Preston Handed Injury Boost
Posted on: Mon 13 Sep 2010
Darren Ferguson is yet to find out the extent of the injuries sustained on the weekend at Turf Moor but could welcome back Matty James as early as Saturday for the visit of Norwich City.
James has had scans on his injured ankle and the early signs suggest that the injury is less serious than first expected. The Preston manager hopes to learn more this afternoon and believes that there is a chance that the midfielder will be ready for Saturday. Speaking to the press ahead of the visit of Nottingham Forest, Ferguson said:
"Matty James has had two scans and it was very positive news with both of them. No break, no ligament damage, he has got another MRI scan today. If he was to get the all clear from that, amazingly enough he will probably be fit for Saturday."
The outcome of Joshua King's injury is less clear with the youngster still not having a scan on his injured leg.
"Joshua King was in a lot of pain so he has been unable to have a scan yet," Ferguson said.
"The first sort of analysis of it was two to three weeks but now we think that it maybe longer, we won't know until we have a scan."
Ferguson went onto say: "He has had a similar injury before and it was about two or three weeks it took him. Again, he is a fit lad, he has got youth on his side and generally they heal quicker, we will know more after this scan."
Good news about Matty James.
Jury still out for Joshua though.
