Jose wants to return

I mean it wasn't but whatever we finished 6th and 20+ points off the top of the league in 2 full seasons and he imploded the 3rd season, so the football was drab and the results were also pretty drab
Europa League win. League Cup win. Community Shield win. He is a winner.

Ten Hag has caused more carnage at the club than Mourinho. And the results are shite. And the football is shite. But let's keep him. :nono:

.....and he's sacked because he's not got the luxury of the backing like Pep.
Even with a shite team like Roma he won the Conference League for them and they had not won anything for dog's ears.
No he’s sacked because he’s toxic and treats everyone like shite. That’s the reason he’s never at a club longer than 3 years. He had money to spend here and did he spend it wisely?

Now, this is mental!

Ole built the best squad, by far.

We played the best football under him, by far.

The drop off after him was the biggest one, by far.

He was the best at man-management, by far.

The general atmosphere around the club was the best during his tenure, by far.

I don't see how these points I made can be argued against.

And miss me with the trophies José won. We had piss easy runs and it doesn't matter anyway. The PL and CL are the only two trophies that are actually significant for Manchester United.

Winning the Community Shield against Leicester City doesn't equal Mourinho being an elite manager. Neither does winning the League Cup against Northampton, Man. City, West Ham, Hull, and Southampton...nor does winning the Europa League against Zorya Luhansk, Fenerbahce, Feyenoord, Saint-Etienne, Rostov, Anderlecht, Celta Vigo (where we were inches away from bottling it at Old Trafford) and Ajax.

ten Hag convincingly eliminating La Liga winning Barcelona last season in the EL is genuinely more impressive on its own, than Mourinho's fraudulent cup runs in 2017.

3 trophies and we faced 1 serious team in City out of 14 opponents combined.

To be fair nobody is saying keep ETH here, well they shouldn't be, they're just saying, or at least I am, that Jose would be just as bad football wise these days and he'd bring his toxic atmosphere with him too.

Mourinho would have won the Europa League we lost with Ole

Jose is one of the top 5 coaches in the world.

He was never a “busted flush” at United. Imagine calling a manager finished when they only won a league a few months before joining United. Remarkable stupidity.

I never wanted him as United manager and don’t want him to replace ETH (although interim would be very interesting) but he’s a world class coach.

Would be an absolute disaster. No thanks. Time for the club to look forwards not backwards.

"Ole" was terrible, sorry.

This is even funnier than the actual thread

What playey they overspent on? Probably the entire squad in summary:

Rome spent €173 mill on wages and €56 mill on player amortisation, €229 mill in total. Only Inter and Juve spent more in Serie A. Despite coming 6th. Historically, Roma has also been outspent by Milan and Napoli, but both teams have cut back. So you would think Roma would improve. But they did not.

In fact, Mourinho have the worst point per game of any coach at Roma since 2013. Behind a fee very averages coaches like di Fransesco, Rudi Garcia and Fonseca. Way behind a guy like Spaletti.

And yes, the average age of the squad have shot up. Roma have gone from having one of the youngest squads in Serie A to one of the oldest.

In other words, Jose Mourinho failed even at a significantly lower level than the PL. Not even with a team where he was expected to win. He failed taking a team that was spending like a top three team from being a top six team to a top three team.

This is so massively incorrect that it is funny. Monchi ruined Roma with a ridiculous number of overpiad signings, leaving them with an incredibly bloated squad of worthless players on big wages. Roma spent some money when Jose arrived but they were moving players out even then and since his first window they have made a net profit selling multiple players whilst only sanctioning free agents and loan deals in. I don't want him back here but he did a decent job at Roma with severe financial limitations.

The one thing he does well is put together aggressive, physically dominant sides. Something we haven't seen since. Couldnt match Klopp or Pep for how to get a side to play football but we were never humiliated against either. So many stalemates vs Pool and an even record vs City with every game decided by 1 goal.

But it only works so long as all the players buy into him and thrive under a siege mentality. Over time he seems to have lost that motivational edge and ability to keep players with him.

I fully agree.

That's the problem though, not just the direct players playing for him, but football as a whole. Everyone now knows he's done, he cannot ever build that unbeatable mentality again. No player is going to take him seriously enough these days to back him like that, let alone a whole squad.

Sacked by 2 smaller clubs since leaving us.
Plays an outdated style of football.
Falls out with players and creates a toxic atmosphere.

Let's get him in.

They’re both second rate trophies. Always have been. And that particular season they were second rate trophies where we drew exclusively second rate teams.

Whatever, bigging up the Community Shield as some sort of achievement is just taking the piss.

The teams you draw do not reflect the trophy. Ideally, you'd want an easy run! It doesn't detract from the win if you only draw "easy" teams - the ONLY thing that matters is the silverware at the end.

No one is bigging up the CS, it was stupid by that poster to include it because it gives guys like you easy ammo ;)

This is cult behavior. I really hope your just doing a bit.

So that's your whole counter-argument, because you can't deny anything that I said.

Typical José fan

Of course I can deny it. I just didn't want to piss away time doing it, but for you I'll make an exception:

The factors you are talking about are intangible. The hard facts are that Mourinho had a better PPG average than Solskjaer, as well as actually winning trophies. Despite @Pogue Mahone doesn't approving of said trophies :smirk:

This is cult behavior
He's always been a Jose cultist, your better off just ignoring anything he says. I mean things are crap with ETH right now, but anyone that thinks Jose dinosaur football and toxic behaviour is somehow going to fix everything needs putting in a strait jacket.
