Jose Mourinho | Spurs manager

At every club he's been at since 2002, Mourinho has won trophies. Will he win one at Spurs?

Think he will do good/very good till end of season, then depends of Levy, in worst case JM might tolerate one summer, because he would probably like a full season but after that oh boi.

Anyone knows the contract length, is it 3 years?

The only way for this to work in full length is if JM change his ways a bit and realizing that if he goes full poison classless cnut (that he is), that would be it more likely. Actually wait, Arsenal could be desperate one day too.
 
Interesting to see how he manages to work with Levy in comparison to Ed
 
It’s a good appointment for this season, I would expect them to move up table and finish 5th now.

May even be a good appointment for next season but after that it will all end one way.

Elaboration please? Fairly certain there is a group of supporters who fail to see logic and evidence in favour of personal preference over Mourinho. Yes, a class manager but has failed to evolve with the current generation of football. Will do a good job for the first year.
 
At least he won't need to live out of a hotel this time.

I can't see it working with tightwad Levy, who also operates a transfer committee that frustrated the life out of Poch. The January transfer window should see the first signs of fireworks.

Hope he gets twatted by us and his ex players when they come to OT.

But I do feel it's a very good move. Spurs for me have very strong foundation laid by Pochettino for any good manager to come in and take them further forward. Naturally spending will be the main issue but I think they've already put together something really good.
 
A shame, I always thought Spurs had a bit of class - It will be a few weeks but inevitably the paranoid one will create some sort of a stink and act in an appalling way. We should offload Matic and Young to him on the cheap just for the laughs!

Crucial part of this that Holt's forgetting is that Mourinho was at Inter almost a decade ago. And United were more of an "underdog" than Spurs are now when he took over - it didn't make a difference in the end.

Yeah, Chelsea back in 2004 just spent shit loads of money, nearly 3/4 times more than next team.

Spurs also seems to have players that are more football first than anything, while our squad is more focused on their social media influence... That's fair. This season though is a certainty all trophies bar the FA cup are out of reach. Interesting times none the less.

United were never underdog (at least in 2016-2018) just like how Madrid were not underdogs. The size of the club is too big to be considered as underdogs, not talking about just 11 players.

Yep, and Poch actually built a really strong, physical squad as well, with one of the best 9's in the business.

A couple of key defensive reinforcements and replacing Eriksen (unless Lo Celso can make that spot his own) will be his biggest challenges. That and instilling a winning mentality in the squad.

Nope. United aren't underdogs. There's an expectation at the club that there simply isn't as spurs.
 
Think he will do well. He is a great manager and he already have a great targetman in Kane. He just needs to fix the defense. They will win a trophy next year and then who knows what will happen after that. Judging by history it is probably going to go tits up.
 
Eric Dier's career at Spurs has taken a swift upturn overnight. Will probably be the first name on the teamsheet. A Jose type player.
 
So who are the Jose players and who aren't?

I'd guess Winks, Sessegnon fall into the latter.

He'll probably like Lamela, very busy player.
 
It’ll be a incredible appointment for Spurs they now have a real chance at silverware with a proven winner and top coach, it’s a good progression on for them...
 
Oh dear. I wouldn't wish Mourinho on my worst enemy, with the exception of Liverpool. The Spurs fans must be in shock.
 
I fully expect Spurs to do well under Jose at the beginning, there aren't many people around who can motivate new players so well and his short term effect can work wonders for a while. He may even win a trophy with them, which would be a huge boost to his massive ego and a welcome change for a chronically underachieving team.

But him and Levi are bound to clash over money/transfers and the issues with Spurs' squad Poch had to deal with aren't going to go away. He won't be able to throw money at problems like he did in the past and arguably he's past his prime as a manager, too, which was obvious in his previous job at MU.

So in short, he'll probably turn things around, and fast, but it won't last very long.

Aye, Fellaini'll be looking for a nice pad overlooking the Heath too.

I wonder if we can tempt him to take Matic in January?

Short term I think their results will improve, and I've picked 'yes' in the poll as I can see him targeting a cup next year.

It’s not really. They’ve been playing shite, cynical football under Pochettino for a while. They have plenty of ‘mad dog’ cloggers — Dier, Alli, Kane etc. who will buy into Mourinho’s mentality. Plus the media are bizarrely soft on Spurs, so maybe they’ll continue that leeway for Jose?

I think it’ll come apart at some point though. Maybe 8-9 months time when he’s not given the transfer targets he wants.
 
I guess you could say it was Al(l)derweireld or Nothing for Jose all along.

Who are these Jose type players? Other than the odd one or two the majority aren’t winners nor are they suited to his defensive approach.

The squad he inherited at Chelsea only needed tweaks and whilst he won two trophies at Utd his squad was far more rounded and even then the millions he spent wasn’t enough for him.

Kane will be the interesting one because Jose will want more out of him and I just don’t see in Kane the type of frontman that Jose requires.As for Deli Ali he and Jose could well be chaos

Joses tactics and approach to man management are from a different period in footballing time.How he will get on with the plethora of players that want out will be interesting to say the least and will there be the funds to rebuild in the style Jose will demand. And yes I fully expect that he and Levy will have already talked about finances but once he gets his feet under the table Jose will demand more and more
