashford changes roles from what he was all year (as a wide forward) to more what he was under Mourinho as a winger, and making him nowhere near as good as he can be. While also dropping Martial to bench, leading to inevitably him leaving and again still needing a squad player, going full circle to targetting someone like King again. Fix the depth up front, less pressure to overuse players, fix midfield to give them chances and it might all look a lot better. It should at least.

He suits the others though, and there's more than enough for power in there to get us competing. If we get the perfect option in attack then of course we go for it, but depth is desperately needed and so it makes sense to go for someone that is the right style of player to be that depth.
