Jose wants to return

Lows like Jose had. And LVG. And the guy who everyone that wanted Ole out for, has had?

What a shit post.
Jose took us to multiple cups and the highest point finish post Fergie. Every manager hits a rut when sacked but Jose wasn't getting spanked 4-0 to sides like Everton or Huddersfield or Watford at various points of his tenure. Ole ball was vasy overrated, what an atrocious comparison to a manager who actually achieved tangible success

Just for entertainment purposes I’d take Jose til the end of the season and bring Keane in as his assistant, I’d fecking love to see those two rip into our current squad with how over indulged and fecking spoilt they are.

This thread is full of horrendous takes. But the most often repeated horrendous take is “best manager since SAF”. Which I’ve read a bunch of times. Is that supposed to be an impressive achievement?!
Why is telling the truth horrendous? You want to say that any other manager did better?

Ole was fecking wank. And this idea that his football was better is wank too. He had terrible lows at multiple times which some posters weirdly want to ignore.

The golden 3 month period he had when the Ole at the wheel chants were rampant just overrode what it was actually like.
Bizarre how much you want to defend ten hags shit how yet speak like this about ole. A time when we actually scored goals.

So who was more impressive in your opinion so we may be illuminated please?

I can accept the argument that he has been our best manager since SAF but if that's the standard we're holding him and one people are comfortable with then that's worrying.

I don't enjoy watching United at the moment but the negativity that surrounded Jose and even the way we played at times sucked the joy out of football for me.

Even forgetting the weak draws, I personally got more joy out of LVGs FA Cup and ETH's league cup run than the ones with Jose.

I won't argue that Ole was a better United manager but I have so many more positive memories of his tenure than with Jose. Perhaps that was because I had higher expectations of Jose but meh, no chance I could go through watching his football week in week out.

Im not defending ten hags football this season. His football has been shit this season. What on earth are you on about?

Jose wants to manage United again.

I bet he does, he is bloody jobless.

Hardly breaking news unless there is more to it, which I doubt there is.

Actually would be fine with this. He is a proper manager for this club which Ten Hag clearly isn't.

Its like he said the first time only big managers can manage big clubs

Does anyone remember our playing style under him? One chance a game? We made football look harder than we do now. Imagine going back to that. It's not better than what we have currently and players are arguably worse now than back then.

The first season we had Pogba, Matic and Herrera in midfield was the last time our midfield looked functional. And we seemed to get something going between Pogba and Zlatan in the latter's first season, where from memory we created and squandered a lot of chances.

In hindsight there were a lot of factors that absolved Jose. He was butting heads with Ed Woodward and certain players who weren't up to scratch. The fans loved it when he got sacked but since then they've dragged these same people through the mud themselves - Woodward, Rashford, Pogba etc. Jose knew we weren't a serious club and we either agreed, or many came to that realisation in time themselves.

He also had the most success during these barren years. He was undoubtedly our best manager since Fergie, and probably the best football mind associated with the club since Fergie. Whilst I couldn't defend results at the time, I just wished more people took note of what he was saying, because it was all true.

If give him a chance again, working under a proper regime. In terms of CV he's by far the best we could appoint. It's just what sort of Jose would turn up. He seemed back to his older self at Roma and just seemed to enjoy himself for the most part. But there would obviously be questions over what type of football he would try to bring and whether he's going to turn up in some sort of depressed state like last time.

I like Jose, but i'd rather enjoy him while he's managing somewhere else. We need to be looking forward if a change of manager is happening.

Exactly this.

My bad then calm down, must have you confused with someone else

Jesus, I can’t believe somebody could have endured his first spell and be making justifications for another one :wenger:. Fecking mentalist.

Unemployed man wouldn’t turn down lucrative job offer.

No thanks.

Im not making justifications for it. I'm saying Ole ball was vastly overrated and when we racked up 81 points under Jose it wasn't with shit football.

The standards at this club are well and truly non existent at this point

You have a very short memory. It was most definitely with shit football. We had a brief period of time before he coached out LvG’ s passing team where we looked like a side who could keep the ball and also attack when necessary, after that it was pure Jose attrition-ball. I’d sooner take LvG back than that “Sevilla are a better club that United” arsewipe, feck no.

I want Moyesie back … Fred the Red. Phelan. Get the old band back together.

Then he turned out not to be a big manager, using his own definition. Because he wasn’t good enough for United. Which has been confirmed since he left and turned out to not even be good enough for Roma.

He failed twice after leaving us and some of you still want this washed up guy who disrespected the club? This ego maniac should be forgotten for good. This fanbase never fails to amaze me.

It's just a more glamorised way of saying "best of a bad bunch". The same kind of terminology is also reeled out to try big up the "Ole era" as if it were actually successful.

He can be PR manager who constantly fights with Pep in the media to make him take a sabatical.

He did alright at Roma - won them a European trophy (the only one in their history?) and got them to a final which he lost on PK. Given Roma's budget and the forced sales to avoid FFP I think it's a respectable record.

I don't like his brand of football, but can't argue with the results. And while he hasn't been good enough for United, he's been the best manager post Fergie results-wise.

Why do people keep saying this?!? I feel like I’ve gone through the looking glass here. WTF? Who cares?! They’ve all been shite. Being the best out of a bunch of shite managers is not a reason to hire him!!

Bring him back, burn it down, burn it to the ground..... :)

Seriously though , I am a big fan of Jose, but no way in Hades he will get the job here again. But as one said above, what a story if he came and succeeded.
