Jose Mourinho | Spurs manager

At every club he's been at since 2002, Mourinho has won trophies. Will he win one at Spurs?

Son is a dick, to be fair. He's the only South Korean player ever I've found to be unlikable.
Why do you say that? Always saw Son as a very good and underrated hardworking player who just got on with his job

Imagine if Harry had a go at Martial like that for being lazy
There's having a go, and there's running to someone once the half time whistle blows, getting in his face, and pushing him. Son looked to have genuinely lost it for a few seconds by the way, and seemed to really want to get into a pile up before he composed himself and walked away

Yeah, no doubting his talent as a player. He's brilliant and works hard for the team.

Aside from the fact that I think he's a sly player on the pitch with his fouling, I've found him to be quite obnoxious outside of football. Since my brother left Manchester for Seoul many years ago, I've really got in touch with their culture myself, and watch a fair bit of Korean stuff, and whenever I've seen him away from football I've just found him unlikable.

That is surprising to me as anytime I've seen him interviewed he seems to come across as a very likeable and well mannered bloke.

Maybe it's just me then!

Said brother that lives in Seoul now likes him, too, and is a City fan who teaches English over there, so when Son scored against City in the CL last year his students proper bantered him about it.

It’s so eerie seeing Spurs play vs Everton. It was similar with our way of playing under Jose. Ole does not get enough credit for implementing modern tactics to the squad. Another funny thing is I saw a lot of Spurs fan fell for his antics and believe truly that their squad is worse than it should be. So similar to his time here.

No way he goes for at least another couple of years at least. Levy ain't going to pay him off with that contract. Like it or not Jose is here to stay.

If Levy finds himself in a game of chicken with Jose, well - that could get very ugly. When Jose has had enough, he will want to get sacked on his terms (getting whatever he's due). That's what happened at Chelsea and United. We had to pay him top dollar as per a "mutual agreement", or however it was phrased.

Of course, perhaps Levy actually is as savvy as some say - and Jose's contract isn't as favourable in certain respects as the case was for his United or Chelsea contracts. But still: you really don't want a Jose in meltdown mode tied down for a couple of years. That could easily amount to cutting your nose off to spite your face in a big way. Jose isn't someone who will just "get on with it" in a scenario where he'd rather quit and seek pastures new. It could - again - turn very ugly.

Watching spurs the other night - it was a far cry from them a year ago - and it’s only going to get worse - and more toxic - be really interested in who José gets in the next transfer window - they will certainly be for the now with no eye on the future or youth because José is all about the now.....when his time is up spurs will he left with a lot of aging players on high wages and very little youth/home grown talent.....
Wonder who he will fall out with next?

Has this supernatural ability of making every opposition look a better team on the ball.

Kane hasn't quite looked like Kane recently. Might be due to coming back from injury but I don't think Jose's tactics do him many favors.

He's had him playing a bit all over the place, even saw him playing in the DM area earlier

Playing him in more defensive positions than the goalscoring positions he's so good at finding himself in, really do wonder what he's been instructing him to do...

Can someone who has watched Spurs over the years more than I have tell me if Kane has always played this deep or has that been a change under Mourinho? Watched quite a few games since the league restarted and he seems to spend more time in his own box than the oppositions.

People said this Spurs team was perfect for him,. He’s made them worse.

He did start to drop deeper towards the end of Poch's reign but nowhere near as deep as he is now

It's actually ridiculous how deep he is these days

Jose seems to have his sights on turning him into the best defensive striker in the league, sorry Bobby

I’d love to see the defensive stats from this game as he seemed to be involved in most clearances in that half.

Very sad to see actually, I know there’s some chat about him being past his best but at 27, he really ought to be going into his best years. Can’t see how playing for Mourinho is going to work for him.

This is painful to watch. Knowing Jose he will beat arsenal this Sunday but my god they play boring football

Truly diabolical stuff that half against fecking Bournemouth ffs

A bournemouth that had conceded 9 in their last 2 matches too.

And he sets up Spurs to be that cautious in the first half.
They had a single touch in the box for christ sake

Does my head in to think that he didn't once think to modernize his approach/tactics during his time off and has seemingly just dug in and doubled down.

Irregardless of the result today, I think he's at his final job in England right now.

I think it is fitness related. The first thing Ole did was to implement fitness gadgets etc to keep track of players fitness. Then we spent the next year working on our players fitness and speed.
I remember I read that Jose doesn't fancy all the new technology and he doesn't work that much with players fitness. He seems to be all about tactics in training and when the games start the players are always 2 steps behind causing them to lose possession.

I don’t remember United under Mourinho being this cynical with fouling. Maybe that is my bias as a United supporter or maybe this is leftover from Poch. They were many good things under him, but a dirty team was one of the negative sides.

This is a Jose team alright. Every attack breaks down at the final pass and the players have no clue who will be where. Just get him his palm trees and crossers and let him play how he knows. All those years we spent arguing with his fanboys that the zombie football was more than just the players. See how Spurs stopped looking coordinated with the same set of players within only a month of Poch leaving

edit: just might round up a group of redcafe vigilantes to round up and e-lynch those mourinhistas that terrorised this place when he was here

You can cut the tension between the Spurs players with a knife. Not a happy camp.

Whatever the outcome of the match — I don’t know how any spurs fan can watch that without being absolutely appalled at the style of football they’re serving up under him. Dreadful.

This is fantastic to see considering all the fanboys he had during his time here. Well and truly showing we were right to get rid, horrible, horrible manager.

Best thing about this is, he's still got a "full season to do it his way" before the board gets sick of his shit. Spurs are in for a bad few years.

One of my colleagues who is a Spurs season ticket holder has said he's stopped watching matches. Another colleague who is also a season ticket holder said her son (around 10 years old) was angry when Mourinho was appointed

You'd expect the young one's to be even more against him as they didn't even get to see him in his prime.

Remember when he got appointed and half of this forum was acting like he’s a improvement on Poch? couldn’t believe it at the time, fecking madness.

He simply doesn’t care. Just look at that Paddy power advert with him.

He has turned into one of those managers who gets sacked and goes to another job for money. Rather than choosing the right job for him.

Before the hire there was a groundswell of support among Spurs supporters to hire him . What happened to those ones? were they a vocal minority or did they just go quiet?

spurs fans thought that he would win them a trophy, and were willing to accept the standard of football in exchange for silverware.

however, with every job he gets worse and worse, and he doesn’t have a massive check book to get him out of trouble.

I find it amusing the support from spurs fans he still gets - surely they know some Utd and Chelsea fans who will tell them its just going to get worse and worse.

he he’s there deep into next season, spurs will be in an absolute shit state.

I used to enjoy watching Spurs under Poch.

The awful stuff they're producing under Jose brings back too many bad memories for me, like watching re-runs of our games early last year.
