Ah was thinking Spurs could still top the group with a win. Yeah will probably be dead game but Bayern just lost the last two so I'd say a good result can erase the 7-2 and get Spurs in better mood for KO rounds.

Not at all. The start of last season had a lot of unconvincing 1 goal wins against lower sides.
Yeah last season even though they were 3rd for most of it they didn't really trash many teams. But then I did say last 6 months of Poch which covers a fair chunk of that season.
Between 15-18 they beat Stoke 4-0 a couple of times and also 5-1, Everton 3-0 and 6-2, Burnley 3-0, Bournemouth 4-1 etc so that's what I mean in those seasons they were doing regularly home and away what Mourinho is doing with better defensive structure so a bit to go given their Man. United performance.

Nice touch he done with Troy Parrott at the weekend, is certainly doing everything right PR wise as well as on the pitch.
Let's hope he will be back to his incisive self. I do think his appointment of João Sacramento might help, since not only he brings fresh blood, he also adds someone who's seen as meticulous, disciplined and dynamic.
He needs to learn the art of delegating tasks in order to refresh his ideas and training methods, something that those managers who managed to succeed until late in their careers did.

Will be interesting to see if there is a Christmas clear out. Jose surely would have got some concessions from Levy about the squad before taking the role or he just would have said no. Id imagine Rose, Wanyama, Eriksen are gone, question marks over Vertonghen and Alderweireld.
Spurs need to look at some new defenders, sure they have that kid Foyth to come in, but im not sure I would be trusting my defence to two kids, Sanchez still only what 22, 23? And Foyth same age or younger. Need at least one experienced CB in the line up. Preferably a CB in his prime as well, but the asking price will be high.

Probably media bs as there is very little news on the transfer fronts. I mean they let Llorente leave and now they want to sign Fellaini. Doesn't make any sense.
Jose's record with signing was so bad with us that nothing would surprise me.

Fellaini went to China for the wedge. There's no way Levy will offer anything close to what he's earning over there. This is surely not happening.
I can see him signing Matic in January. He's not part of our plans & we don't know how to negotiate transfers, which Jose will well know. We'd probably let him go for a song. He's also 1 of Jose's favorites & he tends to start well initially at a new club.
I don't think we will sign either of them, for the first team anyway. He has Dier who he clearly rates and Dele who he has clearly given the boot up the ass that he needed. If there are to be any signings it will be at left or right back.

You clearly never followed United under Jose then. Fellaini's main role was to be the disruptor in the opposition box when we reverted to hoofball. You don't have anybody who can do a better job than him when that happens.

Just what the Spurs needed, even less mobility and protection for an ageing defence with Fellaini and Matic.
We have Dele who he uses as the target man, even Kane can drop deep and do that role. I watched plenty of him at United. I would say there is Zero chance of signing either, given their age and the wages they would demand.
No one's coming in January, according to almost every portuguese newspaper and sport news portal. In fact, Mourinho himself said on an interview for Sport TV that Spurs are a club that hire players with a very different profile when comparing to his previous clubs with the exception of Porto. Not high wages / fees players.
I wouldn't take the no signings thing too seriously, if the right players is available we will make a move, but yeah I agree the profile of player we will be after wont change much.
And that's the way a club should be run, to be honest. The manager makes the actives of the club improve in order to achieve results while the football department brings players to the club following their squad engineering project.
The only time Porto didn't do that was with Lopetegui, because he made this as one of his conditions. The result was pretty poor and Porto now is having a hard time to recover from those major losses.
If Jose really is on board with this, without a melt down, I am excited as our matches under him, baring United, have been good.
Without being a Mourinho fan, I kinda understand his meltdowns. By his own words he never saw any future on a project where the main goal was not to win titles. If there are no titles to win, the that job is not for him. And when you have such a mindset, it is very easy to get overboard by being extremely demanding with your own players (Robben himself said that Mourinho was the most demanding manager he ever had) and when you start to see different levels of energy and desire, things can only get worse and worse.
The only way I think he can improve, is if he has changed his mindset with his long time away from the training ground. Because at Porto he didn't exactly had the pressure to be a champion the way he did: he was hired at mid-season (because Porto didn't wanted to risk loosing him to their rivals), and those six months were not particularly good, with some embarrassing results like being dominated by Sparta Prague. He was hired for a rebuild and if possible to win something.

Where does that come from? The money put at his disposal points to a different conclusion.
It's not about the money available. It was how he was perceiving the situation. He was basically complaining about lack of ambition from the board and players atittude, and the more he b*tched about it, the more the team falled apart.
