His obsession with mediocrity is astounding. Jose of his old days would never have tolerated his defensive line up to consist of valencia-jones-smalling-young. That is unlike special one.
I can't really see there being a huge difference next season either, but i could live in hope. Liverpool, city and Chelsea will all strengthen in the summer.

My thoughts exactly. If City didnt spend hundreds of millions every summer and didnt have the best coach in football we would have at least took the title to the wire if not won it.

Agree about the Young bit. He also whips in a good cross for the lumps. Jose would only replace Young with a player that's equally as disciplined and adept at defending and crossing. He isn't ditching those qualities for an attacking fullback. But Valencia? I'm sure even Jose realises he offers little to Lukaku or anyone else for that matter
The actual chances of United actually sacking Mourinho are incredibly slim anyway. Looking at it from the Glazer's point of view he's been very successful so far; CL in consecutive seasons for the first time since SAF retired, already won two trophies with the potential of a third against Chelsea and achieved our highest placed finish in 5 years.
You are proving my point. This sort of reduction is ridiculous. Just because some of us don't want Jose sacked does not mean to say we cannot assess his flaws and areas the players, manager, and coaching needs to improve.
Edit: I read that as "pro-Jose". Apologies. With that said, the other side of the coin is also unhelpful. People have genuine concerns. I'm sure most of us would like to see more attacking verve next year.
Young and Valencia aren't going anywhere. I realised this when Shaw got a bollocking against West Ham for making a forward run and coming closer to scoring than anyone else. Clearly Mourinho doesn't share the widespread consensus on the caf that they need to be replaced next season. They're doing exactly what he wants.
I don't like Mourinho but it's obvious he's going to be here for at least 1 more year so for me, i'm expecting him to fix 80% of the issues in our squad this transfer window, no excuses.

He's been here 2 years, he should know what's required to make our squad better, no excuses. We can't be starting next season with unreliable CB's, Valencia and Young as our main FB's and a midfield that looks like they don't know what they're doing.

My feeling too. The next manager has to be someone on the way up, not down. Hopefully there'll be an outstanding candidate by this time next year.
But they have spent that, and they do have him. Does that mean we should be lowering our standards and accept our performances we've had this season? Does it mean we should ignore Mourinho's not creating a system that gets the best out of his squad? Fair enough we've finished with more points than we did in the treble season- Spurs did that last season.

PL campaign done then. 2nd isn't a bad effort really, if we'd actually made it into a title race it would've been easier to take. Just a really flat season in the league, if we take the FA Cup next weekend it'll be a decent end to the season, but something just seems flat and I can't even muster much enthusiasm for the final itself - we all know its gonna be a shocking game.

This is 99% to do with Gary Neville's comments. Gary Neville basically said McTominay is not a United player. That he is not good at anything, and not good enough with the ball to play here.
He was developing a similar obsession with RLC at Chelsea, cut short by his sacking. He is just trying to defend McTominay because he was the one who gave the latter a proper chance. I think this trinket will lose its' shine in one season or two and an inevitable loan will happen.
I am happy with Mourinho, and long may it continue. More importantly, the board and owners are extremely happy, and I m guessing their opinion matters the most. Another fantastic season, 81 points, have killed the big games and looking forward to next season. Jose is here to stay.

We have been terrible since SAF retired. I'll take a bit of dullness if it moves us in the right direction.

Mctominay could turn into a fletcher quite easily. Fletcher was derided yet many think he would have made a massive difference in the champions league final in Rome had he not been sent off in semi final. It took him about 8 years of hard graft to get that recognition.
Sometimes you need people who can just work a system. Look how liverpools midfield plays. They are individually awful players but sacrifice themselves for the system(even though I think the system is flawed btw)
Give the kid a chance and patience. We are too quick to deride our players. Even if he is never good enough to be starter every week we always need spare cogs who can get into a system without too much fuss and do a job.

@breakout67 Just read the quotes from Neville and he didn't actually say the guy isn't good at anything. Simply questioned whether he would be good enough as starting midfielder for Manchester United. Which i think is a fair question. Also suggested that maybe he could play in defence.
