Joshua Kimmich — has extended his contract until 2029

Kimmich is on something like 320k pw (€20m p.a.) and will definitely want to have a 4 year contract at a CL club.

Not trying to be mean here, but... I don't think United have to worry about signing him.

It'll be City if it's any PL team. Real don't need him. Barca can't afford him. PSG possibly also. That's about it. Super niche market. If we could get Casemiro off the books I'd take Kimmich on a free for 3 years with a one year option for around the same wages as he's on now. I assume Bayern are offering him lower wages to stay on as they are sensible and he's most likely already peaked. He'd be good for us but isn't going to come here and I can't see INEOS stumping up those kinds of wages anymore. Casemiro on a free would have been a great signing but the fee too on top of everything. Just madness

Not trying to be mean here, but we wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.

The only free agents we should be giving a serious look at are Angel Gomes and Jonathan David. Kimmich is not the profile of player we should be pursuing.
I agree. I was about to put exactly the same until I seen this.

Yeah, I certainly don't see United even being in the race here unless they offer him an insane amount of money, which they won't, and no more preferrable club wants him. Even then I'd see him just opting to stay at Bayern.

The question is which other clubs would want to pick him up and what they'd be willing to pay. I don't think there's that many clubs who will be willing to pay him €20m/pa or more.

Doesn’t have the legs to play in our system.. we need athletes in this team right now.

Kimmich is one of the fittest players I have ever seen. His stamina is incredible and the distance he covers in games is huge.

Be wise to either stay put or go to PSG. Trying to step up to the Premier League at his age would end in tears.

The athleticism required to succeed in the PL currently exceeds that of the bundesliga. Terrible fit for Kimmich at this stage of his career.

At 30 years old this summer, he should be fine in terms of athleticism. However if he signed as a free agent, he’ll want a 4 year contract and he might have a problem in the next couple of years. We’ll be left with another Casemiro situation (high wages, not a good fit in the starting lineup)

I can tell that you have seen him play many times.
Okay legs was the wrong word to use, but he certainly isn’t an athlete. He has a great engine.. but completely lacks physical presence and he’s just turned 30. We’ve seen with Case how quickly players deteriorate and Kimmich would struggle massively in the premier league if he loses his legs.

He isn’t going to stop players running right though the middle of us.. to do that we need pace and power. Kimmich doesn’t have that unfortunately.

He covers distance and pings the ball around like no tomorrow.. in a midfield 3 I’m sure he’d be great for us. But he lacks physicality and that’s what I think we need most right now to make this system work.

Don't think it's just about fitness. The intensity and speed of the Premier League is on another level than Bundesliga, that took a lot physically on a player, and I would be wary to sign a 30 year old from there.

You don’t have to worry about signing him. If he leaves Bayern he won’t go to United.

I’d take him on a two year deal and it’s on a free too, big if admittedly but on sensible wages I don’t see a downside, let’s be honest here though, he’s never coining to us with the state we’re in right now

People need to hear the truth. Did you also count the repetitive „he is not the player United needs“ as if United were an option?
If we paid he'd come. Money over ambition for 99% of players.

Kimmich comes across as a very (if not overly) ambitious guy. There are a couple of other clubs that match his ambition and would pay a lot. I don't think United have a shot at signing him.

You might be right, I'm just going by the examples of Casemiro, Basti and others. We paid, they came, maybe naively expecting we'll turn good.

Interesting withdrawal

Casemiro was past his peak and Madrid managed to get a payday almost twice his estimated value at the time out of United by shuffling him off to England. And with Basti I assume you mean Schweinsteiger? The guy who whose body was completely done at the very end of his career and who cost United the amazing sum of €9m?
Those are your examples of "if we just pay enough, anyone can be had?"

We've been here before.

Player with nothing to prove collecting one last pay day.

Better off going for someone like Quenda.

It's not definite yet, but both Bild and Sky are reporting that him signing his new contract at Bayern is imminent. Plettenberg claimed that a complete verbal agreement has been reached.

So yeah, a bit too early to close the thread, but certainly looks like he's staying where he is.

He'd be a decent signing on a 2 year deal on reasonable wages. But that isn't realistic. Last thing we need is another Casemiro

Signing a new contract soon, apparently. Surely only because we didn't touch this aging reject with a barge pole.

I'm not his biggest fan, but funnily enough the things in his game that I think are a problem for Bayern (his deliberation and slowing down of possession) would have been assets for us, as obviously would have been his unrelenting mentality.
Needless to say he'd have been a step up in class for the whole squad.
