We just can't seem to play consistent football for 90 mins. We are constantly starting games too slowly and by the time we realise we need to put in some effort, it's normally too late.

I can see why City won the league, but if we are so inconsistent and yet are still 2nd in the league then Liverpool, Spurs, and Chelsea must be really shite.
 
Was he hoping the fringe players would do better tonight? It's not often they all come together and play well when the team is changed so much. He needs to get rid of 5/6 players in the summer and freshen the squad up whilst adding a couple of quality additions.
 
We can't fecking start a game. What is he doing before the match? Probably mumbling at everyone.

Covering for the Glazers? He's spent £300 million and thrown massive wages at the likes of Ibrahimovic, Pogba and Sanchez and he's chosen to prioritise big money signings rather than several signings (he also clearly doesn't see full back as an important position in a team). The reality is with the money and our budget, we should be closer to City than the rest of the top 6 are to us so to suggest he's overachieving is bonkers. He's doing par in terms of results but the way they're being achieved leaves a lot to be desired.

The big red flag for me is that players seem to be picking and choosing their games. We've beaten all the top sides but lost to all the newly promoted ones as well.

Suggests they're playing for the occasion and not the manager.
 
He will not be at the club at the end of next season. It's pretty much guaranteed the way things are shaping up right now. Then we'll appoint some tired old wanker and try to aim for fourth again.

When was the last game we played well? When was the last game we played some enjoyable football for more than 30minutes during one half? It soesn't happen anymore.

Started with a line up the muppets would dream of, Martial/Rashford/Mata and got exactly what the realists expected. None of them are good enough to be starters.

Peanuts in todays market. We didn't have a senior striker, no world class players besides De Gea. Our best players are those he brought in. I would trust him with another 300 million.
The manager of the world richest clubs with the highest income shouldn't have too prioritise signings, we are not Tottenham.
City had 4-5 players that were way better than anything we had.

He took over a complete shite team, the worse United team I remember in the last 30 years.

Can't wait for the day he leaves tbh. He'll keep us in respectable positions in the table but we'll be awful to watch until the day he leaves. Then we can hope again.

Peanuts? Barring PSG and City it's a level of spending that barely any club in Europe can match. Bayern's record all-time signing cost less than half what both Pogba and Lukaku cost. When has he had to prioritise signings? In his first two summers he said he wanted 8 players, he got 7 and then got Sanchez in in January. The reality is City did have a better squad to begin with and have spent more and hired a better manager. I have no issue with us being 2nd to them but given that our resources and squad are much greater than everyone but them, we shouldn't be playing such unattractive football with them setting the record for the biggest gap ever between 1st and 2nd.

I don't think his job should be under threat at all but your claim that he's overachieving is just wrong, we should be 2nd, we are 2nd but the football is dross and one of the few virtues we had when he took over, a couple of exciting attackers, haven't improved due to him not coaching attacking play and wanting ready made solutions that he doesn't have to take any responsibility for developing.

Fair point. But in reshaping the squad Fergie got rid of ageing players (Strachan), boozy crocks (Whiteside and McGrath) and players who simply weren't good enough (Davenport, O'Brien). There was a lot of fat to cut.

Look at the squad Mourinho has. He's got Pogba (world's most expensive player last year), Martial and Rashford (golden boy and runner-up), Sánchez (one of best players in PL for last four years) and Lukaku (signed for 75 million last summer). Who is Mourinho going to get that's markedly better than those players? What is the point of shipping out those young, obviously talented players, particularly given Mourinho might not be here for the long-term?
 
Don't know what the hell he sees in players like Fellaini, Darmian, Mata and Young.

Anyway I'm sure he only picked today's team because there was nothing to lose. we had three palm trees in midfield and the slowest least dynamic combination on the right. And I thought Valencia wad bad. He at least makes himself available as an outlet when Mata roams

Anyone saying United have spent peanuts since Ferguson retired (or even since Mourinho came in) is in deep need of medication.

We're incredibly low value for money. I'd pull up the numbers but they're not flattering.

He's just said that the players that replaced the others tonight didn't perform (which is true) and that's why the others always play. Clearly referring to Lukaku and Sanchez, but then how many shite performances have we seen from them two?

Sanchez was awful for 3/4 games in a row and not once was he dropped.

It's also always hard for a player who is constantly on the bench to just come in and perform. In the words of Van Gaal, you need match rhythm.

You would trust him with another 300 million? Which one of his signings has come off? Also all this talk about "only 300m" (crazy), but ignoring that we also signed Sanchez and Ibra on free transfers, so you can pretty much add on another 80m-100m to that in terms of value.
  • Bailly 30m - always injured
  • Ibra on a free - Never going to be more then a stop gap for one year as it turned out
  • Mkhitaryan 25m - Did alright in the Europa League but trash other then that until we gave him away for a player with 6 months left on their contract
  • Pogba 90m - Mourinho drops him for the most important games of the season against Sevilla. Says it all.
  • Lukaku 75m - He's done pretty well but he's never a 75m player and not at the top level of strikers. But decent enough sure.
  • Matic 45m - He's a good player, but out POTS last year was Herrera. Matic essentially just replaced him from the 11, so you can't say it was an amazing signing.
  • Lindelof 30m - Nothing more than a squad player
  • Sanchez on a free - Hasn't performed any better then Rashford or Martial have overall this season. Was borderline world class last season
So what's that, a few marginal successes but no clear "very good signing"? Along with not really improving anyone in our side compared to before. We obviously need to support him in the transfer window just like any manager, but to say I'd trust him to change anything would be pushing it.

Really? You left out all of the bang average players we have.

Two quality fullbacks, a quality midfielder to replace fellaini and a proper right winger to replace Mata would go some way to raising the quality on the pitch and in doing so could raise the performance of others.

Some of his favs also had stinkers tonight. No need for a manager to single anyone out. We lost a similar game a few weeks back with our first teamers

Not even sure they are picking and choosing. We tend to lose the games we are expected to win, simply as we dont know how to attack when teams sit deep against us.

Aside from signing better players, I see no indication he is working on our attacking play at all.
